The F1 Thread 2012 Season

I also forgot to point out Webber is good on a sunny day when the clouds align and a bear takes a certain shit in the woods in an exact spot.

He's got worse, RB need to be reviewing his contract for a get out clause.

Mass crying because he knows Vettel had no right to finish that race!

No, he's crying because he's made the podium at his home grand prix and for a long while not long ago it looked like he might die.

This is the like equivalent of City winning the league again.

Bastards redbull need to piss off out of this sport.

It's actually why Vettel probably doesn't get the credit he deserves, Webber is just a punch bag for him. Get a top driver in there Red Bull ffs, hes a 3 time WDC now he doesn't need to be baby'd.

How did Red Bull get so good at F1?

They compiled an excellent design team of all stars headed by one of the very best in Newey, key to this was giving him free reign something of which McLaren didn't give him.

They also spend the most money on the grid, by last report they spent £60 million more than Mercedes did last year (no data for other top teams). They are a fantastic team and built some of the best cars ever, 2011's car is probably one of the best of all time.

Missed it and just saw the results. Anything major worth talking about happen, apart from the obvious?

So well the penalty won't really happen. Would still be fun if it happened after all this celebration though :D

The spend more money than they earn.

The drinks company invested shit loads of money. I don't think their racing or car firm makes a profit.

It's a bit like City, subsidised by other parts of the owners business, but is unrelated to football (cars).

Interesting, but how do they have more money to spend than the likes of Ferrari etc?

Vettel caused a crash at the start, came out unscathed, broke the no overtaking rule under yellow flags and overtook, had Schumacher pull over for him to let him past so that he won the WDC as it was looking like he might not, and then 2 safety cars finished the job.

I think Grosjean took someone out again, can't really remember.

Hulkenberg was first for the majority of the race before he fecked up and took out Hamilton and got a drive through.

Apart from that, it was actually a hell of a race.

f1 is completely different.

Merc, scuderia teams are funded by their parents corporations and not solely from the revenue from their racing arms.

It would be like saying its ok if we spend a billion quid if we were owned by nike because nike make their money in sporting goods and we are a sporting club.

I suspect that quite a few teams spend more than they earn, quite a few drivers are only in F1 because of the sponsorship they bring in.
Very unfair to say Red Bull are like City.
F1 is run totally differant to football.

I strongly disagree. We can consider car manufacturers, and Red Bull isn't and won't ever be one of them.

Red bull won't make enough money as they spend on merchandising or sponsorships either.

If you think Redbull, or force india or someone like that are okay in F1, then surely you are okay with City, Chelsea and QPR in football. They are equivalent examples of outsider money used to set up and fund maintance of the teams.

kimi had a top season, doing what he did with lotus and not at one of the 'big' teams.

put kimi in the right car and he'll win another title. my fav. driver on the grid currently

Put Kimi and Alonso in a car as good as the Red Bull and you won't see Vettel winning the title.

So basically he didn't really deserve it is the vibe I'm getting here?
