This procession really is something else
greatest people and country on earth. *bar all the ones better than it*I’m no royalist but it does look amazing. Nobody can do this like the Brits
It’s outstanding to be fair.I’m no royalist but it does look amazing. Nobody can do this like the Brits
Need a bit of movement in the box.Slow build up play here.
Is Van Gaal leading proceedings?
Didn't know about the Croft tradition. Haven't seen many of these royal funerals apart from Philip's last year.Surely they’ll be doing Purcell’s Thou Knowest Lord as part of the Croft? I think the Croft/Purcell hybrid has been sung at every royal funeral since whenever.
I’m looking forward to the Weir. Less so the MacMillan; his stuff is rather variable. I don’t like the Parry; the stop-start changes of mood always sound rather daft. Not a fan of O Taste And See either; in fact I think most of the music composed for her coronation is awful. And I’ll have to go into the cellar to sort out more beers during the vile The Lord’s My Shepherd. I dunno; maybe years of singing this stuff has turned me into a jaded old git.
We are planning on going for a walk post-funeral, so I’m afraid we will miss the Windsor bit. A shame, because I love the Harris.
If the modern practice of singing a Nunc Dimittis were being followed, it’s worth bearing in mind that she was a big fan of Harwood in A flat. I’d honestly prefer that.
When it comes to very formal and ceremonial events, they are the very best. Utmost respect of long-standing traditions has its perks.I’m no royalist but it does look amazing. Nobody can do this like the Brits
aye. can’t describe the feeling of relief you get when you place it down and know you don’t have to carry it again or risk dropping it. it’s even harder when the family are chasing you and shouting at you to come back.Them lads must be bricking it - if anyone has had to carry a coffin
Not being funny but it's not "everything" wrong with this country.Whilst I have a personal respect for Queen Elizabeth II & the time she served as Queen, this procession is everything that is wrong with this country and the system of hierarchical Monarchy; the people of the country who she supposedly served are held back and kept out of proceedings via police, as branch of the State that she was the head of, whilst only the ‘elites’ and those who served her are allowed access.
whilst i kind of agree, if you let commoners and poor people in, they would just be smoking or having another baby during the ceremony.Whilst I have a personal respect for Queen Elizabeth II & the time she served as Queen, this procession is everything that is wrong with this country and the system of hierarchical Monarchy; the people of the country who she supposedly served are held back and kept out of proceedings via police, as branch of the State that she was the head of, whilst only the ‘elites’ and those who served her are allowed access.
I would argue that this is a representation of the system that generates all other problems in the country; the view that only a select few matter and the rest can go chasing around for scraps. Not being funny but it's not "everything" wrong with this country.
There are a lot of things wrong with this country.
I know I would be. If you dropped it you'd forever be known as that guy that droppedthequeen's coffin.Them lads must be bricking it - if anyone has had to carry a coffin
Doesn't help with a crap load of stolen gear balanced on top.aye. can’t describe the feeling of relief you get when you place it down and know you don’t have to carry it again or risk dropping it. it’s even harder when the family are chasing you and shouting at you to come back.
Meghan's there processing disrespectfully.whilst i kind of agree, if you let commoners and poor people in, they would just be smoking or having another baby during the ceremony.
at least the one i stole only had “sarah” spelt out on flowers on the top of it.Doesn't help with a crap load of stolen gear balanced on top.
we all know he doesn't sweat.pallbearers sweating like andrew in a comprehensive.
Certainly not all. We have many of the same problems that France and the US have. Republics.I would argue that this is a representation of the system that generates all other problems in the country; the view that only a select few matter and the rest can go chasing around for scraps.
‘The rich man at his castle,
The poor man at his gate.
God made them high and lowly
And ordered their estate’
probably just got a whiff of decomposing body.Great throat clear there 10/10
I take it you've already got your invite for Bobby Charlton's funeral? Or will you be lining the route, being held back by Police?Whilst I have a personal respect for Queen Elizabeth II & the time she served as Queen, this procession is everything that is wrong with this country and the system of hierarchical Monarchy; the people of the country who she supposedly served are held back and kept out of proceedings via police, as branch of the State that she was the head of, whilst only the ‘elites’ and those who served her are allowed access.
There is no greater, or more stark a visualisation, of the class system in the country, as strong now as it was centuries ago.
Maybe her struggling around and screaming in there makes it more difficult.probably just got a whiff of decomposing body.
Wow! A bit of venom there. I don’t think I’m especially smart at all, I just don’t value all of this pomp and circumstance, especially given current issues in the country. It’s not about the venue capacity or anything like that, and I think you know that.I take it you've already got your invite for Bobby Charlton's funeral? Or will you be lining the route, being held back by Police?
People like you think you're so fecking clever with your bollocks ideas. The venue for the service only has a certain capacity, so only the most important people can attend in person.
Whether it's the Queen, Bobby Charlton, or your Dad, you're only going to let the most important people into the service.
Yes let’s just let any Tom Dick n Harry into the queen’s funeral. I’m sure everything will be fine in doing that…nothing would go wrong right?Wow! A bit of genome there. I don’t think I’m especially smart at all, I just don’t value all of this pomp and circumstance, especially given current issues in the country.
For my dad's funeral we sent an open invite and anyone who wanted to come was welcomed.
For Sir Bobby, yeah I’ll be upset (arguably more upset than from this passing) but I wouldn’t take time out to line a pathway or make a vigil. I also wouldn’t queue for days to catch a passing glimpse of his coffin.
I acknowledge that all state funerals are pageants, but you surely have to see the clear divide between the haves and have nots.
Totally disagree, I think she is worth every second and every penny spent, but we all have our own views and this is yours.Such a ridiculous show of nonsensical traditions. The state of these lot parading around dressed in the most bizarre uniforms carrying swords. It’s all so fecking weird and frustrating to know that I pay towards it.
