Interestingly Butt has signed a contract extension at Bayern today, he's their current no 1 isn't he? Why would he sign a new deal if they were buying Neuer?

He's 36 and doesn't look to be anywhere near his best anymore. I think he'll gladly settle for being no 2 next season.
There is a bit of a difference because the English League is not only much better than the German league it's head and shoulders above any other division on the planet including La Liga.
And there is plenty of talent in England.
To be honest the english league has always been one of the most competive leagues around while the club sides have usually done well in european competitions, and with the monoply in spain and the dire condition the italian league is in it looks like the Premier League is going to be the best for some time to come.
It's upto Neuer if he wants to stay in his homeland but nobody can deny from a professional side then moving to England would be a big step up.

yeh he was brought in to the club as second choice to begin with, experienced back-up for Rensing. but he became number one after Rensing failed to impress, besides i think he is going to be offered a coaching role after he finishes his playing career at Bayern.
I could be wrong but 4 different winners from the English league I would assume is a record not matched by any other nation as well.

Neuer was and is a world-class keeper. One game doesn't make a player and one game doesn't break a player.
But I don't expect anything else from this place. People jump on the 'buy him, Fergie!!!!!' train based on one single game and jump off it again based on one single game.

You are right, but this was the type of knee-jerker that dominated this thread. They watch one game, love the player in that game and want us to buy him, just to slag him off and deem him unworthy when he has his first poor game.
