When do those fellas not have grim faces? I've never seen Shoigu even smile I think.

They look normal most of the time. Here they look like a group who narrowly escaped death but may face it again very soon. When do those fellas not have grim faces? I've never seen Shoigu even smile I think.
Whoever does best gets to be the new Putin.2nd speech of the night coming up - guessing each lookalike is getting a go.
I don't think a 2nd is coming?2nd speech of the night coming up - guessing each lookalike is getting a go.
That poor fecker at the end who confidently jumped into a muddy area, certain that there were no mines there. Horrible.I just watched some clips of Ukraine soldiers in the minefield. probably the worst I've seen in a loooong time so I'm not posting it. it's simply crazy how we managed to come to this.

Absolutely horrific and incredibly heroic. That guy at the end self applied a tourniquet on what remained of his leg in less than 25 seconds. Looked like they got everyone in the Bradley by the end.I just watched some clips of Ukraine soldiers in the minefield. probably the worst I've seen in a loooong time so I'm not posting it. it's simply crazy how we managed to come to this.
They would’ve taken Wagner imo, especially since they have the benefit of the creator of the Universe on their side.Tweet

Because they hate each other since the 90s. Lukashenko at that time had ambitions to become Russia's leader (and further uniting Belarus and Russia to make that possible). Why do you think he wants rid of Putin? If it wasn't for him he would have been an ex dictator by now, probably drinking vodka with Yanukovich.
You say got some nukes as if he has control over them. Nothing can be further from the truth. This notion really needs to die.Because they hate each other since the 90s. Lukashenko at that time had ambitions to become Russia's leader (and further uniting Belarus and Russia to make that possible).
He needed Putin's support to stay in power, but so far he managed quite well to stay out of trouble about Ukraine, got some nukes and might now get a battle-hardened army that is actually respected in Russia. Wagner also gives him access to Africa due to their activities there.
Brokering deals that benefit him/Belarus while Russia is sanctioned into oblivion could well be his endgame here, but he needs to be careful so that the Russian army in Belarus won't get rid of him.
When Russia delivered the nukes he publicly stated that so far no country owning nuclear weapons was ever attacked, so he needed them as a security guarantee. That is a correct observation, but one can wonder if he meant Russia that has to be deterred...
Yeah, Russia stationing some of its weapons in Belarus, does not make Belarus a nuclear armed country. You say got some nukes as if he has control over them. Nothing can be further from the truth. This notion really needs to die.
Unclear to me who would be the mutineers, unless Wagner actually manages to remain here. But it's definitely made Putin look weak, and that's the worst possible outcome for a strongman dictator.Putin looks really weak here. Expect part 2 of this armed mutiny to occur shortly.
I am sure at the moment he hasn't, I agree. But I am also sure that he will try to change that. You say got some nukes as if he has control over them. Nothing can be further from the truth. This notion really needs to die.
That's a bit surprising in tone.Tweet

Lukashenko is the master of press conferences and keeping Putin happy but this might be the first time he's implied anything negative about him. Other than that it is standard NATO = bad stuff. That's a bit surprising in tone.
Yes, no surprises about nato. The Putin comment though is slightly off.Lukashenko is the master of press conferences and keeping Putin happy but this might be the first time he's implied anything negative about him. Other than that it is standard NATO = bad stuff.
No one stays in power 30 years without being a cunning cnut and know what to do in certain circumstances. People might laugh at lukashenko and have him as a stupid clown but he has shown how to deal with very complicated situations against his own people showing when to be cruel and push the limits with the EU neigbhours and also walking a thin line in the ukranian war without entering directly in the conflict and not alienating putin. Is it all a set piece, or is Luka showing some gonads? Did he actually save the situation? Seems highly unlikely. He was ready to go last night, but needed another rehearsal.
The simple fact that no one denies that he was involved in saving the situation proves that he must have some influence inside Russia currently. Is it all a set piece, or is Luka showing some gonads? Did he actually save the situation? Seems highly unlikely. He was ready to go last night, but needed another rehearsal.
Surely there are political games going on behind the scenes. This has been a disaster from day one so I have no doubt that powerful people in eth security services have positioned themselves to benefit from this. Who knew of Putin before he was swept to power by the elite who backed him?Unclear to me who would be the mutineers, unless Wagner actually manages to remain here. Putin needs a success and he needs it sooner rather than later. But he must have handed out many favours throughout the years and can probably call them in now. Not to mention that the Chinese would probably prefer him to some unknown quantity backed by the FSB.Surely there are political games going on behind the scenes. This has been a disaster from day one so I have no doubt that powerful people in eth security services have positioned themselves to benefit from this. The FSB may have been happy to apply pressure to Wagner to get them to back down, but that doesn't mean they support Putin. There'll be games within games going on.
In my opinion this is all headed where a lot of people thought it would head when the original invasion failed. How can he survive long term?
If true it can't be the end of this storyline? Surely the MoD isn't weakening its best asset for the sake of it?Tweet

Kinda feels like Russia has disappeared so far up its own arsehole trying to blur truth that even they don’t know what’s going on.If true it can't be the end of this storyline? Surely the MoD isn't weakening its best asset for the sake of it?
But what choice does it have? Putin cannot afford to leave Wagner at their current strength. He’d rather stay in power and lose in Ukraine, than win in Ukraine after being deposed. If true it can't be the end of this storyline? Surely the MoD isn't weakening its best asset for the sake of it?
