Just bizarre. Sir Alex has a history of struggling to differentiate between good assistants and good managers, but I really don’t get it…what has Arteta done to deserve so much trust after so much contrary evidence?!
The guy has had two consecutive 8th place finishes and has just endured a horror start to the season what could be gained from allowing him to steady the ship after the international break? There is absolutely nothing that justifies a reason to keep him beyond Monday imo. They're not sacking him right now for sure. For the board, I'm quite certain games versus City and Chelsea were write-offs anyway. And if you didn't sack him at the end of last season or at various other points last season, they won't sack him after allowing him to spend 130m.
However, if things don't improve after the international break, I do see him losing his job in Oct
True, but what new information did you get in the last 2 GWs that you didn't have already? The guy has had two consecutive 8th place finishes and has just endured a horror start to the season what could be gained from allowing him to steady the ship after the international break? Keeping him beyond this upcoming international break is just delaying the inevitable and will be costly because wins against Norwich and Burnley won't do much for them. A few weeks later they will be the league' s punching bag. Better to get the new man in and try to salvage something whilst there is still time.
Its the manner of the losses not the losses themselves that make sacking him imperative, I enjoy seeing them in the mud like this but I think, for them, it's got to the point where they have to stop the bleeding and get some positivity back. This particular international break offers such an opportunity otherwise he will flatter to deceive with a couple of wins then go on another season demaging run soon after. Its about stopping the spiral of negativity and getting the club back on a positive setting before January.True, but what new information did you get in the last 2 GWs that you didn't have already?
Ideally he should have been sacked last December or end of last season. But right now, if you've backed him in the summer, then atleast dont sack him after losses to Chelsea and City
They're friends first. What the feck do you expect him to say IN PUBLIC??? You can't be that naïve to think that Pep is gonna slate his friend, in front the media, in front of the world after his team just humiliated his friend's team 5-0.Trying somehow to defend Arteta FFS, ridiculous from Pep.
Really? You think they're both bad?His shitty signings like Odegaard and White should be enough to get him the sack. But this start to the season should absolutely be the final nail in his coffin.
I'm not disagreeing whether he should be sacked or not. I'm just saying logically, it makes little sense to sack him this early in the season especially as 1. they've invested quite a bit on his players and 2. these games were writeoffs anyway and all the information that Arsenal board would be having about making a decision was present in May as wellIts the manner of the losses not the losses themselves that make sacking him imperative, I enjoy seeing them in the mud like this but I think, for them, it's got to the point where they have to stop the bleeding and get some positivity back. Wenger overstayed his welcome from a footballing perspective, however their problems lie deeper than just the coach/manager. It's the overall leadership, recruitment and running of the club from the top. We're underestimating how autocratic Wenger's reign was. There was little LEADERSHIP continuity planning because he oversaw almost every aspect of the club. Added to that, they have owners who really couldn't care less what happens. So sacking Wenger was a great idea?
Yep, the fact Tierney and Saka have committed to them despite the state they're in is testament to that. You’re clearly going to miss out on top talent, but there must be bucketloads of good young players that want to come to London and play for arsenal. Surely
I don't think either are going to do a whole lot for them, no. Their signings have been pretty awful for years now in all honesty.Really? You think they're both bad?
If the next manager relegates them does that vindicate Arteta? So sacking Wenger was a great idea?
Cause he worked with Pep and dresses like him. That’s literally it. He was overhyped from the beginning by everyone and now everyone can see how he alienates the squad and isn’t a good man manager. I still struggle to see a philosophy from Arsenal. I mean with Ole, even with a shit team when he took over, you could see how he wanted to play within a few months.Just bizarre. Sir Alex has a history of struggling to differentiate between good assistants and good managers, but I really don’t get it…what has Arteta done to deserve so much trust after so much contrary evidence?!
Wenger was by no means shit?If the next manager relegates them does that vindicate Arteta?
Less shit is still shit.
I don't expect him to slate him, but to shamelessly lie about it is ridiculous. Nobody is buying that bullshit. They're friends first. What the feck do you expect him to say IN PUBLIC??? You can't be that naïve to think that Pep is gonna slate his friend, in front the media, in front of the world after his team just humiliated his friend's team 5-0.
I'm obviously referring to the late version in isolation.Wenger was by no means shit?
The real mistake is to hire this guy when they could have hired a more experienced manager. I bet even rafa Benitez would do a much better job than him.The real mistake seems to be not backing and sacking Unai Emery.
What's he going to do in that situation? It wasn't exactly unprompted, he was asked a direct question. A little dramatic in his response but if he's a friend what else can he say and retain his friendship - Arteta doesn't know his arse from his elbow made terrible signings?Trying somehow to defend Arteta FFS, ridiculous from Pep.
The fact is its been established that he isn't good enough so keeing him for a few more months won't change anything and their club is engulfed in a spiral of negativity so there is really no point in delaying executing a decision you know you are going to have to make a couple of months down the line. Keeping him around is pointless because he ain't coming back from this, bring a new guy in and try to salvage the season whilst there is still time.I'm not disagreeing whether he should be sacked or not. The match was done before it started.
Also, find it hilarious no one's been bothered to start a thread this season for them because they're that irrelevant.
learnt a few things from baldy then...Cause he worked with Pep and dresses like him. That’s literally it. Tbf Benitez is an excellent coach. The real mistake is to hire this guy when they could have hired a more experienced manager. I bet even rafa Benitez would do a much better job than him.
Firstly, I'm not an Arsenal fan. Secondly, my point is whoever is the one taking the decision, they might as well give him a month more to see how his new signings perform. Unlikely he'd be a success and it's delaying the inevitable, but from an image perspective (which is required if you want a reputed manager next), you dont want to come across as clueless and stupid. In the last 3 weeks, the board has learnt absolutely nothing apart from the fact that he's shit - something they've known for the past 8 months. So, why give 130m to a shit manager only to sack him 3 games into the season! The fact is its been established that he isn't good enough so keeing him for a few more months won't change anything and their club is engulfed in a spiral of negativity so there is really no point in delaying executing a decision you know you are going to have to make a couple of months down the line. Yes and he was available.Tbf Benitez is an excellent coach.
Why wouldn't he? Arteta is a guaranteed 6 points a season for Pep.Trying somehow to defend Arteta FFS, ridiculous from Pep.
They are well worse than what Utd were.Tbh atm Arsenal still has a better squad than what Ole had when he took charge. At least a similar one. We had to make do with Pereira, Lingard, Fellani, Young, Bailly ... Shaw was half the player he is now. With a dressing room full of egos and problems.
Arteta should simply stop trying to play Pep football without the players capable of. He has a lot of fast players, some fast counter attack and a more direct approach would help a lot imo.
So the solution is to bring Wenger back? Wenger was basically their SAF. I wonder if Arsenal regrets caving into the fans' demand and sack Wenger. They should just admit they made a mistake and ask him to come back. Also that Arsenal FansTV channel is toxic and they should shut it down.Wenger overstayed his welcome from a footballing perspective, however their problems lie deeper than just the coach/manager. Except Pep can ship that player out and buy who ever he wants. Arteta can’t.learnt a few things from baldy then...
You're still not answering the question. What do you expect him to say? You should be watching football long enough to know that managers don't berate each other in the media. Yes, they may have a bit of back and forth in terms of what happened during a game but for another manager to explicitly criticize another in this context is unheard of.I don't expect him to slate him, but to shamelessly lie about it is ridiculous. Nobody is buying that bullshit.
Exactly my thoughts. Why wouldn't he? Arteta is a guaranteed 6 points a season for Pep.
