That celebration yesterday summed him up, all that hunger and drive at such an old age it's unbelievable. He could so easily call it a day with 12 titles but he just keeps on going and going. He might not be an angel off the pitch but let's face it we all have our vices, I don't think Giggsy will fussed about a knighthood at all.

Across the Universe....from Old Trafford.
1000 looks very unlikely. closer to 950-960 i believe is where he'd finish.
If he even plays 15 minutes, it counts as an appearence. I can see Him coming on to hold things together after we have the game in hand..or even 45 minutes starting.

He is very lean and looks health...who knows.

it would be incredible if he does achive 1000 and retire on the 1000th appearence.

Glooory........... :)

Haven't had a chance to post since last week but this thread and the man pretty much sum up everything, his drive to get us that vital three points on Sunday is everything every young player needs to learn, he looked like he was trying to win his 1st League title not his 13th.

I am sure someone will correct me but I cannot think of a player at this age at a top club still playing this well and remianing such a key part of the team.

Teddy sheringham retired at 42. Giggs could top that
Yeah but he ended up playing in League 2 or something. I don't think Giggs will get 1000 appearances for United and I can't see him ever leaving the club, except when he retires completely.

21 years to the day since he came on for Denis Irwin against Everton to make his debut.

Only Maldini in recent years I can think of.

Think if he carries on this form he should be up there again this year for PFA Player of the Year.

Not taking anything away from Giggs, just that Zanetti is a similar freak of nature

Remember all the criticism he was getting around 2002/2003 and there were rumours flying round that he'd go abroad and then he scored that goal against Juventus, ran to the crowd, turned round and pointed to the name & number on his shirt as if to say "THIS is what you'd be missing, now STFU".

Goal #9 (about 40 seconds in):

The pace for the Chelsea goal 7 was a joke.
Cob one of the funniest celebrations.
And city one is funny when curle is pointing, telling him to shoot and he smashes it in the top corner.
Think g Nev was laughing about that on twitter the other day.

Goal Number 2 on that compilation was 11 days before I was born, I think that sums everything up nicely.

Made a massive difference for us today, bit of brainfart for the goal but I'll let that slide.

With him on we looked much more composed. Apart from his mindfeck he was brilliant.

Definitely added composure when he came on.

Got an assist as well!

Actually he only has two more to go for the European club record. Next game he will match Maldini.

Think he's become a PL specialist at this rate. Too slow to play against teams that attack us like this.

I don't mean this to be a knee jerk but if he isn't careful he's going to do a Maldini and have sections of our fans calling for him to retire which is the last thing his legend deserves. Statistics will show he has been somewhat productive in the last couple of months but anyone who watches the game could tell you his form has been down and it has affected our performances.

He looks like a passenger at times and tries to many flicks. I love the guy to pieces and I'm terrified he's going to taint his career by not finishing it before it's too late.

Don't be a spastic. Those fans were shit. Maldini wasn't that bad, neither is Giggs now. He's been one of our best match performers on more than one occasion and more than two occasions.

Funny because that's what it looks like.

He's been one of if not our most productive midfielders this season.

Ah feck it. He's untouchable. Forget the fact his mobility and inability to play simple passes and constant playing of the "flick on" leads to us constantly getting over run in midfield. I've given him credit for coming up with the odd assist but it cannot be over looked that his actual play is becoming detrimental to our overall play.

Over the last 2 months, his form has tailed off. But like I said, it's Giggsy and he's immune from criticism. :wenger:

Sorry for not being a top red.

Yeah damn these top reds who're defending a player who has given us 20 years of loyal service and who currently has the third best assist stats in all comps (just one behind the joint leaders.

Fergie's obviously just taking pity on him by playing him, absoultely past it he is.

20 years of loyal service means feck all to the opposition up against him for 90 minutes. Fergie is playing him for his experience and due to the lack of cover in both midfield and on the wings.

No player should be exempt from criticism, no matter what they have done for the club. They are United players and they know as well as anyone what the standards are. You're happy to whine about that midfield being completely over run but the energy, physicality and technical play of the opposition but you'll ignore the fact that we have a player that just couldn't keep up with them today? He came on against Tottenham and didn't look a lot better and even managed to assist Defoe.

Like I said, he's a legend, he's been my favourite player for 20 years and I love him to bits but he is affecting our play in the middle. It's as simple as that.
