Contes football and Conte himself make my eyes bleed. But some want him because he’s the only one who has won major league titles.

Cant remember a time where there were so few desirable managers available

Rodgers for me because I’d have more chance of enjoying the matches.

I could do with a dose of Conte going fecking mental on the sideline after 3 years of vanilla management

Not a fan of either, Conte will bring yet more pragmatic, dull football, and he won't be this force for change as when he falls out with the board he'll simply go. Rodgers will finally bring progressive football to United but he's a cornball and lacks the winners instinct to capture a PL or CL imo.

What is this opinion based on? There’s been a lot of lazy analysis done this week around the system he used at Inter and how it wouldn’t fit our current squad, but if you look at his track record he is flexible in the setup he uses. He picks a formation that best suits the players he has, case in point Chelsea 16-17 they played 3-4-3, scoring 85 goals which is more than any of our sides post Sir Alex. He has systems he’s used more than others but he’s proven that he is not married to one approach, prioritising getting the best out of his squad which I’d say is exactly what we need right now given the lopsided nature of ours.

Board choosing Rodgers over Conte would be like admitting we’re afraid of actually winning important trophies again. After all, they gave a new deal to the guy who said trophies are for egos mostly.

Was Conte’s football bad? I seem to remember Chelsea playing a pretty good brand of back to front football which was fast paced and solid at the back. They ripped us a new one at Stamford Bridge 4-0.

Most who say he's like Mourinho have not seen his teams enough and are making the lazy comparison. Also the 3 at the back make them feel it's automatic dull and boring. Tuchel plays the same formation.

Conte's Chelsea were solid at the back and very good going forward. What's not to like in that. Cannot believe anyone would choose Brendan over Conte.

Yeah I agree, I remember being impressed at how quickly Chelsea took to it as well. You’d think that’s exactly what we’d be after considering Van Gaal couldn’t do that, and Ole still hasn’t managed it.

Conte.

The thought of having Brendan Rodgers managing us makes me want to vomit

Don't mind Brendan. But between him and COnte, would reluctantly have Conte.

At this moment it's Conte and it's not a contest. I hope we go for him.

Under Conte Inter were the second highest scoring side in Serie A, only behind Gasperini's Atalanta. When he won the PL with Chelsea they were also the highest scoring side in the league only a goal off Tottenham. His teams absolutely score lots of goals, and would produce a much more attractive style than anything Ole has delivered.

He’ll bin a couple higher profile and a couple craper players will play, but it will be for the sake of squad balance (e.g. Victor Moses, Darmian) and they’ll actually play very well for him.

Easy this- Rodgers.

I do believe we have a better squad than Leicester. So Rodgers will be able to take them to the next level and win stuff. He plays attacking football and is tactically sound too. If he can get Vardy playing like that I can only imagine what wonders he would do with Rashford. Of course the Liverpool stint sucks but he has shown he is capable of winning wherever he has been past the Liverpool days. This can be put down as learning curve for him. Lot of you will cry salty tears if he goes on to replace Pep at City. People will also bring the bottling of 4th place , but that is where United's bench strength will come into play.

Conte - We will be back playing LvG- Mourinho era football. 0-0 every week or boring 1-0. Just remember the times LvG and Mourinho sucked out the joy of watching football. Don't want that ever again. Yes he might get win something but he will also leave a trail of destruction when he leaves and we will have to bring Ole back in to build the place up.

Long term view ..Get Rodgers.

If we get Brenton as a manager I would take a break from football. Imagine having had Giggs and Rodgers as our manager in the last 10 years. It hurts

I think I might too. I couldn't stomach him at United.

Also if anyone hadn't noticed Leicester have had a terrible start to the season aswell. If we weren't so poor against them they'd be in the bottom half.

I've said before that we need a teacher type coach who can bring in progressive attacking football. But while I think that Rodgers is an upgrade on Ole, he isn't enough as a coach to be chosen in favour of a Conte who is, although not my favourite, too much superior as a manager. Ideally, someone like Ten Hag would be as good as the hype and we'd go for him but that doesn't mean we should drop the standard this much.

Rodgers is good but Conte is top class.

Also this whole Conte is basically destructive like Mourinho thing - maybe he is but are people overplaying this point? If SAF was being hired today might he also be 'tougher ' for the board to deal with than mild fellows like Ole? It's like being forgotten how ferocious the great man could be?

Conte : he's not an ideal fit and is a bit of a nutter ... but at least it won't be boring.

Pretty much everything you just posted about Conte is wrong and makes me think you haven't actually watched any of his sides play. Furthermore, where is the evidence that he leaves a "trail of destruction" in his wake?

since when was Rogers available? He has a job.
I’d take him over Ole any day of the week though...but prefer Conte.

As for people posting they would take a break from football if we appoint manager X.. you ain’t real supporters go follow someone else please.

you Support the team win loose or draw If its in your blood.

Brendan Rodgers is a League One Manager.
Antonio Conte is good for classically pragmatic Italian unfootball in which the main objective every Saturday is to win by strictly half a goal.

If you really think this, you haven't watched Conte at all.

Let's not replace Ole with another manager who will not be able to win the PL title please, Rodgers teams choke when just going for top 4.

Both options are shit.

I'm leaning more towards Rodgers if I'm forced to choose.

Agree with the bold.

In fact if we were determined to go for a progressive British coach then I'd prefer Potter over Rodgers too.

This is nonsense though and has been debunked quite a bit over the past few days. Conte's teams score a lot of goals.

The fact that we want a bottler who plays pretty football over a winner who plays efficient football, shows everything that is rotten at this club. We really have turned into the new Arsenal.

Not to mention, one of the worst man managers in the game. He was nicknamed Brent by a lot of ex players that played under him. Keeps a full sized portrait of himself in his hallway and does Fergie’s extremely well publicised old motivational tactics of putting names in envelopes.

If anyone here thinks the players are going to play for Rodgers for more than a few months, you’re in for a total shock lads and lasses.

It's based on watching his teams play, the formation is irrelevant, no formation is inherently negative, it's how you utilize it and approach the game, Conte is pragmatic and cautious, people talked about how many goals Mourinho's teams scored when we hired him, but like most stats it doesn't tell the full story. I'm tired of managers with this approach, waiting for opposition to make errors and relying more on the counter, going into big games as kowtowed underdogs instead of imposing our attacking game on the opposition no matter who they are.

Sir Alex did that consistently. Cannot believe there's anyone with two eyes and half a brain who would choose Rodgers over Conte.

Whats rotten is the idea it has to be either/or, it sure isn't at City and Liverpool, I don't want either of these 2.

The fans seem to have this notion that lesser number of defenders means better and more progressive football. You can have a solid defense and then have your attackers build on that. I would take Conte in a heartbeat currently. Only issue with him is he will blow his fuse sooner rather than later and we will be looking for a new coach after that. I will take that right now if we can get a league title out of him and a set system where players know what their role is and he improves us as a squad.

They are both winners in their own right:

Rodgers has 7 victories from 7 Finals across his career.

Conte challenges for leagues and wins leagues wherever he goes.

It's the no-nonsense side of Conte that sways me to prefer him over Rodgers.
If you're not prepared to run through brick walls for Conte, then prepare yourself to be warming the bench.
His ruthlessness is EXACTLY what is required with our current crop of players.
