They both won silverware at the least, despite poor overall recruitment. Mourinho finished above 80 points in season two. All things Solskjaer has failed to do (yet?)
The football under both, particularly LVG was fecking diabolical.

Ole needs a trophy, but it's been miles better watching utd under him than them two.

We also finished 5th, 6th and god knows where we were going to finish in Mourinho's last season if we didn't sack him. And the football was fecking awful.

I wasn't so much as having a go at Lingard at taking issue with the poster slagging Ole off whilst praising them two.
We did finish second in Mourinho's second season with 81 points. As for the football, remember that 4-0 F.C period in that same season? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he got terminated in the end, his final season was horrific

Unless Ole actually manages to make Ronaldo press (he might), we may need Lingard´s energy in the front row to make up for it.
Cavani and Rashford and Bruno all press more and more effectively than Lingard.

Mourinho and LvG were more successful than Ole but the latter has built a better team and mood around the camp which bodes well for the immediate and long-term future.

I agree, sounds bitter almost.

I mean I like a shiny new toy as much as the next man, but I'm not going to be upset when one of our own players plays well.

Jesse is a local lad, who absolutely adores the club and has been here since he was a young lad and wants to fight for his place for his boyhood club. I for one am happy he's doing well and will give Ole a selection headache. Sure he's no world class midfielder but he's a fantastic player to have for the club. Really don't understand the disrespect he gets.
How local?

Ronaldo's arrival should be amazing for the likes of Elanga, Greenwood and Lingard

If he doesn't start the next time United play Andorra, Ole should be sacked with immediate effect.

It's feasible that he'll never be called up again to be honest.

It's unlikely he'll play enough at United to get called up in the future.

Hes a decent player and would start for most teams in the world. We just have an embarrassment of riches in the position in Bruno and Pogba so he'll never get on the pitch. Even Sancho would probably start in the position ahead of him in most cases wouldn't he?

Gareth goes by how they also do for England. Not just for club. He will get called up again. He will not go the WC though.

I do find it funny how Lingard can score twice and assist against andorra & people tone down his performance - whilst France can draw 1-1 with Ukraine and a player like Tchouameni gets absolute jaw dropped for his performances

You do know there is a huge age gap between the two and they play different positions? A DMs role isn’t to score or assist. His first job is to help defend. So I don’t get your point comparing the two of them.

But right now Rashford is out injured and Cavani is never going to play on the left side. I think Lingard could get some game time the coming month.

I know, but when I saw the Ukraine goal I wasn't the most impressed with Tchouameni either.

I completely disagree with the narrative that he only plays well against shite opposition. He’s been the best player in a few of our more important matches in the last few seasons.
It’s only a good thing that we have him in the squad.

You still have Sancho and Greenwood. The latter isn’t getting dropped soon after the start he has had.

Lads, it's Andorra.
It´s Andorra for the whole bunch out there, and Lingard was the best of the lot. But it´s not just Andorra, Lingard has been playing well for a while now. In matches where Pogba is better utilised in a deeper position, we need someone to make those runs. Lingard does.

And in the same way people who watched Lingard where that impressed he was doing this against one of the weakest international teams there is.

But both of them won´t start all matches, and Lingard may be a better fit for Ronaldo than Grenwood. I´m not saying Lingard HAS to start, but I can absolutely see him being given some chances.

What a thoughtless response. Yes they failed and they fecked up the mood in the dressing room, that's why they're not here. Funny enough they were still able to attain heights Solskjaer has failed to in his time here even with the imbalance and disharmony they brought to United.

Mourinho had a much easier path in the Europa league, and an arguably better squad with Rooney and Zlatan.

Why does points matter? It doesn’t matter if you score 40 points and come second or if you score 90 points and come in second. It’s still the same 2nd place.

Who cares about the path? You play who you're pitted against and they're not many easy games when you get to the knockouts. Are you telling me our squad last season wasn't as good as the 2016/17 squad that made the EL final?

Rooney was in a deep decline at that time and didn't play much, only getting 1500 plus mins in the league and only scoring 5 times in the league and 2 in Europe. Pogba provided assists for most of Zlatan's goals, no other player assisted him more. Did Zlatan himself make that much of a difference? We definitely have a better squad now and last season even

I'm talking about progress in the league in terms of points at the end of the season without considering league position. Mourinho's second season remains the only one in the post Fergie era where we finished with that many points. We're not challenging for the title if that doesn't drastically change

I feel that when young Jesse gets into his stride in 4-5 years he'll be a world beater. We can't be too hard on the youngsters at this stage. Yep he's a bit inconsistent, but he will learn. Ballon D'or 2045 maybe?

It obviously doesnt excuse Ole but it does matter, it was a very young Ajax side vs giant killers and cup specialists Villareal. And say what you want about Rooney, the guy was a leader and clearly a huge presence in the dressing room, same with Ibra, winning mentality and all that.
