Replacing Rooney

Dzeko then I guess. A replacement for Rooney would need to guarantee the goals and he'd pretty much do that.

Rossi is doing quite well at the moment...

I say we leave the strikers alone. Let our youngsters have a year of battling out, see if any of them are capable of wearing the shirt. Then readdress the situation.

Tom Cleverly suddenly becomes more important in my eyes.

Dzeko would be a tremendous signing, the guy is a goalscoring machine and his all-around game is quite good too.
I'd still prefer to do a deal with Real though (never though I'd say this two years ago :nervous:) - give us Benzema + 30m and we have a deal.

Ruud's contract expires next summer. Good short term deal Larson style?

We would still need a big guy who is capable to score the goals. Aguero is not that type of player and we wont be able to get Torres/Higuan. Dzeko and Benzema are at our league.

Rooney will be around until at least Jan. By then Hernandez or Macheda could be "that" guy.

We should bring in a midfielder then revert back to the 433.

With monies we receive for Rooney (and assuming there is also a few quid as well) is there talented players out there we can use to perhaps buy 2 or 3 players?

No point in discussing big European names here. It aint going to happen.

How much would Arteta and Bale cost? I also dont think we should assume we will buy another forward. But instead look at improving our midfield

i'm not really a follower of Spanish football but does anyone think theres a chance Madrid would get rid of Kaka? -he'd be amazing for us
wouldn't mind me some Pato either but can;t see AC selling him, he's practically all they have left

Not good enough yet, apart from Hernandez.

Rooney age 18 wasnt good enough to replace todays Rooney either. They may well be in a years time.. Maybe not, but I'd want to see how it'd turn out!

I will eat my hat if there is a swap. Its a situation that barely ever happens although papers insist on constantly touting them

Off the top of my head I can only think of Gallas / A Cole and Ibra / Eto's

Oh and I suppose Andy Cole and Keith Gillespie is another one.

Welbeck, Kiko and Hernandez

Now Jason will come and tell me that no one is suggesting replacing Rooney with one of the players we already have.

Macheda and Hernandez are decent talent who have reached the maturity level to take 3rd-4th striker's role, but they are not even near yet to Rooney's level. We need someone who can take the lone striker role and score goals even when the midfield is not exactly delivering the goods. We need a winger and probably a winger to bolster the midfield but Rooney needs to be replaced.

Swaps never happen but Kaka plus 20-30m would be a dream transfer. We get a replacement of sorts for Scholes and plus some money to throw at some other striker.

Crikey how much do you think he is worth? We will be lucky to get £30- £40m for him never Kaka as well:lol:

Was just thinking. Sneijder has his own contract issues. Has said the only club he would move to be would be United.

A straight swap? :D

Rooney will only go to City. It wouldn't make sense to move to Inter.

Kuzszcak and Luke Steel/Paul McShane, Owen and Nunez, Torres anc Garcia

We'll have to use this as a springboard to rebuild, the next few months will really show where were at and where were going as a club i feel, not only do we have to suitably replace Rooney we also have to start looking at replacing the old guard, we have a rebuilding job on our hands now, maybe this will be used to rip this team up and go a different way as it was debatable before the season started whether this team/squad was good enough to win the titles were hoping for anyway.

So.....

Rooney out for arguments sake say 40 million in January couldnt give a feck who to.

Not a lot you can really do in jan so lets say we wait until the summer to start the rebuilding process giving us the rest of the season to see where we actually stand in terms of this squad.

Come the summer we need to spend big, the recent accounts show the club has 164 million in cash reserves in the clubs bank account, Ferguson and Gill have said for months the moneys there well were about to find out for real, because were going to need it big time.

In an ideal world:

Sneijder in 30-40 million
One of Diarra/Defour/Rodewell in for 20-30 million
One of Benzema/Pato/Aguero/Dzeko for 30 million

80-90 million spent, Sneijder in to replace the creativity of Scholes, one of Diarra/Defour/Rodwell in to spice up a pretty average performing midfield and one of the above mentioned forwards to compensate for the loss of Rooney, you could also argue we'll need a new Keeper to replace Van der Sar, not so much worried about the wide options as i think in Valencia (when fit again) and Nani we have 2 excellent young wingers who are more than good enough.

Normally I'd assume this would be a joke, but you've got some funny ideas about football so I think you may be serious. Vucinic is not the answer.

Sometimes I think posters just think everything I say is a joke.

How can you think Vucinic is a joke?

I don't get excited by United spending £30m plus on someone like Aguero. Spending a third of that on a player is much more satisfying.

Of course it would. Its hard to have a new start for your family when you've only moved across town.

And lets remember he had to face a lot of hatred from the Everton fans when he shifted to United. He'll face even more this time so I doubt he would fancy playing at Shitty. His life would be hell.

I've been thinking who could you replace Rooney with. Strikers at that level as such. Theres actually bloody nobody available.

Some are suggesting that we should play Welbeck.

i agree theres not much top class striking talent around at the moment (tho i do like Dzeko) but 2-3 top quality midifielders could have just as big an impact as a direct replacement imo
