He's utter shite. His technique is up there with Lukaku.
Much worse technically than Lukaku who is also a better player by quite a distance.

Why would PSG be interested do you think? There's literally no indication of that and I haven't even really heard that they are on the lookout for a new keeper.
Because he's arguably better than Navas, younger than him and more marketable than him. This is PSG, don't forget. They love a superstar.

They won't be and anyone who thinks that way is out of their mind.

True
I don’t know why Lukaku is always used as a barometer for shite players. It’s ridiculous. Tammy is a WBA, Burnley level player and I’m being generous

Lukaku is far better and he wasn't good enough, exactly.

Well no, my comment was purely about technique and was totally off the cuff. Abraham is dog shite whereas Lukaku can play for a relatively top club in a system which accommodates him.

Arguably being the key word here. It's not clear cut and I don't see PSG spending big bucks either in transfer fee or wages on player who is not an obvious cut above. Granted he is younger but seemingly waning for a while.
As for the superstar stuff, I think calling De Gea a superstar is excessive. Especially with his reputation taking a hit the last few years for club and Country.

PSG haven't spent big money for a couple of years now and I think their resources will be put into trying to make sure Mbappe and Neymar isgn new deals.

Is this going to be the summer of us getting linked to Varane just because Real Madrid can't afford to pay him what he wants? You just know that United won't denounce the links like they did with Ramos, especially since Woodward wanted to bring him in a few years ago.

Don't expect any activity from United here. Everything's indicating them going after a younger centre back (Milenkovic, Badiashile, Pau Torres, Koundé?).

I disagree. PSG are funded by oil money. Sure, they may cut back a bit, but they will have no problem affording De Gea's wages, especially if a swap deal is on the table. I also think it's a good argument for De Gea being better than Navas but not the defining argument for their desire for him. De Gea may not be a superstar as we think of a Neymar etc., but for goalkeepers, he's certainly one of the most well-known, playing for the one of the biggest clubs in the world. And then you might say, PSG is a big club. Sure, but then I would say, United are simply another level. Not to mention, De Gea's been no.1 for a very popular and successful (though before his time) footballing country in Spain, regardless of form. And then on top of that, De Gea is likely to receive more ads while in Paris, modelling jobs, etc. Not saying Navas is ugly, but looks are (whether we like or not) important in marketing someone. These things all add up, say, if you wanted to generate more interest in PSG from a huge market like Asia where football is hugely popular these days and celebrity marketing is very common (drinks, food, etc.).

My point is, it wouldn't be purely a footballing decision.

Unless we have more money available than I think, I really can't see us going after Koundé for the prices quoted c.60 million. We'd have little left for other areas of the pitch.

There`s no serious link to Badiashile who would cost Martial money according to the French press and he`s NOWHERE near worth that
Kounde would cost more than Varane
Milenkovic links are confirmed by Utd as agent driven rather than Utd`s interest being strong
Pau Torres is a good shout though but if given the choice we`ll 100% choose Varane Woodward wanted to pay 100m for him in 2018. He`s a big name, proven winner, marketable and with a year left on his deal he`d cost a decent fee around 50m

Regardless of whether the move is feasible or not, no French media outlet has linked de Gea to any French club let alone PSG. This includes outlets and journalists that aren't reliable.

The chances of de Gea leaving United this summer as of now are slim to none. No media outlet anywhere has linked de Gea to another club. If anything, Dean Henderson has more links to other clubs than de Gea has.

Logically, Varane makes sense. Unfortunately, there's no substance to the links at this time. I only mentioned the other CBs as they've been more strongly linked to us than Varane were and indicate that we're looking for younger centre backs. At this time, I don't expect us to go after an older centre back unless we lose one of Maguire, Lindelöf, or Bailly (I'm assuming that Jones is pretty much out of contention).

But based off the circumstances I`ve mentioned those younger CBs would hardly be cheaper in the case of Kounde, hardly worth their high fees like Badiashile or probably not deemed good enough yet like Milenkovic hence why Utd termed those links as "agent links" distancing any real interest. Pau Torres and maybe Konate(who has a horrible injury record) are the only other shouts but Varane is someone any club would make an exception for especially one who have had a long standing interest in him(based off our long term interest its logical to think Utd are monitoring the situation closely at the very least) with the chance to sign him while he`s still in his prime and available at a very affordable fee. Would be a different case if he`d cost 60m+
Our defence is also the worst in the top 8 if not the top 10 statistically I`d be gobsmacked if we opted for a "prospect" not capable of starting ahead of Lindelof/Maguire to just come in and magically improve it when there`s far better players available

Funnily enough, this is the same conjecture that the Spanish and English journalists have been using to link us to Varane. That's the point I'm trying to make; there are no recent developments from United. It's all speculation at this point.

What we know for sure is that the majority of our transfer activity will involve bringing in a new CB and striker. That tells me that we'll focus the majority of our budget into bringing in a new CB. We will be committing big money on a new CB. Who that'll be remains to be seen, but at this time, our strongest links have been with younger CBs (not just unknown entities).

Everything except all the reports on Varane, which are suggesting that we may go for Varane.

As if we'd be prepared enough to be turning our attention to transfers for the summer now

Shut this thread down until May.

I've mentioned this earlier, but all of those reports are based on conjecture and don't have any new info coming from Varane's, Madrid's, or United's camp. We'll see if there are any new developments over the next couple of months.

Of course there aren`t any prior developments because the chances of him leaving were slim but now it looks a genuine possibility hence why there`s talk of us monitoring the situation you can bet millions if its fully confirmed Varane will leave Madrid Utd will drop interest in all other CB targets and put their full focus on the World Cup winner in his prime who he`s wanted at Utd for a long time. There is no possible scenario Woodward chooses other CBs over him if he`s genuinely offered the chance to sign the Frenchman for a decent fee simply no chance. Transfer plans always change when players of a certain caliber become available

But that's what's missing from all of the reports. No one has mentioned that United are monitoring the situation. Basically, this whole thing started from Real Madrid players not wanting pay cuts.

The only mention of United doing something recently is from Luckhurst, and even he mentioned something that wasn't new ("United have prioritised signing a centre half to partner Harry Maguire in the summer transfer window and have a preference for experience").

Hes already struggling for minutes and theyre looking for another striker if the Haaland links are to be believed. I reckon a deal could be done for a reasonable fee.
We should help them fund a move for Haaland by taking Abraham off their hands? Interesting tactic

True. But sometimes these deals seem to appear out of nowhere so let's see - where there's a will, there's a way. Personally, I'd be gutted if Henderson left and would really worry about the direction of the club and its supposed values. On the other hand, I really admire that Dean isn't prepared to be a bit-part player. Love a hard-working footballer with ambition (*nod to Bruno*). Plenty of players would be happy just to collect a cheque at United.

Obviously I’d prefer Haaland or Kane but Tammy is a good all round actual proper number 9, good In the air too with a decent turn of pace. He’d be a cheaper alternative to DCL for example
I agree, hes a solid option. He appears to be a somewhat marmite player though judging by some of the responses on here.

Martial is having a terrible goal scoring season and only has 1 less goal than Tammy.
He will be playing for a Palace soon where he belongs.

£20m as opposed to the £80-100m Dortmund will want for Haaland. So a pretty irrelevant fee in terms of funding a Haaland bid.
Spending £20 million on Abraham when Haaland would be available for £60-80 million more would be a terrible piece of business.
