Paulo Dybala

Pure stupidity from the club if they go back to this deal. They made a strong point by walking away don’t screw that up now.

We don’t need luxury players who may or may not perform. We need somebody to sit in front of our back 4 and do a proper job of it.
Maybe them walking away and briefing the English media was a way of showing they're not desperate and won't be pushed around by Dybala and agent, a valid negotiation tactic.

If there's a change in situation it's natural it would be from Dybala's side as his reluctance and wage demands scuppered it to begin with. Let's see how it progresses today I'm not being sucked in but it's possible to change as deadline days bring all sorts of twists.

He reportedly accepted our offer just the agents demands were the problem.

As far as I know, the wage has already been agreed so that's not the issue.

It's other things such as agent fees etc

Meh, maybe but we don’t need him anyways. Let him vanish into the big black hole in Paris and take the money from Inter.

I read that in the latest update too but wasn't mentioned in the original Di Marzio piece nor in Sky/ BBC reports. I personally think maybe he's changed his mind and accepted the wages but as you say the wage demand wasn't the only stumbling block so there's work to do.

I cannot see that basic wages are an issue on this deal, I'm just not buying into that theory.

Dybala is a World Class talent and the figures that I heard would be the sort of numbers I'd expect to be paying for a player of this calibre.
It's less than Pogba, and less than De Gea are on, (or will be on with their new contracts) and certainly far less than Sanchez..!
Bear in mind that Lukaku is also on £200k per week, and I really can't see that Dybala wages would have been so much of an outrageous issue.
Blimey, we were paying £300k to Rooney 5 years ago..!

Basically what I am saying is that if Dybala really wanted to play for United, we would have been able to meet the wage demands without too much trouble, an answer would have been found.
Bottom line, Dybala just didn't fancy the move.

We will know soon enough. Short amount of time to make things happen now.

If this is the only struggling point then it might be on more than we realise.

I can see why the club went public to shut the deal down if that's the case. It makes Juve get on the agents back, the player will be saying to his agent WTF why are you asking for so much? Hopefully in the end the agent will back down and accept a more realistic figure, and the deal can get done.

IF it's purely that Dybala doesn't want to leave and doesn't want to join us, then that's over.

Was the Sarri mouthpiece where I read that I believe. I think Di Marzio has had a poor summer to be honest.

I actually think we will get Dybala though.

More likely the problem is the 40m EUR or GBP (who knows) lawsuit the previous agents of Dybala have requested... somebody gotta foot the bill, and United is not willing to do that, I suppose.

I ain't so sure... We just didn't wanna pay his agent £13m for feck all.

Yeah true, I reckon we will come to an agreement with Juve and settle it between ourselves.

Record running with were close to Bruno eclipsing Tottenham's offer, if we were to get them both he will have been 100% accurate. He also had Maguire deal closed first as well.

Might be, but they haven't exactly put Dybala in good light amongst United fans with this tactic if so.

Supporters wouldn't honestly care once the season starts. Lukaku would possibly get more stick then Dybala. A few nice words and people would forget...

Agreed once he's here though they won't care. but it's a win win for United, if he bites and accepts, we get our man, if he doesn't we look like we made a smart move by avoiding another Di Maria situation.

In the market these days with big money, you cannot simply take everything at face value......I can't believe how some people are looking at this. What are we meant to do? Bend over? Walk away? Don't believe all you read. Maybe it is over, but if it means the club can save millions? They will mislead people....it's just a reality.

i doubt a mere £13m is holding back the deal. sounds like it would be the image rights issue - there's no way we would allow Dybala to have his own rights when all our other players (Pogba included) presumably do not.

Yes, it's a big thing for United, one that allows us to offer massive wages. South American players need to stop having those 3rd party image rights owners that are a pain really.

Tbh about DiMarzio, he didn't report that Dybala to United was done, just that United and Juve had agreed on a swap, which turned out to be true. Regardless of where Dybala ends up, GDM has still been right about this. Fernandes on the other hand ...

I don't think the amount is the problem but the principle, bowing to agents demanding money like that just gives them even more power and what is £13m today is £30m tomorrow...

They are becoming transfer fees in themselves and it's right the club says feck off.

"The only hitch now would be the maxi commission requested by the representative of Dybala , not a soccer man, so much so that he had more complicated things than anything else in the whole affair. Also waiting for Mandzukic , who slowly seems to be increasingly disconnected from the main operation"

If it's image rights then this is unlikely to be solved in 2 days

This is exactly it.

No I think that's just face saving from Woodward.

If it is the case then the club going public to shut the deal down was a brilliant move, which like you said, gets Dybala and Juve on the agents back.

However I'm sure there's more going on behind the scenes than we realise. It just doesn't make sense for Dybala to stay there if he knows he's not wanted and put off moves elsewhere, especially United.

Wasn't there some sort of scandal early in the summer where he was deleting tweets or something?

According to the Mail. His agent requested £15m to settle the legal dispute. We were understandably outraged.

It's pretty impossible to tell what's happening really, but the fact that the agents are still coming to London, the italian press haven't stopped talking about it - that shows it's not "dead".

I wouldn't be completely shocked to see this suddenly spring alive in the last day or 2 :smirk: it suits both parties, perhaps Dybala just needed a few days to get his head together and realise he's got to move on?

So an agent who is supposed to get his client a good pay packet has got him a good pay packet but is stopping the deal because he is being greedy himself?

 The Great Kermit inside me thinks it's not dead either.

From the Italian side, most are saying it's NOT Dybala doesn't want to move to us, it's his agent asking too much money.

If it's purely an agent fee holding up the deal i'd be shocked if it doesn't go through... let's keep our fingers crossed.

If our brief the other day and only stated we are walking away due to the agent fees, I could kinda get back involved.

However, we questioned his desire to even want to be here, going back on that will look truly stupid.

I have everything crossed, my good man.
