Constantly at the STD clinic.
He was spotted by United's head of South American scouting, Jose Mayorga. He nearly joined Lyon before arriving at United. Forlan did recommend him but that was after Jose Mayorga had recommended him to the club according to what I've read and heard via a TGG podcast.

Pellistri had a £8m release clause and it's a no brainer to sign a player with his potential for such a low fee. Even if he doesn't make it, the potential is there to make a tidy profit.
Yeah as far as I know we were rumored to be into him but it was lukewarm. Then he got really close to joining Lyon and we went into overdrive.

There's something great about watching a player as direct as Pellistri. Having somebody that direct can come with its drawbacks, which is why I suspect ten Hag has only given him limited opportunities so far, but he does impress pretty much every time he's given a chance.

It's a bit of a shame for him that there are so many players competing with him for the wide positions. A couple of years ago Pellistri probably would've had the opportunity to make that position his own.

I think it would be a crying shame for us to sell him in the summer - give him 1 season and play him akin to how we've been playing Garnacho, everytime we see him-- granted very little- I feel like there's much more to him than Elanga

I really don’t want us to let him go. Maybe he’s not as good in the buildup in terms of short passing as Sancho or Antony but through his dribbling and final third efforts he has a knack of making things happen.

Hope ETH changes his mind on him because as of now it feels like he sees hin as surplus to requirements

You would think so, but this season we have clearly seen the Garnacho's starting/sub on case. Could be the same case against tired legs.
Could be right but it would be easy to start him in a Cup game and then sub him at HT if he was struggling.

He looks like a Ganarcho circa early ETH's reign. Great for 10minutes, going forward but is probably a bit absent-minded about his defensive responsibilities.

But the problem is that he has had nearly 7 months of ETH training plus winter break and yet ETH still doesn't trust him to start.

Ten Hag spoke well about him post match. Says he’s been good in training and deserves his opportunity. I’m sure we’ll see more of him as we did with Garnacho.

Not sure why everyone panics he’ll leave then again it is the Caf. Make a drama out if anything!

I would get it if he doesnt get a chance ever but he does yet people are up in arms about ETH supposedly not trusting him.

Looking over my shoulder.
His acceleration for that run is insane. Not only does he accelerate like a prime Bale there, but his balance and core strength is unbelieavable to be able to do what he did. There are players who have that acceleration. There are players that have the strength, but the combination of the three and having that final composure to take that extra touch and put in a perfect final ball is really incredible.

He also had a few great runs towards the end. He's clearly rapid, although he may not quite have the highest top speed. Would be interesting to see him get more minutes. He also seems quite aggressive in winning the ball back, and seems to be a decent passer of the ball.

Yeah it’s strange really. He’s getting chances, all be it slowly, yet people still complain.

Its clear EtH is aware of him and he’s spoken freely about him since the World Cup and been complimentary. It’s obvious he does like him and now sees him as a first team option.

If reports are to be believed the club have told him he is important to their plans in the future and that’s why he didn’t go on loan in January.

Only because people probably think he should have had similar chances to Garnacho
I think people are just impatient.

Ten Hag gradually used Garnacho and he’ll do the same with Pellistri.

Im actually surprised people are questioning Ten Hag on this as integrating and developing youth players is exactly what he specialises in and enjoys doing as a coach.

He’s been quietly doing it with Mainoo too.

He has the unfortunate circumstance of starting in the same position as Ten Hag's all time favorite player.

I like how he sort of ducks while running to get away from a defender, defender doesnt know whats happening and Facundo is already pass him.

Like everyone else, I'd love to see him get more opportunities. Not necessarily clamouring for him to start a bunch of games, but feels like we've barely seen him even from the bench. Southampton, Betts and Fulham is surely an ideal opportunity.

Wait he's only 21? I thought he was 23! Feels like he's been here ages for some reason
He has been. He's been here since 2020, during the season when we tried to sign Sancho the first time around under Ole. That's quite a while for a young player.

Another player who looks great when coming on. Why can’t we just get a wide player who can start well.

Absolutely - when he did the move, I was like "that's never gonna work", but he really pulled it off. That ducking move whilst running, I've seen very fast players do it before. Keeps your center of gravity low. It was his balance and center of gravity and that composure towards the end that really surprised me. Hopefully we get to see more of him.

Really should get more minutes from here on. Looks more than ready to be a rotation option at a time when we really need rotation options!

Agreed, I think we've seen enough of Elanga to know he's not going to be good enough to part of a title challenging squad. Pellistri is 21, he either needs a proper go next year or move on for the sake of his career. My concern is whether he'll get those chances competing with Anthony, Garnacho, Sancho, Amad and possibly Rashford (if we bring in a striker) and Martial (if he can stay fit).

It's a tad frustrating that he gets tiny cameos and then disappears for a while. Feels rather unfair when he does as much as is reasonably possible in the time given and then no further reward comes. From a fans point of view it leaves you wanting to see more, but in the manager we trust.
