I was being sarcastic with my reply buddy. It's just classless to me and if we expand the trend it can get a bit silly. Imagine going to the Adiddas stdium a week after going to the Nike stadium followed by a trip to the Puma bowl.
Im sure there's some way to work White Hart Lane into it, maybe double barrell it or something. Have the Nike name on the broadcasts but its refereed to WHL in conversation. Just something.
I think I'd survive. Possibly even be completely indifferent about it!

That ship has long since sailed. Football is becoming commercialised and clubs will do pretty much anything that can to bring in more revenue

You lot even have an official noodle sponsor ffs

If, say, Inter were to play at Bayern on Wednesday and then at Juventus on the Saturday, they'd be going from the Allianz Arena to the Allianz Stadium.

Ironic stadium name, they haven't "done" anything.

Yep! Spurs fans will called it WHL. Everyone else, including pundits and the media, will refer to it as its actual name. The Nike Stadium.
Arsenal's stadium was supposed to be called Ashburton Grove, The Grove, Arsenal Stadium etc... That lasted a week before everybody called it The Emirates because that's what you keep hearing in the media. Nike Stadium doesn't sound awful to be fair, you'll get used to it.

https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/ne...m-test-event-matches-and-opening-game-update/

Test events now confirmed, as well as the first matches (based on Crystal Palace/ Brighton progress in the FA cup).

Seems we've managed to arrange it so that a league match will definitely happen before the 1st leg of the CL quarter final, so seems we will play our home game there.
At this point I don’t know why they don’t just start fresh next season whilst having test games in the summer. Changing stadium a month or so before the season ends including a champions league home tie sounds like a terrible idea.

The fans fecking hate Wembley. We'd walk over glass to get back home.

Do it ASAP.

Well I for one am ecstatic we are moving in this season. Its all very stale at Wembley now. This is a major boost for all spurs contingents. Well done THFC, we got there in the end. The start of a new era. COYS .

Nike Stadium sounds shite. Even The Nike Arena would be better

A lot of Spurs fans I know despise Wembley, the atmosphere, prices, the slog there.

I know it probably feels that its in London and therefore what's the difference but London is humungous and to fans from N London/ Essex/ Herts etc, where a lot of the fanbase is from, it is actually a huge slog and adds in some cases 1-2 hours to their journey time each way. I know quite a few who've stopped going this season and especially with the deal that Levy has offered with the problems (refund on all home matches if you're a season ticket holder and don't want to go), I know lots of fans also who've taken up this option. The walk out of Wembley way if you leave at FT is long and it takes a fecking age to even get into the tube station.

The players, fans, even Poch seem a bit fed up of being in Wembley every game now. We need to move and it will be good to go back home. Because of a quirk of fixtures, while our 1st match there wouldn't be until early April, that means (barring anything going wrong), we've played our last game in Wembley as a home team now.

I am incredibly relieved.

I'm happy for Spurs fans, much as we like to rub salt into their wounds. I know a few real diehards and they've hated every second of playing at Wembley.

I know Emirates is a well known brand but for some reason it never feels like a sponsors name when talking about The Emirates. Probably because as you say, you get used to it.

Yeah getting to Wembley is a pain and also the area around the stadium is completely lifeless. It feels so fake and...North American

Alright, I didn’t realise Wembley was so bad. Fair enough then sooner the better if that’s what the fans prefer.

That’s what is very strange. Puma will be fuming. You the Emirates and The Reebok stadium, but those were sponsors/ affiliates of the clubs beforehand (I assume). Unless Nike will take very short sponsorship next season?
Strange post. Puma won't care, considering they've not been involved with the club for 8 years. Nike have been sponsoring spurs for 2 years and already had a deal until 2033.

Thanks for clarifying. The poster I quoted said that puma make the spurs kit. If that’s the case, that makes sense. I suppose it shows the lack of promotion spurs have in the general football space if I don’t know who makes their kit.

Bother is a strong word, but clearly all teams should be playing against Spurs in the same stadium.
This makes no sense. It would mean that all new stadiums have to be completed during a short window each summer in between seasons … and if they were late by even 1 week then the finished stadiums would have to stand empty and unused for 10 months.

I feel like the 'Spurs shouldn't be able to play teams in different stadiums because its unfair' argument carries less weight when we play in a league where january signings are a thing.

How about last season when teams faced Liverpool before and after Van Djik signed, was that fair? Or heck, when Liverpool signed Suarez?

Nobody seems to have such objections to this, even though having extra (sometimes world class) players is a much bigger difference than what venue you're facing a team in. I really don't get the fuss that makes out there will be some huge difference, the new stadium will probably feel no more home than Wembley does now, I would be surprised if the results there differed much if at all.

Should have clarified that I meant at first. We'll likely have a little settling in period where we might get a couple of dodgy results, I doubt it'll be a fortress immediately.

Long term I expect it to become a proper home and for our home record to be more impressive, because Wembley has never felt like home at all.
