Gaming Football Manager 2019

I skipped FM18 but will 100% be buying this one - any word on the new features?

No doubt they'll add a new UI that's actually worse to use, pointless features that don't help the game, and don't fix any of the recurring issues it has.

Fm12 or 14 had such an easy UI. Not a lot of clicking at all

While I agree with this, the UI in FM2018 did eventually grow on me.

Initially (and when I say initially I mean for about 3 months) I found it awful. Some of the extra clicks you had to go through to do simple tasks were baffling.

That trailer is completely unrealistic. Where's the bit where he tries to tell one of those players they had a good game, only for them to throw a massive tantrum for no reason?

I’ve bought every game on release for about 20 years so I’ll also be getting this.

I will say the studio as got worse over the years with little to no added features and more bugs than the older days, I mean the 3D match engine is a complete mess and I’ve never bothered using it.

There’s no competition so they just release an half-assed yearly update I’d love a real competitor to come along it wouldn’t be too hard to be better than today’s footy manager.

Haven't gotten into FM proper since 16. They're just a bit shit now.

Haven't bought the game in about 3 years, but I think i'll dive in with this one, my job will allow for it with all the travelling i'm doing lately.

Does anybody really care about the 3D engine? Genuine question.

The 2D format has a charm about it, imo - I don't enjoy FM for the graphics.

I agree the studio have become complacent since there's no real competition but I very much doubt your last statement is true. In fact I think no one even stands a chance of creating a football management game that's half as good as Football Manager, on the evidence of the last real competition. Fifa Manager and Champ Man have tried for years but failed to create a competent alternative. It must be incredibly complex to develop and a nightmare to get the balance right.

Having said that I see no reason to get a new version. The last one I've played properly was FM14 and I still fire up my save occasionally, that was a really solid edition.

Since getting a PC with a decent graphcis, I've been playing in 3d, and although you do lose a bit of positional sense of your team, it's nice to actually what shots do.
Sometimes you'll see a goal seem to go in the corner and wonder how your keeper didn't stop it, yet in 3d it's a screamer in the top corner

That makes sense, the few times I've played 3D in the past, the long distance goals are great to watch.

I still play the 2016 version, which was ok. Only reason I would buy this is to get the updated teams.

I play it on only commentary cos I think watching the match engine would turn me off the game completely.

I didn’t get 18, unsure on 19 as if it’s a shit UI then I can’t be fecked.

I still play with the 2d view during normal play and have my replays in 3d. Works like a charm.

I don't like the UI in the newer ones. Also, way too much stuff to do. 2014 was the sweet spot imo.

Bought a new laptop specifically for FM but just couldn't get into 2018. Hoping this one reignites my love for the series.

Please fix crossing. And long shots. And close-range headers going over the bar. And near post finishing. And marking.

I say every year I'm not buying it until they fix most of the annoyances. I'll probably end up getting it by January. Damn my muppetry!

Brought every version so i'll also be getting this. Although I've played this years version for the least amount of time!
Looks like they've managed to sort out the German license for FM19 and there will be a totally new match engine (according to twitter)

Same, I bought 18 but barely touched it. For various reasons.

Bought every single version of the game since 98. This will be the first version I'm not buying upon release. S.I. owe me money for the trash that is 2018 so I'm gonna sit this one out till I know whether the game is any good.

They said they changed the UI but I see barely any difference in that screenshot.

Basically didn't touch FM18, the interface took like 9 clicks to get anything done. It just wasn't enjoyable.

VAR seems a pointless addition.

If the UI is less cluttered then I will get it.

Obviously the tactical revamp is quite significant here. Feel like people are getting hung up on the VAR and not picking up on the fact that now you can choose S playimg philosophy and micro manage on ball and off ball transitions. That’s a game changer.

Yeah I agree. One thing that always frustrated me with the game is it felt like your team played one way in attack and defence.
Now you can get a better idea of what your team is doing. A much needed feature.

Until the AI managers spend money on what they actually need though, the game will always end up a bit messy

Tactics overhaul and training revamp looks great. Been looking forward to something like that, hope it is useful and good.

So far this looks awesome. Only just saw the video with the new features and it's exactly what I have been asking for in terms of tactic overhaul and the training looks much more interesting as well. Of course the game seems to get more and more complex each year but so far I'm really loving what I saw from the new features. Added bonus for me as a German I won't have to buy a UK version for the game anymore and hooray for Bundesliga without any community name fixes. :D
