Good thing is we play Leicester 4 days after the West Ham game. Get the result early on against West Ham and rest the main players for the second half.

Play a full team for Leicester game and no more playing from the back shit. If we go for the Leicester game to get a draw, we are going to be screwed. We need to play our normal attacking game as we played on all games after restart bar the Chelsea game.

What? I dont get it. if our goal difference is both 28 and we beat hammers 3-0 then they would need to beat us by 3 to be equal no? What am I being missing
You have to remember in the last game that every +1 goal for Leicester is also a -1 for us....

To all intents and purposes, West Ham are already safe.

Villa would need to overturn 14 goal difference in 2 games as well as win both.
Don't mind the doom and gloomers. They were desperate for WH to beat Watford so WH would have nothing to play for at OT. They were then shitting their pants when WH scored a few in the first half because now all of a sudden their attack would be a threat to our defence. Now they're praying for Arsenal to take points off Villa just in case Villa don't overturn a 14 goal deficit in two games. 14 goal deficit in 180 minutes. Villa. Not peak Barcelona. Aston Villa.

I swear some people on here scrape the barrel for absolute worst case scenarios no matter how ridiculous and unrealistic those scenarios sound. If we were 4 points clear with a game to go they'd find a way to deduct us a point meaning the last game would be a must win in their eyes.

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
I think I’d be worried at having to play Liverpool and Wolves.

Not from yourself, but I see a lot of arrogance around Chelsea which is slightly misplaced when set against your post lockdown performances against West Ham, Palace and Sheff Utd.

I honestly don’t know how it’s going to pan out, such is the unpredictability of this segment of the league.
I think Chelsea will probably lose to Liverpool and Wolves.

There's no way you don't beat this defenceless Leicester side. Everything Spurs did to them, you do better.

Simply put I`d much rather face West Ham at home who are already safe and a poor Leicester team afterwards than LFC who are unbeaten in Anfield for 3 years, looking to bounce back from a defeat and looking to mark the day they lift the trophy with a good win and a Wolves team gunning for the EL.
I think both Utd and Chelsea will make top 4 but I wouldn`t exactly be 100% confident of making top 4 if I was a Chelsea fan.

Reckon you pick all 3 points vs Wolves IMO
Hard to predict vs Liverpool but you wont win draw at best
For the record I think if we beat West Ham we will draw vs Leicester and we`ll both get top 4

There's a broader side of results that see Chelsea miss out though:
  • A draw or loss for Chelsea away at Liverpool
  • A draw or loss for Chelsea at home to Wolves
  • A win for United at home to West Ham
  • A win for Leicester at home to United
On top of that:
  • Only one point for Chelsea away at Liverpool and at home to Wolves
  • A win or draw for United at home to West Ham
  • A draw between Leicester and United
Or finally:
  • A loss for Chelsea away at Liverpool
  • A loss for Chelsea at home to Wolves
  • A win or draw for United at home to West Ham
  • A win or draw for Leicester at home to United
Chelsea are favourites to finish in top 4, but they are more likely to miss out on top 4 by an order of magnitude than Leicester were in January, so it is no means guaranteed you will get there.
It would be real funny if Chelsea screwed up and miss the Top 4. I don't want them cnuts in CL next season. Lucky bastards tried to injure our players and the manager played mindgames and changed the mind of refree by bringing in VAR topic early on.

Just to put this into perspective: Villa won a single Premier League game by more than two goals (Norwich away, 5-1). Now they'd have to do it twice and other results would still have to go their way.

I tend to agree. Likely scenario is that Chelsea won’t need to put another point on the board because United should handle Leicester. But again, if I were you, I wouldn’t be totally confident in United getting the job done.

As ever, the race for 3rd / 4th is a tallest dwarf competition, such are the deficiencies of the sides involved.

I will blow a gasket if any United players dare to celebrate should we make it into the CL.

I can't see you losing both. I think you'll lose to Liverpool and beat Wolves.

There is a lot of arrogance back in Chelsea fans (on twitter I mean) following yesterdays win. But I don't think you were that great. You fully deserved the win, but I expect you'll need to play much better than that to win either of your last 2.

It won't feel like it, but performance wise, yes. This and Mourinho's first season have been our best performance wise. Mourinho's second season was ludicrous case of stealing games without deserving to, and last season was a shit sandwich with a nice run in the middle. Ole has definitely improved this side.

