No member of the American (or any Western Government) is currently trying to buy Manchester United. If they were and trying to use it to cleanse their image, most (if not all) would be against it. This is ultimately what we're talking about here.

The various "wars on Terror" have been horrendous and most of the people who were involved in the Iraq war should be in prison for life. As I say though, they aren't currently trying to buy MUFC. In the context of this debate, its pointless bringing it up.

The Glazers have pretty much stripped the club bare already.

Whoever buys us will have to invest alot of money first, then start their assest stripping at later date surely if that's the intention anyway.

But i'd imagine if we are bought by a shark then it'll look to raise the value of the club for a resale later down the line, by spending money on us first, which must be what the Chelsea owners plan is.

I'd like to think the days of loading the club with debt, taking dividends, and spending nothing on the infrastructure, all in blind hope the club will be worth alot more in 5-10 years are a non starter here.

You will probably argue that the bid is financially backed by the Qatar state but we don’t have any safe proof of that. I mentioned earlier that Qatar is a small country with less than 400 000 native born citizens. Any country of that size needs financial regulations of in and outgoing funds. That doesn’t mean that everything a Qatar born businessman invest abroad is financed by the Qatar state. There’re grey areas that’s difficult to judge and we can’t automatically assume the worst all the time just because the buyers come from a region who practice parts of a religion that we disagree with.

In some places it could be dangerous to voice opposition and unwelcome opinions. Should we automatically call ALL people from these countries for murderers or similar? Yeah? I don't really expect completely clean morals from owners, I just don't think a football club should be owned by a country to then be used for political power. It also makes a mockery of the game when we have some clubs with unlimited budgets competing against the rest, but that's a completely different issue that it seems most still left posting in this thread don't really care about.
