No it wasn't. Fulham are crap, we pressed them and harassed them like we should press all teams and the unit that have played the last two games did well in a small sample size. All of those aspects are completely true and are separate from the main point is that I want to see how this plays out.

Like most United fans I want to see this team win and I identify with this as one of the main reasons why we've actually looked like a competent team in the last two games. It is a small sample size but one that I hope can play out over multiple games.

Although the Liverpool game is a total dice roll. You can't play balls to the wall against them or they will rack up a cricket score on you. So after that game.
You need the right players to press. Against quality opposition, if the pressing game goes wrong you'd be giving away goals for fun on counters. United don't have a decent defence or a defensive midfielder to counter attacks. Matic is out of form and looks tired.

Enjoyed that for a change, we’ve not had a convincing win in months in the league so was nice to change that regardless.

Fulham were awful in the first half and gifted us space but it was nice to see Dalot and Young pushing up and giving us proper width. Quite like that pair as full backs and Young is much better on the left. Mata had a cracking game too.

Positive enough performance, nice to see Dalot whipping in a few first time crosses. Front 3 were busy enough and took full advantage of Fulham barely being awake for 45 minutes so fair play.

Good result. Happy to score that many goals. Dalot has been like a breath of fresh air and is thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Keep on building on from this performance. Bring on the Scousers.

There was a string of games last season where we were scored 4 goals in each match. But most of the goals came in the last 10 minutes and the scorelines often flattered us.

The Fulham match was different. We created a shit ton of chances and were unlucky not to win by more. It was easily one of the most cohesive performances of the Mourinho era.

And cohesion has to be what we aim for.

The talent is already there in the squad, as evidenced by the fact we play like world-beaters the second we go a goal behind. The issue is playing well from the first minute. It's all about cohesion. If Jose can crack that puzzle, we might have our old United back. Whether Pogba has to be the sacrificial lamb to get us there remains to be seen.

Fergie had to rid the squad of some really good players back in the eighties, because he knew that killing of the drinking culture was for the greater good. Cutting away the poser/slacker attitude is the big job for the manager now. He's done it on an individual level with Martial and Shaw. Now he has to do it for the team as a whole. If he can't, the next manager will need to tackle the issue because it's not going away.

The importance of Herrera is going a little unsung here. For me he should be the first name on the team sheet against smaller/weaker sides. Whereas Pogba seems uninterested if he isn't playing a CL-quality tie, Herrera plays every match like a cup final, and that intensity combined with our superior quality against opponents like this is generally overwhelming. He prevents us from falling into our most common mistake against smaller teams, being out-worked and out-run.

Good post. He was very poor vs City but I really agree with the above.

Regarding Matic. He has been one of our best players this season. He has been tasked to be the defensive midfielder behind Pogba, who loses the ball all the time and has hard time tracking back. Matic has helped the defense plenty this season. Sure he had few terrible games, especially the Spurs game whne he was terrible.

But he never passes the ball to one of our players and puts him in trouble.

You must be joking. Matic has been one of our poorest players this season. All getting caught in possession and also out of position and all what he was doing was escorting the opposing player to our goal. Yesterday everyone looked good because Fulham was so poor especially in the first half.

Shaw looked like a blond, stockier version of Darmian against Southampton. I don't know if he's fatigued, carrying an injury, or what. Anyway, it's safe to say Young is our new starting left-back now.

Suggest you concentrate on your own priorities and let others worry about theirs.
Not when he's actively trying to make other people as miserble as him on here. Negativity breeds negativity and people are allowed to be too negative on here without adding any content or worth to a discussion.
