Papiss Cisse

So close.

At least it shut up the Scousers who were bragging all week about Suarez's "goal of the season".

With a wee bit of luck that would have been the goal of the season.

Barca - they got rid of their Eto'o, why would they want another one? They would have to change their style

Chelsea - Hmmm...

I can't see Tottenham paying 30mil for a player.

The most trophies in one season and the best style of football they played under Guardiola is when Eto'o was there. Not saying Cisse would have the same impact though

I don't see Newcastle selling him this soon after they bought him, plus there's no need for them to sell him either. I'd want to wait for a while longer as well before determining whether he's really this good or is going through a good patch.

We should bypass the players Newcastle have and steal their scouts. But given the choice, I would have Cisse here at United in a shot!

I still cant get over that second goal.

Un-fricking-believable.

What an impact he's had at Newcastle.

Their scout is comedian Alan Carr's dad I believe.

A lot of the credit should go to Pardew, think it's his astuteness in the transfer market. He did the same at West ham before Magnusson sacked him, and he also bought Ricky Lambert for Southampton

Iwould think given that Newcastle will either be in the CL or Europa League and probably having thoughts of staying in or near the top 4 for at least a few seasons to come, that it would take a good size bid to pull him away.

Ah yeah, it'll take a decent bid, but TBF Mike Ashley is hardly known for battling to keep his best players when good sized bids come in. I think it would take a 30m+ bid to get him though.

It would nearly be worth putting in a sneaky 30m bid just to city come in with 40m.

I hope the geordies give him a good send off on sunday. It'll be his last in a black and white shirt at the Sports Direct I reckon.

If one of the big clubs wave 30m at Ashley he'll take their hand off.

Too be fair the newcastle scouts will probably just pick out another 9 million pound striker whos just as effective

I'm really not sure there is another 9m striker out there that's as good.

They still have Ba, who hasn't scored since February

 How do you know that? Did you know how good Cisse would be before he was signed? Course you didn't.

Obviously there is other bargains to be found.

They will fight to hold on to Cisse...because Ba happarently has a release clause that could be triggerred, and they won't support losing both their strikers.

I don't, that's why I said I'm not really sure there's a striker out there as good for that price.

Say City come in with 50m for him, does anyone think Ashley will turn that down? I don't.

I'm not saying he's worth that but stranger deals have happened.

Course they would accept it, they'd be absolutely laughing if they got anywhere close to 50million. Not sure what your point is though, surely everyone agrees that he'd be sold for that amount?

It was more you assertion that there was no similar bargains to be found which I was questioning, since there obviously is. Look at the main thread at the moment in the transfer forum and you'll see an equally good bargain for an attacker at £7million.

Jesus wept.

This is the trend of every player thread on here. "He's good, he'll leave them soon"

It's the same with United latino players :)

Cisse will probably want to stay, especially if Newcastle get the CL and even if they don't he looks like a loyal religious type ;)

Jelavic has 10 in 13 and he was only 5.5m. :smirk:

It's a bit tedious tis all.

I highly doubt Cisse is going anywhere this summer. If he does it will cost up and above the Carroll fee.

Helped you in more ways than one that transfer.
Anyone that comes sniffing round for Cisse will be laughed off if the fee isn't at least £35m. Would be surprised if you didn't hold onto him for at least another season.

Fair play to Newcastle and Pardew. I've nothing but respect and admiration for what you've achieved this season.

...unless City beat you. :D

Should of cashed in on Ba in Janaury....and then cashed in on Cisse this summer.

They'd be up like £100m based off 6 months performances in 3 strikers that way. Geniu$.

there gonna be potentially up 40 million by keeping them both though, just with CL

Newcastle are a good side on the up and Cisse feels very good in their system, he has no reason to leave them now. He'll be just as good in two or three years and he could move then. They also spent £9m on him which isn't really a small fee for Newcastle, they'd want three times that at least now and I can't see anyone willing to pay that.

What's interesting about Pardew's Newcastle is how they seem to be making a seemingly old fashioned style of play, work. They play with two big frontmen albeit with one of them not really up top and they don't try to pass their way out situations always. They tend to keep it simple and lump it forwards frequently. It's their out ball. However once they do win the knock down from the long ball, then they're very quick to get at teams using skill and physicality. Again, long balls are used effectively but they're capable of passing it and keeping it too. Very impressed by them and they've added a lot to this years league.

I cant shake the feeling that Pardew has fluked or stumbled upon a working formula for a team because his past as a manager is hardly littered with great achievements is it? I think all the pieces just fell for him to, for once, have a really decent team. In all fairness though he does get them to play aggressive.
