Feeling the heat now with Telles sniffing his sweet LB role.
Yup, let's up your game. Good competition.

I honestly dont think that would work too well, but would be interesting to see regardless. If he manages that role as well, we have a very versatile player on our hand. O'Shea MK II, but with a bit more talentShouldn’t he actually pursue a route of Philipp Lahm and Joshua Kimmich? A full back to CDM transformation.
We can just about hide his lack of football intelligence at fullback/LCB, and you want to expose him as a CDM, nice one.Shouldn’t he actually pursue a route of Philipp Lahm and Joshua Kimmich? A full back to CDM transformation.
Not for me personally. I like Telles and he has a good delivery on him, but he's not a better player than Shaw IMO.However, if we play a back 4, isn’t Telles our man?
Was thinking that too. Would be a beast in that system.Reckon Chris Wilder would love him as an overlapping centre back.
The competition for the spot is good for the team either way.Not for me personally. I like Telles and he has a good delivery on him, but he's not a better player than Shaw IMO.
based on 60 mins? I’m going to give him at least a game and a half until I make my mind up. Because once it’s made up, it cannot change, no matter the evidence, and I will always find a random tweet to satisfy myself that my opinion is complete correct. Not for me personally. I like Telles and he has a good delivery on him, but he's not a better player than Shaw IMO.
Telles = corners and indirect FK deliveries. If those are great, that in itself is of huge importance, and should be taken into account. Even if Shaw is a better defender, set piece deliveries may be more important in the long runNot for me personally. I wonder if anyone has ever played a system with two interchanging fullbacks, successfully I mean it could work. It would certainly be unpredictable, if not too messy. Telles as a make shift winger, and Shaw as a midfielder. They both have their uses, I agree. Shaw is very good keeping the ball, and lately driving with the ball too he just sucks on the final delivery.A back 3 suits him to a tee, because he can still defend a large amount of space but isn't required to go forward where he leaves a lot to be desired. In a standard PL match against lesser opposition, I still prefer Telles because he provides another player to create chances from that left wing while allowing Rashford to play more inside. Shaw has shown to be pretty devoid of ideas as an attacker besides being pretty good at driving into the box on occasion, and he is a pretty terrible crosser of the ball. They both certainly have their uses though.
Honestly the most frustrating part of Shaw (and AWB for that matter) for me is that both are dreadfully one-footed. It drives me crazy watching teams dare them to cut inside and them doing a full turn touching the ball only with their strong foot to pass it back. Even if it was just being able to hit passes a dribble a bit on their weak foot, it would take both players to the next level.I wonder if anyone has ever played a system with two interchanging fullbacks, successfully I mean it could work. I thought that was very interesting, he was expecting the run but he stood there and didnt move. I wonder if that's him being lazy or our players being told to defend first and not gamble (appreciate that incident was not a huge gamble btw...)I see so much anger at Pogba's jogging. I'd like to see the same reaction for Shaw now. Jogging in support of Rashford. Didn't move when Bruno asked him to overlap.
Then lazily taking his time after 85th minute.
Poor.
He is not an old school full back either. Positioning is horrendous, then make up for it by pulling someone and receives a pointless yellow card. James put in crosses for fun down that right side too.He is not a good modern LB. People saying that he played better against PSG than Telles, but what position? LCB. His end product is utter garbage. People are already happy if he carries the ball a couple of times past the halfway line, only to do feck all afterwards.
Technically gifted?! He can’t pass, cross or shoot. What are these technical gifts you speak of?Technically gifted player, but in games like that, or when your pusing for a goal, he really doesn’t offer much. Almost never looks to run in behind
I don't think this is it. Wan-Bissaka at the very least was attempting to make those runs.our players being told to defend first and not gamble (appreciate that incident was not a huge gamble btw...)
No need to get confrontational, i was just offering a differing outlook based on my initial thoughts when watching the game and challenging my own thinking at the time. The rest of your post was my initial view too.I don't think this is it. Wan-Bissaka at the very least was attempting to make those runs.
I considered it lazy because of Chelsea's most dangerous moment, which was the cross from James, and Shaw's complete jog to meet him before coming to a halt two meters away while he gets to put an easy cross in.
He was prancing around like that the entire game ffs.
Ah, my bad, I wasn't directing that at you. No malice intended. )No need to get confrontational
Didn't see the game, but sounds like Shaw was a bit reluctant to get forward, but yet as a LCB he seems to bomb forward with great enthusiasm. Wonder if it's because from LCB he has more defenders covering him, perhaps not a great deal of faith in Maguire and Lindelof? He looked slow today. Ole should start considering playing him as CB more.
He was a bit reluctant to do anything today, it seems.a bit reluctant to get forward
