More clean sheets than Schmeichel now, he might be loosing his touch but you need to remember what he has done for us in the past.

Some really tough decision to be made here next season. Haven't left any confidence in him tbh.

There was times when the ball was floated into his zone and he refused to come off his line to help. He needs to be moved on IMO.

Almost dropped a bollock when he spilled a slow mishit shot straight into the path of Vardy in the first half.

Then in the second a free kick was floated in that he should have come out for and punched clear or caught the ball and instead he stayed rooted to his line and we had to rely on Maguire I think it was winning a great header.

He didn't cost us today but I still thought he was poor and he shouldn't be number 1 next season.

38 games. 3 more than minimum goals conceded all season by anyone. He’s made mistakes but he’s a major part of the defence that’s made that happen. Kudos to Maguire, Lindelof, AWB and Matic as well. They’ve really stepped up.

Didn't like the look of him today. Bad drop for the Vardy offside chance and passive and indecisive on a second-half FK cross.

What I'd be most interested to see is whether another, more aggressive keeper would enable us to play a higher defensive line, thus also enabling a team pressing tactic. Our defence has been very deep for years and that might have something to do with DDG who stays on his line at all costs. A modern sweeper keeper to clean up through-balls could make the whole team a lot more aggressive.

Agree. I salute the service he's given Utd, but to move on to the next level, it has to be good bye.

Leave as a legend.

He looks exhausted, which is a little strange for a goalie, but it is probably more mental than physicsl. Look at his reactions for Tieleman’s poor finish. Thst might have snuck had it been on goal. Ddg reacted so slowly. Mentally drained?

Yeah that's a big frustration with him that doesn't ever get any better. There's plenty of occasions like that in games where you want your keeper to confidently come out and punch it away.

His heads gone. Watch the replay of the Gray's (?) shot that just went wide. His face tells you he thought it was in despite leaving it. He is a nervous wreck.

Happy for his clean sheet, the record and of course top4. Feck me, he has started to make me nervous. That spill for Vardy could have veen disastrous. Had it been 0-0 I'd ve extremely nervous Leicester pumping high balls and set pieces into the box with De Gea not commanding enough. Whilst he has been fantastic this season...I tjink it is time to think of our next number 1.

I don't get why we've not seen him work on these obviously weak areas in his game. If he stays on his line for balls into the box because he's not big enough physically to do anything else successfully, what's his excuse for not being quick off his line as a sweeper keeper?

I think you could excuse being poor at one of those things, but both seems to be far too much to be carrying.

Leave as a legend.

2012-2017 he was the best shot stopper on the planet, one of the best ever at his peak. Not so long ago that opponent fans were whining and screaming about how he was the only reason we weren't in the bottom half!

I don't know what happened to David De Gea but I think his performance is more of his mental than physical. He seems broken after the World Cup in Russia. Reminds me of Novak Djokovic's form when after he held all 4 slams in the calendar year in 2016, after finally winning the French Open; he completely went downhill in 2017 and failed to win a single slam in 2017 and was struggling with his personal problems. He made his comeback in 2018 summer by winning Wimbledon. I do hope David De Gea can regain back to his best again, still very young for a goalkeeper. I think David De Gea needs to see a psychologist or some motivational life coach, go ring up Novak Djokovic to see his life coach or something.

I think Ole, the club and De Gea need to have an honest conversation about the future. Something needs to change, for the good of both the club and the player.

Maybe DDG needs a new environment, it's actually happened to great players before and they did restore some of their former consistent performances. Solskjaer has to have an honest conversation with De Gea and find out if there is a problem that has to be resolved, we need a top class goalkeeper, who brings stability to the whole defense in order to challenge the top teams domestically and in Europe.

Would love a keeper more inclined to come out and claim crosses. Always get jittery watching us defend set pieces and his presence (or lack of) certainly accentuates that feeling.

Wont be mention as much because it didnt ultimately cost us, but that mistake was really poor to say the least.

I think we would be a better team with a more proactive goalkeeper

Yeah, I agree. I think he's made improvements on crosses in the sense that he's just accepted that he'll never be a good cross catcher, and thus just stays glued to his line instead of spreading nervousness in the defence by being indecisive. But his lack of improvements in coming out to deal with through-balls is harder to justify, because everyone can see, and many will have told him, that he should improve in that regard.

If Romero really leaves what's next?
Is it our chance to let him fight it out with Henderson?
Who else would we promote to n2? Grant? Pereira?
Or buy a new n2?
If Romero stays it will be the same as this season I would guess.

He can’t inspire much Confidence when that 2nd half free kick came in and Maguire ‘s had to defend it . The ball lands on his head about 12 yards out ? Any other keeper is claiming that or else even punching it .

Big decision needed over the summer IMO regarding Henderson

Like it or not, but he now has the most clean sheets for the club - it’s a good record to hold at a club of Man Utd calibre. He may even add to his tally if Ole plays him in any of EL matches

But according to some he’s an absolute liability that is in need of replacing urgently.

Ended up with a positive PSxG...

Kasper Schmeichel was doing well in this regard. He read the danger, came off his line, claimed the ball and prevented the chances. For de Gea it would have looked like unstoppable one-on-ones.

Another thing I wanted to point out is there was a point where Greenwood played Martial in on goal and Schmeichel was off his line quick as lightening and got there just before Martial. For me I can't see De Gea reacting instantly and committing to come off his line like that. We'd probably end up conceding a 1v1 chance on goal as a result. It's not just crosses where his hesitancy to come off his line affects us.

That floating freekick was one of the slowest I have ever seen and it made it to the 6 yard box but he still didn't come out . There was a moment just before half time when the ball was in the middle of our box with 4 defenders around & no Leicester players there but he showed no authority and AWB had to clear it after everyone panicked . Just not very good anymore, he has so many flaws in his game and now that his biggest strength is no longer a strength everything else shows up worse

All the criticism and he still finished 3rd in terms of clean sheets this season...

He'll be our starter for next season, but I think next will be his last (unless he rolls it back and has a terrific year). The thing is when you're the best goalkeeper in the world, there's a really long way down until its Kepa levels of bad. He has been pretty much an average to above average premier league goalkeeper over the past 1.5 seasons, but before that was the best in the world for probably 4 years. Clean sheet record for United too now. He's a United legend, without a doubt.

If GK isn't a priority in the summer, then it should be the one after, because to win a league, you need a top-class GK, and unfortunately, De Gea isn't that anymore.

He's been a fantastic servant to the club. Hands down the best keep in the league a few seasons ago. Just doesn't fill me with any confidence nowadays, and there's obvious reasons behind that.

With Romero rumoured to be looking for a team that'll provide him with the number 1 spot, it may be that Ole brings Henderson in as a number 2, with a view of replacing De Gea.

Despite him being great for Sheff Utd this season, I personally don't think Henderson is good enough either, but he should certainly be given a chance to prove himself, given his successful loan spells.

If we're replacing, it's got to be Oblak. The only other keepers of that calibre are Allison and Ter Stegen and are obviously not available. The Roma keeper looked ok but I've not seen enough.

If Oblak is not available, it might well be a case of grass is greener.

I know he gets very good money but I feel bad for him that from 2012-18 he never got a proper stage to show what he can do. His one really big game (away vs Madrid) was spectacular, the best goalkeeping I've ever seen, and was also his last really big game when he was at his peak.
