I find it bewildering that Saka is starting ahead of him and Grealish.

England will win the euros despite Southgate.
I get Grealish. He's undisciplined off the ball and is great as an impact player late on. Benching Sancho is mindboggling though. Southgate is just playing not to concede and then nick a goal at the end against tired legs.

Given that the Euro 2020 Final is in London, presumably Sancho will do his medical for United and finalise the move before leaving England, right?

Can we expect this to be finalised within the next week? Or will the England team have a week of celebrations should they win it?

I don’t think they will celebrate for a week, I just want him to do the medicals before he goes on holiday so we can announce and start the celebration.

I believe that the medical is already done since he is already signed.

I like my graphs more. Plus shows their per 90 stats ranked as percentiles compared to other wingers around the big 5 leagues, rather than just totals with no context.

Very clear though that Rashford and Greenwood are wide forwards while Sancho is a wide creator. Sancho's graph shows very similarly to someone like Grealish or Neymar while Rashfords tracks very similarly to Salah's as the elite comparisons of similar players.
Edit: rashford vs Salah
Sancho/neymar/Grealish
Goes without saying, but Neymar is an actual freak, man. He assists and creates at the elite wide creator level but also scores at the elite wide forward level.

So excited for Sancho though, man. We've not had an creative player like this in a long damn time.

The good news is whatever happens tonight we can hopefully get this transfer fully over the line next week.

Treats Sancho like trash all tournament and then throws him on cold for penalties.

Sancho's return to England and the PL has just been turned into a nightmare.

Thanks Southgate.

Thanks Southgate.

I liked the part where Southgate put him on the pitch and he doesnt even get to have a feel of the ball and kick it about a bit before he has to take the biggest kick on the ball of his career against the most switched on human being in the world with the armspan of an albatross.

Southgate can dress as nice as he wants, this one he could have done differently.

Hopefully the club and fans back him like they did with Beckham and Ronaldo in the past after an international tournament.

One of the best players at creating chances in world football, EASILY England's most creative player along with Grealish, yet was brought on I the last minute to take a penalty and nothing else. Despite being 21 and being criminally underused. Southgate is a fecking idiot with how he's handled him

Shocking how little game time he got in this tournament. Southgate too negative and cautious to play him. Pathetic.

Rashford doesn’t look right. I knew he was going to miss when he came on as a sub. I think he needs a good break and some love from Ole; perhaps focusing on only football for a few months when he returns may not be a bad thing.

Tough break tonight. Not easy coming on and taking a pen five minutes later. Keeper is a giant. Lots of pressure. Not a great pen but it happens.

Hopefully he reacts, like David Batty did in 1998, with a shrug, because I’m sure that in the moment he did his best. Move on lad!

I didn't really follow England at all, but is it possible that Sancho simply didn't show enough to be picked ahead of the rests for England? It would be baffling if Sancho was lighting it up in training (or at least doing as well as those picked ahead of him) and not see much playing time.

Don't start him the entire tournament, barely even play him. Keeping him as a mere bench option.

Put him for the last minute of the tournament to score a penalty.

Southgate is a fecking clown.

He did enough in the Ukraine game alone to have been picked moving forward over Saka

I mean let this sink in for a minute, had Saka not missed that game through injury Sancho would have had a total of 10 minutes (give or take) game time over the entire tournament

Southgate simply picked players for their defensive work rate and nothing else. They're all decent players at least. But his every selection was with defensive covering in mind. He was too much of a coward to use actual difference makers in attack and force the opposition to think about how to contain and just worried about how will opponents break England down. This is why Sancho and Grealish hardly played.

He did start a game, though.

The worst thing is that Saka was genuinely really had in every game after the group stage dead rubber against Czech Republic. But tracks back well. He's a great talent, but ffs he looked like a kid in every game these Euros. And then to pick him to take the 5th penalty was insane.

Yeah, and played really well and then was unused vs Denmark and a 120th minute sub vs Italy when they didn't create a chance in the entire game after the 3rd minute goal. Real confidence inspiring.

Yep agreed. No idea what Mason Mount has done in this tournament to start so many of the games. Sancho has been ignored most of the time.