You're forgetting to factor in that in a head-to-head game, if Leicester score this is not only +1 to their goal difference, but also -1 to United's.

With Arsenal winning the FA Cup semi final, 7th placed side is not guaranteed EL. So, what it means is that Wolves will have to win their remaining fixtures if they are to finish above Spurs. So, Wolves can be very tricky and motivated opponents in their last game.

It's strange that 2 points guarantees us top 4, but 3 points doesn't.

I'll probably get a smart arse come back with "yeah thats cause one is against Leicester" - but i find it interesting so SHUT THE HELL UP!

Honestly. I think Chelsea will finish in the top four even if they only get one point from the Liverpool & Wolves fixtures.

Not necessarily that they can relax or be arrogant, but despite having those fixtures I'd be relatively confident if I were a Chelsea fan. Leicester look garbage and won't beat United.

If we finish 5th and dont win EL , im Ole out.

Its probably the wrong decision because I think he has done an excellent job, but bottling such a good chance to get CL 2 years in a row is too Pochettino-esque for my taste.

We will get top4. But can't help it and not to think about that Saints corner in 95th minute. If we didn't feck up there, win against WH would be enough for us. Plus maybe in FA cup we would have been playing with best 11.

Oh well, it is past now i guess

Poch got top 4 in four consecutive seasons.

I think Poch is an overrated manager, but this is a bizarre take.

Yeah, i saw the irony now

The comparison I somewhat failed to make was that he had so much positive about him and the team, but still failed to get any trophy.

But I agree, for Pochettino getting top 4 so consistently with Spurs is a good achievement, but for United it should be a minimum nomatter.

Yesterday was Pochesque, January against City at home was Pochesque, losing to Wolves in the Europa will be Pochesque.

1. Two draws required
2. One big win required
3. One defeat and one one win required.

But you just know it's not going to be simple with Utd.

Do you think Chelsea will finish outside the top 4?
I don’t think any fan should be confident of finishing top 4 at this point. Chelsea do not have an amazing chance of beating two very good sides and could feasibly lose both. It’s not like you’re playing against weakened squads.

United are playing catch up and Leicester have a lot of first team players out.

It really will be a last day affair for all which will be amazing to watch and nervy as hell!

My personal view is that I think Chelsea will make it by beating Wolves but I don’t see Chelsea getting top 4 easily.
Would you guys consider this season as an improvement if we finish at 5th
I would be very disappointed if we didn’t make top 4 given the chance we have now. That wouldn’t discount all the good work and improved play style this season but to come this close and not make it? As much as I’m a fan of Ole I would consider it a failure of the team.

Leicester certainly didn't collapse. They didn't look like overturning a multiple goal deficit once behind, but they weren't particularly bad either. A 3-0 loss flattered Spurs IMO. At Bournemouth they were horrendous second half, but against Sheff Utd and Spurs they've been fine. I certainly don't think they look done.

It's worth pointing that for all the talk of Leicester being mentally done. They are yet to concede at home since the restart, scoring five goals across their three games.
Yeah they didn't collapse, they were just comfortably beaten, and then it was a nothing second half.

But you are correct, we certainly shouldn't underestimate them! Not when we could easily find that a mere 1-0, or 2-0 at worst victory for Leicester would see us screwed. It will be the classic "cup final"

I think Chelsea will comfortably get top 4.

I was quite impressed with their defensive stability yesterday, regarded rightly as their sole major weakness.
They dealt with our offensive individuals and tactics with relative ease. Granted it helped them with having alittle more preparation time but still impressive nonetheless.

A narrow 1 goal win vs Westham leaves us very vulnerable. Any defeat to Leiester would then see us out unless Chelsea implode.

Need to be aiming for a 3 goal winning margin midweek and that means even if we lose 2-1 or 3-2 at Leicester we are still fine.

How we (United) respond after the set-back of yesterday in these two remaining PL fixtures will tell me,more than anything, whether we truly have turned the corner or not.

I actually think a defeat like this will make the players angry and focused , going full out to beat WH and Leicester.

Never thought our unbeaten run would last all season, so in fact I'm glad it happened in the FA cup otherwise it could easily have ended wednesday.
