Does seem a trend in when we get a smaller glimmer of hope the virus comes back with a vengance in some way. This really is shocking. The nation will be on tenterhooks if this plays out over days. I did feel like we were all getting into a bit of complacency these last couple of days.
How fecking stupid it would be to say “I told you so” one month into a pandemic. That depends on the exact nature of the lockdown they already have and the exact nature of the measures they are planning to roll back. I do not know them in detail.
Why aren't you discussing Sweden anymore? I said no one would be stupid enough to say "I told you so" in something as tragic as this, but you tempted me beyond reason.
Seven Prime Ministers have died in office:Has any British prime minister died whilst being in power?
If we had our time again, we'd set up quarantine zones at every port or airport.I actually thought the best plan was to completely cut off China in January.
Seems only really Taiwan did a good job.
The US and Brazil were just out of sheer stupidity, there wasn't even any kind of herd immunity argument. It was mostly pitched by politicians saying "this ain't shit". Didn't the Netherlands also lean in the direction the UK was initially? Can then someone explain why the worst policies (and contrary to what everyone else was doing) were made from countries who seem to be tired of experts and have nutters (or wannabe nutters) in charge? Talking here for the US and the UK. Oh, add Brazil there. I think that I see a pattern.
Yup, I think 99% of countries will realise they have a hell of a lot to learn. If we had our time again, we'd set up quarantine zones at every port or airport.
But hindsight is easy like that.
Just cracked open a bottle of whisky and I might even start on the vodka!GP on Sky saying we need to drink much more than normal. Boom.
We've had some decent exchanges on other footy threads...but I have to ask. Are you on a mission to get yourself a ban today fella? Seem to have been in the thick of arguments all dayNo, you guys are always desperate to create a strawman in here.
Germany are talking about an exit plan, and Austria too. I’m not “cherry-picking”, I think it’s obvious now that we’ll have to slowly open up and try to keep things under control in ALL countries, once the opportunity is there.
But yeah “chatting shit”, “don’t know shit” etc etc.
If you plan isn’t to lockdown for 12 months then I’m not cherry picking or chatting shit at all, I’m saying it’s good news when a country who feels they have a stable situation, wants to start opening up slowly again.
The anger and arrogance in here though to anyone who dares to question.
Can’t watch right now. The reason for this being? Sounds great.GP on Sky saying we need to drink much more than normal. Boom.
UK's (said by Boris) "herd immunity" strategy was the most idiotic response someone ever said. It was sheer idiocity, and I cannot believe that an expert actually chose that option. The experts actually do not choose options, they offer options to the politicians. The US and Brazil were just out of sheer stupidity, there wasn't even any kind of herd immunity argument. It was mostly pitched by politicians saying "this ain't shit". Didn't the Netherlands also lean in the direction the UK was initially?
The only positive is that he'll have the best medical care there is around him.He is still a young man. I hope he recovers.
It was dehydration I think. Might have been hydration, but they're similar so...Can’t watch right now. The reason for this being? Sounds great.
Weird arguments for me.We've had some decent exchanges on other footy threads...but I have to ask. Are you on a mission to get yourself a ban today fella? Seem to have been in the thick of arguments all day
One thing to note from that report is that 83% of patients that only received basic respiratory support have survived. It's the patients who move onto advanced respiratory support that the situation is very bleak for (2 in 3 don't make it). As far as we know Boris has only had to receive basic support so far.Tweet

Definitions said:Advanced respiratory: invasive ventilation, BPAP via translarygeal tube or tracheostomy, CPAP via translaryngeal tube, or extracorporeal respiratory support
Basic respiratory: >50% oxygen by face mask, close observation due to potential for acute deterioration, physiotherapy/suction to clear secretions at least two-hourly, recently extubated after a period of mechanical ventilation, mask/hood CPAP/BPAP, non-invasive ventilation, CPAP via a tracheostomy, intubated to protect airway
"In power"... in office I meant.Seven Prime Ministers have died in office:
- Lord Wilmington, who died on 2 July 1743, aged 70.
- Henry Pelham, who died on 6 March 1754, aged 59.
- Lord Rockingham, who died on 1 July 1782, aged 52.
- William Pitt the Younger, who died on 23 January 1806, aged 46, the youngest to die in office.
- Spencer Perceval, who was assassinated by John Bellingham on 11 May 1812, aged 49.
- George Canning, who died on 8 August 1827, aged 57.
- Lord Palmerston, who died on 18 October 1865, aged 80 (two days before his 81st birthday); the oldest to die in office.
England, but she works in ICU at a hospital so she was tested next day when she said had body aches. High risk of contracting plus they desperately need ICU trained staff so it was important to find out. She can go back to work next week.Whereabouts in the world are you? I know a few people with symptoms and nobody can get a test.
You really should give up trying to talk sense. Obviously the U.K. Chief Scientific and Medical Advisors should have been ignored as Pexbo suggests. Anyone with the slightest bit of intelligence would know that. What? They didn’t ”chose”, the advise came from The Chief Scientific Adviser to the Government of the United Kingdom and his team.
Spencer Perceval. But he was shot.Has any British prime minister died whilst being in power?
And my faith in the sense of some on the caf to see an argument for what it actually is, is thankfully restored. You really should give up trying to talk sense. Obviously the U.K. Chief Scientific and Medical Advisors should have been ignored as Pexbo suggests. Anyone with the slightest bit of intelligence would know that.
I hope Johnson recovers.I’d rather it be neither. Jeez man what’s wrong with you?
Hope he recovers. The guy has kids & a pregnant wife.
Just maybe, the bigger problem is that your style is quite annoying, more so than your different views, that are actually shared by many nordic and german posters, largely because we are in different situation than the countries in more imminent crisis. Whereas @Arruda is loved by everyone, obviously. And my faith in the sense of some on the caf to see an argument for what it actually is, is thankfully restored.
And you don’t think that posters are cherry picking on the opposite side basically arguing that in the Western world everyone was in step with regards to what measures to implement and how quickly to implement with the exception of the U.K. and The USA?I think the problem lies in basing your entire points by cherry picking what certain countries are doing to prove a point and it rubs posters up yhe wrong way.
As if they are right and the rest of the world are wrong.
Do Sweden and Denmark have more experts than the rest of the world?
That's so kind of you.I hope Johnson recovers.
If it happens to Trump or Xi, I won't.
I don't get why we need to pretend to be nice, if some of the people I absolutely despise die, I'm not going to pretend I'm sad. That's so kind of you.
We did lose Spencer Percival to assassination in the early 19th century. He was MP for my home town.So a prime minister hasn't died in office in 155 years nearly.
Well said.Just maybe, the bigger problem is that your style is quite annoying, more so than your different views, that are actually shared by many nordic and german posters, largely because we are in different situation than the countries in more imminent crisis. Whereas @Arruda is loved by everyone, obviously.
You absolutely despise? Nice and compassionate are not mutually exclusive. It's a pity many of the posters with frankly abhorrent attitudes didn't have to go through the newbie system.I don't get why we need to pretend to be nice, if some of the people I absolutely despise die, I'm not going to pretend I'm sad.
Or more scarily professing that the government should have impinged on our civil liberties far more aggressively early on by tracking all our phones and locking citizens up who'd been in contact with people who tested positive. Frightening. And you don’t think that posters are cherry picking on the opposite side basically arguing that in the Western world everyone was in step with regards to what measures to implement and how quickly to implement with the exception of the U.K. and The USA?
