Every time he tries to run through multiple players and loses the ball I get an hour closer to dying from a stroke.
But he did that against Italy right? 100% better option to go for.Every time he tries to run through multiple players and loses the ball I get an hour closer to dying from a stroke.
He didn’t have to dribble past anyone. He just ran into the space in the box there. I’m talking about the situations where he’s 1 v 2 at the edge of the box and just runs into them. But he did that against Italy right? 100% better option to go for.
Agree with this, simply because Pellestri and Antony have been woefulNot good enough again today.
He is desperate of a goal or two to increase his confidence.
Would start Garnacho on the left and him on the right in the derby.
He's always been that.I genuinely don't think he can do anything right at the moment. Horrendously out of form and looks like he has the footballing IQ of a Sunday league player right now. Hopefully the only way is up from here.
Interesting take but it begs the question, if he can only play really well in one set up or, as others have said, if he has Luke Shaw doing a lot of work on the left then is he really worth 350K a week? Sounds like a repeat of the whole Pogba and Bruno situations- "you HAVE to play them this way or it doesn't work" etc.He is playing terribly… there is no doubt about it.
But for me, there is a subtle detail that is getting overlooked.
it might not seem like it, but playing on the left in a possession based 4141 and on the left in a counter attacking 4231 is significantly different.
Rashford is a specialist. He is an inside left channel player, who suits football on the break… with an overlapping full back taking a defender away to allow his 1 on 1 dribbles…. and he is very effective in that system.
4141 is far to slow in the build up for him, and forces him far too wide, where he is doubled up on, and forces him to be involved in intricate build up. Playing to all of his weaknesses and none of his strengths.
Rashford will never play well in this system… but he is not only player that the system doesn’t suit (Hi Bruno)
The weird thing is that his mentality was as good as it gets for a young player breaking into the team.Cannot understand what is going on with him at the moment. There seems to be no middle ground with him, he either plays like one of the best footballers in the world or he plays like a man who has zero interest in football. It’s all in his head, maybe he has a weak mentality, he clearly has more than enough ability, he showed that last season.
His PR team in the match thread are persistent. I'll give them that... My orginial comment was just saying Rashford is having a poor season by all metrics. Have I gone mad or something and I'm just not seeing it?Your metrics comment is absolute, total bullshit. The majority of Rashford's metrics are actually better than last year's.
The 'needs a fullback to make space for him' bit made me chuckleInteresting take but it begs the question, if he can only play really well in one set up or, as others have said, if he has Luke Shaw doing a lot of work on the left then is he really worth 350K a week? He's having a poor season so far, i expect he'll go on a good run where he looks great (maybe under yet another new manager ) and then we'll be back to this situation again in a year or so. We wouldn't have achieved top 4 without him last season that's pretty much certain but he's a hard player to figure out and very frustrating to watch.
Turning into a fairly long phase, i'd say. 9 matches in the league, 761 mins, 1 goal and 1 assist. Apart from his glorious phase after the world cup last season, which lasted around 16 matches and was crucial to us getting into the top 4, his form has been a disaster both in terms of performances and goals/assists.Like any player he has phases where it isn’t happening. Unfortunately he can’t just go back to basics to get himself out of it, as he’s bad at the basics. Poor decision making, first touch and close control. I’m sure he’ll hit a purple patch but in the long term it’s very concerning.
Terrible comparison to make. He's even worse than Rooney when he was blowing hot and cold.
At Rooney's worst, his touch was shocking, but at least his passing and finishing were reliable.
More than their whole team I’d say. It may be a coincidence but he hasn’t looked at all arsed since the Sancho stuff has come out. Back to how he looked when he was fit and disinterested in the past. I think/hope the penny will drop again soon and the rest of the season is good from him. Lord knows we need himHe most probably gets paid more than half of the Copenhagen’s team tonight and it’s embarrassing how much our underachievers are paid..
"Becoming"?Becoming very predictable and horribly selfish - as if he wants Hojland to fail….
He is by far. The reputation he has garnered is insane given how inconsistent and technically average he is. He’s the Shahid Afridi of football.Think he might be the most overrated player in recent history.
Yeah I think you're spot one here.Terrible comparison to make.
When Rooney's game/performances dropped a bit he would still work his socks off for the team, sometimes maybe even overcompensating for it.
Rashford on the other hand completely hides, seemingly doesn't even want the ball or lacks a real fight to win it.
It's so infuriating because the talent is there. The way he's playing (/sulking) at the minute, indicates to me that he's only half heartedly taking the tactical instruction on board.....
"I'll do what the manager asks, play where he wants me to play, but I'm not bought into this 100%"
