I wonder if the news at 9.30 will be watered down after the backlash? Or are they going all in ‘feck you see you in court!’ style, it’s intriguing to say the least.
Their league hasn't been invaded by oligarchs tbf.Bayern is the best managed club in the world, and they do not need the super league money
Others club are desperate to make cash asap
& they win the league almost every year & all the best players want to go there over Dortmund, of course they don't want to join the ESL, they got it easy in the BundesligaTheir league hasn't been invaded by oligarchs tbf.
I know it boils down to greed vs greed , one version acts like it cares about fans and the other just flat out says the fans can do oneMate your word is as good as mine. Ive no idea what's going on.
I think it will be purely about positioning it as an alternative to the CL and not being designed to undermine the domestic calendar.I wonder if the news at 9.30 will be watered down after the backlash? Or are they going all in ‘feck you see you in court!’ style, it’s intriguing to say the least.
Thats what its supposed to be though?I think it will be purely about positioning it as an alternative to the CL and not being designed to undermine the domestic calendar.
I'd be happy as it alongside the CL, one week ESL, one week CLI think it will be purely about positioning it as an alternative to the CL and not being designed to undermine the domestic calendar.
Exactly, shitty teams from all over Europe that haven't won feck all and never will, they just happened to have a good season or so. You've got teams from Germany and France that haven't won their league competing for the CL, and that's not even mentioning the likes of the Romanian. Latvian, Danish teams etc that aren't even good enough for the Europa, yet they're in the group stage? How is that good to watch? How is that an elite competition?Feck this arrogant attitude. They've been letting in "shite" teams for all over Europe since back when it was called the European Cup. What changed is that they started letting in teams that didn't win their leagues.
There was a leak suggesting that a spending cap would be in place at 55% of revenue earned but I’m not sure how legitimate it is. I think this league is born out of frustration from Barce and Real at clubs like City and PSG throwing around oil money, they’ll be something in place.Just speculating but I imagine if City are being invited it will only be if they agree to a spend/wage cap not exceeding the big clubs involved.
I don't see how their fans would ever be in favor for this.I'd hold off before giving them too much credit here, because of the ownership structure in Germany. They probably have to run it by their fans first before publicly committing to the new competition.
I think that's the idea yeah, all clubs involved will be extremely rich. Right now clubs like Barca are haemorrhaging money just to try and compete, the idea of this league is surely to try and level the playing field financially somewhat. With the money involved, I doubt thats needed. They arent going to bid 400m for a player, and if they do then happy days to the selling club
Exactly. All these clubs have hundreds of years of history, the ESL dilutes all of that.Playing the likes of RM, Barca, etc... every week devalues the prestige of draws or ties that come when you get into the higher stages of European competitions. It would never last, especially if the included teams were also allowed to play in their domestic leagues and cups at the same time. Players would be run ragged and injuries more frequent. Terrible idea.
Do the Glazers own all of the other signed up sides? Barca and Real too?Tweet

You think City and PSG would agree to that?I think there will be a revenue based spending cap.
Yeah I'm sure every young player dreams of bombing out of a major tournament at the group stage and being blamed for the loss while people burn effigies of them in the streetWhat young player doesn't dream of playing at a World Cup Finals?
Think it is supposed to be an alternative to the supposed restructure of the CL. The big clubs want more money, not have it shared out to even more clubs. The problem then starts if said clubs are chucked out of their own league. It's a mess.So is this league going to just replace the PL or not?
I feel all our history would be gone then and nothing to build on it.
It would just ruin everything.
Source? Bellingham got offered more at Dortmund apparently. Pep said a few weeks ago Dortmund pay agents huge fees to get the top young talents.
In big parts due to their faults, their solutions is a big treason to their faithful fans.I think that's the idea yeah, all clubs involved will be extremely rich. Right now clubs like Barca are haemorrhaging money just to try and compete, the idea of this league is surely to try and level the playing field financially somewhat.
Tottenham out of all teams got an invite for this and they are a nothing club. How are Man City even fecking invited, they’ve won a few league titles, never won a champions league, got about ten fans, what criteria have they met other than having shitloads of money?
I hear you but then a few years ago I (and presumably Barcelona) never thought I'd see a player being bought for £200m and yet PSG paid that for Neymar. With the money involved, I doubt thats needed. They arent going to bid 400m for a player, and if they do then happy days to the selling club
PSG refused to join, City have agreedYou think City and PSG would agree to that?
Ehh, history is history. Did we lose any when the PL was formed? So is this league going to just replace the PL or not?
I feel all our history would be gone then and nothing to build on it.
It would just ruin everything.
This is purely for the moneybags. They would get everything their own way. It’s a shambles and I cannot believe that clubs have voted in favour of it.Total disaster. The closed shop franchise system, around which team sports in NA are organised, just cuts right across how international football works. The damage will be enormous. And with UEFA fighting back and banning SL players from all tournaments, it will feck up international football too.
The worst of it is it takes clubs with a century of tradition right out of their own history and that context. Every individual and team record, every comparable from club history will just be so much dust. It will hugely diminish football. Sure it's fun to play Real Madrid, but as long as we can do that once every few years in the CL that's fine. I for one would rather see United play Southampton and Brighton twice a year than Bayern and PSG.
Why are the Glazers getting all the shit for this? Not the only ones.Tweet

No, it's an answer to UEFAs new Champions League vision from 2024.So is this league going to just replace the PL or not?
I feel all our history would be gone then and nothing to build on it.
It would just ruin everything.

Totally this! I feel it’s lazy for the media to blame the clubs associating to create the ESL while overlooking the total negligence and greed on the part of UEFA and some national leagues which created the environment for this.Give it enough time and I'm afraid you'll understand. What UEFA want is to allow as much money as possible come into football but have the biggest revenue makers accept it. They want a 'fairness' that can allow Man City to have a better bench than Arsenal do a first team but still take in all the revenue from Arsenal fans anyway. They want a 'fairness' that is a European 'Champions' league that gives multiple places to big revenue leagues that means that the actual champions from Scotland, Ireland, etc will never be able to make it to the competition proper. They want a 'fairness' that suits only them. The only reason that UEFA care about this is because they stand to lose revenue. If this was Rangers and Dundalk and other small clubs, who are champions, from small nations planning this UEFA wouldn't give a shit.
Well then maybe UEFA should have done more to stop UAE and Qatar from making a joke out of football. Maybe they should have stopped the likes of Leeds, Wigan, us and Liverpool from being taken over by obvious leeches and straddled with huge debts. They created this shit and it is their fault. I hate the super league idea but I simply don't blame the clubs I blame UEFA, the FA and the other league authorities.
You what?Yeah I'm sure every young player dreams of bombing out of a major tournament at the group stage and being blamed for the loss while people burn effigies of them in the street
You'd think but who knows.I don't see how their fans would ever be in favor for this.
And even then it's a non competitive league. Tells you all you need to know why they don't want to join this super league...Their league hasn't been invaded by oligarchs tbf.
Think it will be based on fan base and City's is growing. They want the TV audience.Tottenham out of all teams got an invite for this and they are a nothing club.
Sounds like a mess. I like the current structure and CL as it is. 64 teams in CL would be fine too if they want to improve it, but group stage would get more boring potentially.Think it is supposed to be an alternative to the supposed restructure of the CL. The big clubs want more money, not have it shared out to even more clubs. The problem then starts if said clubs are chucked out of their own league. It's a mess.
He never has, to be fair.Ducker still doesn't understand the fecking point
