This guy consistently lied about us being on the verge of signing Fabinho when it turned out later we were never even in for him. Yet people still take him seriously.
The Fabinho claims being imminent came from UK journo's from what I remember, Bouhafsi only reported that we had interest but he always said that no offers had been made by the club.

He was the first one to break the Liverpool news with him before anyone else

Either you're with us or you're against us.

Reads like it. Not sure what we gain from briefing we’re going to meet with a player who has his heart set on PSG - of course he could just be covering himself with that narrative considering he said he was off to psg a few weeks ago.
Could easily be us pretending to be “in” for players we know we won’t get to appease the fans too. Hey guys we tried, right?
But you do have to try and I’m glad the noises are good. Bellingham, Haaland, Camavinga we’d be in danger of becoming the new Arsenal. Look who we very nearly signed.

I recall it being the other way around. My memory isn't perfect, but I remember English journalists like Luckhurst consistently saying we weren't interested in Fabinho as the stories from Bouhafsi were coming out.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Umm…I doubt it. Our fans and the entire media operation criticise the club for being an embarrassing shambles anytime we fail to sign a player we’re reportedly after. Odd how City - who regularly walk away from targets - and Chelsea - who miss out on players - don’t get quite the same attention.

You are remembering it correctly , contrary to popular perception best sources for United's Transfer speculation are Still Uk based Journalist's.

to be fair players and their entourages are not stupid or just greedy these days. You have to protect the brand and the mystique at all costs. Everyone knows the PL is a high pressure, rough and unforgiving league with big financial rewards. I can imagine lots of players want to test themselves here as early as possible or take the one chance they get to come here when they are offered it but others who are more in demand probably think it’s a step too far too early and don’t want to sit on a bench for half the season. Also If you flop you’re forever branded a PL flop to millions of fans around the world.

Dominating with PSG and making the same kind of money as here is by far the safest and best move for his CV. Hold out for Madrid in a few years. It depends how ambitious he is and what kind of plan his team have for him. If we tell him he’s going to be starting with Pogba Sancho and Varane and we are going all out, given what’s gone on at PSG over the years that’s surely gotta turn his head in this direction.

The annual ‘is this reporter a liar’ game on the caf is so jarring. ‘Remember when we were linked to Garay, he said he was coming here!’. Anyone with sense can tell a proper journo from the likes of Indy Kaila, and beyond that, the window runs for a determined period of time and we will all see what happens and what doesn’t happen soon enough anyway.

He’s called plenty right. He’s a professional with great contacts in the French game. Whether this is a come and get me to PSG or not who knows but it sounds like we are in the game and that’s all we can hope for. Let’s hope he fancies a crack at playing in the PL!

Surely the sales pitch is simple

Look at the amount of teenagers United field compared to PSG, it’s a no contest

And with McFred as our first choice midfield, he would get plenty of game time

I may as well just say it and put it out there. Get haaland next year and we are the Real Madrid for the next generation of young world stars/galacticos whatever you want to call it. We could easily win more than 1 CL with that young core. Way way way ahead of myself but you have to manifest these things and hope for the best.

Murtough, if you’ve been reading my posts for transfer inspiration, all I can say is you have excellent taste and don’t sell fred. He’s a lot better than the most of the eejits on here give him credit for :D

Despite not signing anyone yet, there's a strange "we mean business" tone this summer
It's actually been going on since the Bruno/Haaland/Bellingham window. Maybe slightly amplified by said business ostensibly no longer being directed by the dumbest footballing CEO of the past two-hundred years. An artifact of that in turn being any potential indirect signals that the new "Woodward's gone, we promise" team wants to send out.

Bring this man/woman along to the meet up. Open with that line, say nothing else until Camavinga responds and go from there.

There’s literally nobody that is worth listening to at all from what I read on here. I’ve read attempts to discredit Di Marzio, Romano, Bouhafsi - some of the best journalists in the game, because everyone is apparently a fraud. Grown folk shouldn’t take this shit so seriously tbh. As I said, the truth is literally revealed one way or another within weeks anyway.

If he wants psg then our name is likely thrown in to pressure them into making a move.

Only outcome I see from this.

He is 18 and is already better than McTominay. I think that's clear. He's had an underwhelming season for him but has been a stats leader at 17 in a top 5 league. That alone is incredible and a strong indicator for his future.

Greenwood is considered an amazing prospect but for a forward, his advanced metrics are very average (30th percentile for xG, 32nd for xA). Camavinga's are already genuinely great in the relevant metrics for his position. Diallo is clearly a great prospect but Camavinga is slightly younger than Diallo and already has two seasons under his belt in a top five league. Generational talent is over-used but I think this guy is the clearest candidate to be the Mbappe/Haaland of midfielders and if we can get him at a good price, we should do it at all costs, especially when his stock is relatively low.
I am not sure how my post indicates that I am against it. I am delighted about the fact that we might get him. I am simply questioning those who think that we will be challenging for titles this season if he is our ONLY midfield addition.

100%

Our fans have football transfer PTSD. It’s as simple as that. Shell shocked from all the joy and winning to becoming a laughing stock. I’ve never been more convinced that we are turning things around than since Ole came in and we changed transfer strategy and started stripping away the LVG and Jose influence. The football structure and scouting looks spot on. We probably won’t ever just go out and buy a CL but we are clearly building a team for the long term and that’s good enough for me. If we don’t get Camavinga I finally trust us to go out and get the next best thing. Progress!

I worry that this is another "investment" for the future when what we really need are first team players for the here and now. Unless we are willing to waiut another 3 years+ for the youngsters we purchased to mature into world class players.

Dan James anyone??

I said before the transfer window whoever signs Camavinga will probably get the transfer of the summer. At 18 he's easily one of the highest prospects in the world in a position we really need, we should be all over this.

I can't say I have ever watched this lad play more than a handful of minutes. However the hype around him is so big that he's surely got to be on another level to Dan James.

I wonder if PSG splashing 70m on Hakimi would stop them from splashing again. Wishful thinking I guess.

They are already stacked in midfield. Gini, Verrati, Peredes, Herrera, Gueye and Danilo?

"Weighing up", "Considering" ... Not worth reading any further! We all know how this will end ...

Or Pogba could be heading to PSG and this opens a door for us? Our manager doesn't trust Pogba in CM, I don't think the situation will change by signing Camavinga.

Strangely enough we haven't had much credible news with our outgoings yet, I wonder if we already have agreement in place and we're keeping this quiet until their replacements are finalised.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting times ahead

Are we buying these players to appease Pogba?

I imagine getting Varane and Camavinga would see Pogba sign a new deal.

Any reason is a good reason to have them three in the squad.

I've not seen anything of this player but the way people are talking he'll be a younger better version of Fred? Lots of running, tackling and can pick a pass?
Would like to know more if anyone knows more.

Not sure we'd spend 100 Mill or whatever to appease Pogba. We'd be buying the players because they fit our plan, not because it would make Paul happy.
