Another one. This guy has not had a big game performance in the cl since 2013. Just rides the wave when his team is doing well and goes missing. Missed 3 chances again today. Greatest stat padder of this era.
When Lewandowski doesn't score in the group stage it's 'he hasn't had a big game performance since 2013' and when he does it's 'group stage matches aren't big games'.

He scored twice against Barca last season, is that a big game performance?

Against last season's Barça, not really no. Not saying that I agree with the rest of the statement though (even if his record against top teams isn't formidable).

45 goals and 18 assists in 61 games against Real Madrid, Barca, Atletico, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Juventus, Roma, Napoli, Lazio, Marseille, Lyon, PSG, Benfica, Porto, Ajax, PSG, PSV, Liverpool.......

Let's look for the list of players who have a better record vs Top Teams. Many of the "big game players" won't have half as good a record.

I'm sure people will look for reasons to claim those aren't big games in the specific seasons he's scored against them.

I'll acknowledge that he did have this reputation rightfully for his first few seasons are Bayern but since Flicks seasons he's gone to another level and it's nonsense he doesn't perform in big games anymore.

Big names/Big clubs. But sure, even without those, the point stands just as strongly. If I'm not wrong, only Messi and Ronaldo have more goals in knockout games than Lewandowski.....

A box striker who doesn't touch the ball all night somehow is at fault? The team behind can't even give him the ball to try to make something on his own.

I wanted to comment when the game was going on also, the commentators talked about him like he's a one man team or prime Messi-like. Did they only see him just this season? He's at the end of his career almost, what's up with their impression like just seeing him playing after moving to Barcelona.

At Bayern and Dortmund he's had a whole team feeding him, somehow at Barcelona they expect to create and score on his own. bs

He obviously has a great record in KO games, but his record against (real) top team is good without being impressive.
Liverpool : 0 goals in 180mn
Real : 1 goal every 134mn
PSG : 1 goal every 317mn
Barcelona : 1 goal every 109mn
Juvenus : 1 goal every 210mn
CIty : 1 goal every 277
Atletico : 1 goal every 216mn

It's good, not great. On average, he scores once every 3 games against top teams.

The year they won the UCL with him, the goals in KO rounds for example weren't exactly decisive. Scored the 6th or whatever goal against Barcelona, the 3rd against Chelsea (1st leg) and the 3rd against Lyon. He did score the opener in the second leg against Chelsea though.

Are people doubting Lewandowski for not scoring in a game of group stage? Ridiculous

Seems like everytime a big player doesn't have a good game, his thread gets bumped by his haters remembering his past failures.

Lewandowski is on his last legs, ridiculous to even judge players career based on his 2-3 last seasons at the top level.

I can't imagine Zidane, R9 , Ronaldinho, Batistuta, etc threads right now if they were on his last seasons, considering how atrocious they were before retiring...nostalgia is still winning.

Lewandowski is alongside Luis Suarez the best out and out striker/no 9 of his generation. Benzema is not far behind.

This is pretty impressing for that competition.

Lewa something like 6 goals in 16 games and Ronaldo 7 in 14? Ish? That is not a world of difference compared to one of the two greatest goalscorers in living memory.

I’m struggling with what the discussion is about tbh. Disregarding a few posters running with ‘flat track bully’, I assume both of you accept Robert Lewandovski as one of the best strikers of our time? What are the claims?

Let's conveniently ignore that he assisted the two opening goals against Chelsea in the first leg and assisted Muller's first against Barca.

Barca are not good that's a fact and him not scoring there isn't any marker of his talent. He scored an absolute beauty of a goal Vs Mallorca on the weekend all by himself. Sometimes you need help from your team.

You cannot really expect a great game from Lewandowski if your "strategy" is to hit 50+ crosses into Inter's defense.

He got completely shutdown yesterday with double marking by Bastoni and Skriniar and that's probably your best bet against Lewy - Barca was not able to capitalize on that and he looked useless. Still, to claim he usually does nothing in big games is just not true.

Lewandowski scored 5 goals against RM in the 2012-2013 CL campaign and ever since then he's added exactly 1 more goal to that tally.

He's been a monster for the last three years, that header was fantastic.

Him, Haaland, Benzema and Kane, amazing strikers.

I always feel like Kane doesn't belong in these talks, no matter how much people try to sneak him in

Clearly and understandably still hurting.
Speaking ahead of Monday's awarding of the 2022 Ballon d'Or, the Poland captain made his frustration known whilst discussing the likelihood of Benzema scooping the accolade. He told Movistar Plus: “He’s probably one of the favourites to win the Ballon d’Or, of course if they don’t cancel it, then probably he’s going to win this Ballon d’Or, yeah.”

Time to put in a sneaky bid? Should have 2 or 3 years left at the top.
He always takes care his body appropriately and seriously plus his wife is a nutritionist and a karate fighter who plan his diet during the day. I doubt he will perform at the highest level until 35-36 years old and then he will face some decline.

That's my prediction as well, will be great for any club to have for that duration.
