There was a string of games last season where we were scored 4 goals in each match. But most of the goals came in the last 10 minutes and the scorelines often flattered us.
The Fulham match was different. We created a shit ton of chances and were unlucky not to win by more. It was easily one of the most cohesive performances of the Mourinho era.
And cohesion has to be what we aim for.
The talent is already there in the squad, as evidenced by the fact we play like world-beaters the second we go a goal behind. The issue is playing well from the first minute. It's all about cohesion. If Jose can crack that puzzle, we might have our old United back. Whether Pogba has to be the sacrificial lamb to get us there remains to be seen.
Fergie had to rid the squad of some really good players back in the eighties, because he knew that killing of the drinking culture was for the greater good. Cutting away the poser/slacker attitude is the big job for the manager now. He's done it on an individual level with Martial and Shaw. Now he has to do it for the team as a whole. If he can't, the next manager will need to tackle the issue because it's not going away.
