Ronnie is the reason why there is likely to be a rival tour forming. It's him and a few people he has formed a business with that are currently testing the waters of the opportunity to exit the current players contract and seeking other avenues and playing in non sanctioned world snooker events.

Apparently he sent a letter planning to challenge the legal validity of the current WST deal with the players, arguing it prevents them as self employed individuals, from seeking to find alternative playing opportunities which essentially makes them employees of WST.
The current deal means players have something like 12 weeks of the year where they are free to do other stuff, but given that is usually through the summer, when interest in snooker is far less to the fans, it doesn't really give much chance to play in anything else.

There is a bit of a power struggle going on to try and appeal to the likes of China and now Saudi to attempt to stave off the threat of a breakaway tour. This is why Hearn is now floating the idea of moving the WC away and offering bigger prize money etc, but not sure the players trust him or his son who is really making the decisions. Eddie has no interest in snooker, they just want to sell it off really to the highest bidder. World snooker is essentially up for sale.
Barry Hearn has been involved in snooker in some shape or form for over 40 years. To say his son has no interest in snooker is unfair & incorrect. Not saying they’re not cnuts, but the Hearn mob have a snooker background.
In fairness to the first post, I've heard interviews with Eddie Hearn where he's said that he's a Boxing man and Snooker is his dad's thing - so I don't think he has much of a 'fan' interest in it, just a business one.

Those remarks were taken out of context. In the interviews you’re referring to I think Eddie meant he doesn’t have the same administrative knowledge about the game and contacts in the sport, and not that he has no interest in snooker. But that’s not how the British media spun it. So yeah, maybe Eddie’s not a super fan like his Dad, but their companies certainly have interests in the game.

So what Tip/Chalk combinations is everyone using?

I’ve always preferred my tips to be on the softer side so have generally gone for Elk Master. They’ve always been inconsistent though and I’ve bought a box or bag and done the pinch test to get a feel for which to use and there’s often only 2 or 3 from a box of 12 which I’d deem ideal. Occasionally there is one that is too soft and a bit spongey where you can bend it and see the layers so I avoid those as they just don’t last.

Anyway I’ve just bought some Century Pro G2 tips and waiting for them to arrive. They’re a bit spenny and I wish they would sell mixed boxes of G1-G4 so I could try each and get a feel for them as I’d actually like to try the harder tips out too. I’ve heard Williams is playing with a very hard tip and the majority of pros use G3’s which are also deemed to be fairly hard. I’m just not sure if there is a level of forgiveness I get from the softer tips which the pros don’t need with their consistent, precision cueing.

Anyway on to chalk, I’ve been using green Triangle chalk for years and it’s the OG for me grip wise, by far the fewest miscues and gives me the most confidence deep screwing. But I’ve noticed that a lot of the pros have shifted to Taom with one of the main benefits being less chalk mess on the table. The only other chalk I’ve successfully experimented with was Predator but that was for 9-Ball with my American cue, it didn’t translate to the snooker table at all. I’ve just ordered Taom 2.0 and Taom V10 so will report back but interested to hear others thoughts if they’ve tried Century Pro Tips as well as either Taom chalk.

Ronnie stop it  As if he’s playing a different game to the rest. This morning so far and his first match, I don’t think I have ever seen better match play snooker.

You love to see it
I was a bit nonchalant about Murphy over the years and it wasn't until I was reading this thread that I realised he wasn't very well liked. It does seem he is a real bellend and absolutely loves himself.

Just reading that he claims to be the only person to have done a 147 break, a 9 darter and a hole in one

As for his claim to have achieved the highest one-off accolades in three sports, he said: “That is true and, currently, I think it’s a club of one. I don’t know anyone else who’s done all three.

Twat. Can't stand him either

Ask him to play a game of darts on the spot if he ever says to you by the way. He'll "politely" refuse... no one capable of a 9 darter at any point in their lives will drop the skill level so much out of rust to throw at the level he apparently does by the few who have seemingly played him on the tour (Neil Robertson phone up talksport trying to bait him once and others).

Look, Shaun Murphy, a man who appears to have been sculpted solely out of melted cheese, says he hit a nine darter and I, for one, believe him.

He’s the worst kind of prick, one that thinks he’s amazing and the greatest guy in the world. Ronnie is an asshole but he knows it and doesn’t pretend otherwise, I can respect that.

Wasn't Murphy a proper bit of a god squad man who would lecture people how you abide by rules and shit then cheated on his Mrs?

I don’t know but that sounds exactly like him
That would explain why a mate at work calls him The Bible Basher.
Just read his wiki, it was an escort he met at his church youth group, and he slept with her but didn't have sex with her according to his manager  wtf

Also he was home schooled at some point because he got bullied at school for being a fat toad faced bullshitting twat*

Just seen abit of Maguires post match interview and he said he didn't know Murphys world ranking  and guessed it to be about 5.

Each players ranking is listed above their seat and Maguire would've no doubt seen it many many times during their match.

Anyway, looking forward to Ronnie and Ryan tonight.
