We'll have to use this as a springboard to rebuild, the next few months will really show where were at and where were going as a club i feel, not only do we have to suitably replace Rooney we also have to start looking at replacing the old guard, we have a rebuilding job on our hands now, maybe this will be used to rip this team up and go a different way as it was debatable before the season started whether this team/squad was good enough to win the titles were hoping for anyway.
So.....
Rooney out for arguments sake say 40 million in January couldnt give a feck who to.
Not a lot you can really do in jan so lets say we wait until the summer to start the rebuilding process giving us the rest of the season to see where we actually stand in terms of this squad.
Come the summer we need to spend big, the recent accounts show the club has 164 million in cash reserves in the clubs bank account, Ferguson and Gill have said for months the moneys there well were about to find out for real, because were going to need it big time.
In an ideal world:
Sneijder in 30-40 million
One of Diarra/Defour/Rodewell in for 20-30 million
One of Benzema/Pato/Aguero/Dzeko for 30 million
80-90 million spent, Sneijder in to replace the creativity of Scholes, one of Diarra/Defour/Rodwell in to spice up a pretty average performing midfield and one of the above mentioned forwards to compensate for the loss of Rooney, you could also argue we'll need a new Keeper to replace Van der Sar, not so much worried about the wide options as i think in Valencia (when fit again) and Nani we have 2 excellent young wingers who are more than good enough.
