No chance at everton. Sigurdsson.Chelsea- Think they's start Mount over him
Pool/Wolves/City don't play with a CAM.
Arsenal not too sure he'd start with their new signings.
Spurs no way.
Leicester have Maddison who is better.
Everton?

Nani would do some of that and then the next time he gets the ball, beat a man and put a goal on a plate with a great cross that a striker just has to turn towards goal because he already put the power on the ball in. Thats why Nani always had goals and assists.Oh I know Nani did at least have a couple of solid seasons with us before going off the boil.
I’m not so much comparing their playing style, it’s the frustration that I’m reminded off.
The fluffed chances.
Passes that should be shots.
Shots that should be passes.
The complete mis-control of basic passes.
Failing to beat the full back and get in a decent cross.
One every 9 months?I don't think Ole is playing Lingard thinking "yeah he's going to get me a goal or an assist". I think he's played for his work rate, his pressing and general link up play. Sure he's got a goal in him but it's clear he's being played for other reasons which Ole rates higher, and Jose before him and LVG before him.
At least with Nani, you had hope he could turn it onOh I know Nani did at least have a couple of solid seasons with us before going off the boil.

That's what you took from the post? No point discussing. One every 9 months?
That's because we have no one capable of displacing him in the squad.I don't think Ole is playing Lingard thinking "yeah he's going to get me a goal or an assist". I think he's played for his work rate, his pressing and general link up play. Sure he's got a goal in him but it's clear he's being played for other reasons which Ole rates higher, and Jose before him and LVG before him.
I'd have expected Greenwood to come on for him a lot earlier if he really was that atrocious tbh. Weirdly it was Mata and then Greenwood at 88mins.That's because we have no one capable of displacing him in the squad.
This is a Smalling situation, until we get someone in then Lingard will play throughout the season unfortunately
Ah yeah, right. No chance at everton. Sigurdsson.
I just think when you have an attacking player who offers you such little threat to the opposition it doesn't matter how much you rate his pressing or movement or link up play. That's what you took from the post? No point discussing.
I didn't see that, I think he was poor in his use of the ball for much of the game. Linked well for the goal, but not creative and authoritative enough the rest of the time. I've been a tentative fan of his inclusion in squads but he does not have enough quality to start for us regularly.Played well today. Don't get how you can play no.10 without ever threatening the goal mind but his passing was very good and he won the ball a number of times.
We can but Watched Molde play (under Ole) and their AM didn't just press but he contributed to the attacking play and its not like Lingard doesn't try, he's just not that good. Seen it so many times, he runs with the ball then looses it at important stages, weight of pass is just crap on through balls, finishing is just shit, passes back when under pressure and can't cross.....sadly this type of performance isn't just a one off and only positive I always come up in many games under various managers is........he pressed well but useless otherwise.A 10 purely brought on to sit behind the strikers and create sure, that was a shit performance from Lingard. Ole clearly expects different in his system and its obvious from Ole's expectations that Lingard did well enough. Creativity is important but alone its not sufficient for a good performance.
We can agree to disagree around his performance, otherwise we'd go round in circles.
Same with McTominah i feel. he would not get into any other top six team. Maybe not even Wolves or Everton either.Chelsea- Think they's start Mount over him

Yes it is, and there IS a wider conversation to be had regarding his status as a starter for us. Tonight and Chelsea aren't the performances to go in on him for though. He was crap tonight.
Not dramatically so, not worst ever performance bad, but still pretty bad.
He's not scored in the league or got an assist since Boxing day.
Do you not think thats unacceptable?
Link up, work rate, blah blah blah.I don't think Ole is playing Lingard thinking "yeah he's going to get me a goal or an assist". I think he's played for his work rate, his pressing and general link up play. Sure he's got a goal in him but it's clear he's being played for other reasons which Ole rates higher, and Jose before him and LVG before him.
Let's play Usain bolt insteadLingard is in the team for his pressing and speed threat on the counter.
One is retired in Portugal another one is pundit on TV because no big club were after him.I don't think Ole is playing Lingard thinking "yeah he's going to get me a goal or an assist". I think he's played for his work rate, his pressing and general link up play. Sure he's got a goal in him but it's clear he's being played for other reasons which Ole rates higher, and Jose before him and LVG before him.
You can't come on here and call people simpletons for not agreeing with you though, that's not helping your argument is it.Yes it is, and there IS a wider conversation to be had regarding his status as a starter for us. Tonight and Chelsea aren't the performances to go in on him for though.
His pressing was key in our control of the first half, he was the driving force behind Wolves having to totally bypass their midfield where we could have been exploited.
Someone mentioned about his role in the first goal could have been done by someone else, it's a bollocks point, because it wasn't. This utter refusal to look at the wider picture and look at what he is offering besides goals and assists is what is grating. It stinks of the years of abuse Ji-Sung Park copped on this forum right up until it finally clicked that those aren't the only metrics to measure a performance
A lesson then superbly forgotten just in time for the next whipping boy, it is just so utterly, utterly predictable.
He lacks everything you mentioned in the first sentence. He works hard for the team, can pass, shoot, makes good runs and can tackle, but he does lack something, not sure what it is, but if Gomes cannot replace him by the end of the season then I'm afraid the club is gonna miss out big time.

Anyone remember what Lingard does in a celebration? Yeah me neither. I would say i wish he would just disappear but he seems to do that anyway.
Our No.10 everyone...

He most defo cannot do these things consistentlyHe works hard for the team, can pass, shoot, makes good runs and can tackle, but he does lack something, not sure what it is, but if Gomes cannot replace him by the end of the season then I'm afraid the club is gonna miss out big time.
how many sample time periods did you take that from? presume just the 1One every 9 months?
