We are interested in Grealish, as are City. Mitten and Whitewell believe you don't go from chasing a player one summer to totally walking away from them next summer, so they think all this talk of us no longer being in for Sancho is BS.

We have previously kept an eye on DCL but don't believe him to be an elite level striker. Plus Everton wouldn't need to sell him on the cheap.
Not much really.

Sancho: They were in for him last year, can't imagine the interest is completely lost.
Grealish: Same agency as Shaw, Villa want 100M but he could move if he thinks he'll earn far more than he does at Villa. City also highly interested.
DCL: Speculation really, not as good as Haaland (obviously) but the kind of striker Solskjær is looking for. Great scorer of goals vs scorer of great goals thing but Everton are swimming in cash and with Ancelotti at hand, they have ambitions and don't need to sell.
Thank you. Appreciate it.

I saw a tweet that Andy Mitten said we would only sign one player. But I understand that’s probably out of context. Do you remember anything like that?

Isn't he another #10 type?
According to wikipedia, he can play in the attacking position, as a box-to-box midfielder or even as a CDM.

I've heard good things about him but I can't say I've seen enough of him to make an opinion myself. Instead, here are some other random facts:
- His dad played for Atalanta
- His vain mum regularly posts duck-lipped selfies on Instagram for which Nicolo calls her out
- His mum cried when meeting Totti which he also disapproved of
- In short, he is embarrassed by his mum
- Oh, and he's an excellent prospect on Football Manager

  • Transfer budget not reliant on Zaha being sold
  • Multiple players becoming free agents will mean a bit of a squad overhaul.
    • Cahill, Sakho, van Aanholt, Townsend, and Benteke are some of the players.
  • Dyche, Howe, and Lampard are all linked to the Palace managerial seat.

Context: Torreira's mother recently passed away due to COVID.

Torreira to ESPN:
When my mother died, I told my agent that I wanted to join Boca, I no longer want to play in Europe. Nobody gifted me anything, I'm happy with what I have, money makes you happy but not for long. I want to be close to my family, they need me. I'm dying to play for Boca, I will push to go there. My father while crying told me it was the right time. I always liked Boca, I don't know the Bombinera (sic), but it's something I want and I hope it happens.

Mitten thinks we'll only make one marquee signing this summer. The rest will depend on how many players we are able to sell and for how much.

How? They’re up to their eyeballs in debt aren’t they? Hopefully they sign him through some dodgy means and end up bankrupt.
I reckon hes lining up a move for the end of next season, not this. If he wants a move to one of the big spanish clubs then this summer isnt realistic as theyve no money right now.

Why would it be ‘next year’ for players available on a free this summer?

Or does it mean looking at players with 1 year left on their deals by the summer who can be targeted at a reduce rate the way we did with Telles?

e.g. Trippier, Milenkovic, Zakaria, Camavinga etc.

Transfer fee structure will be as important as the price. If we can agree deals where payments are spread out over 4-5 years, we could feasibly bring in two marquee signings. It’s not as simple as have 100m to spend and add up what they cost. That’s what’s stupid about these articles.

What data I don’t have available is (a) what obligations do we still have from previous summers and (b) how desperate selling clubs are to get the fees up front (%age of total wise) due to COVID impact. Those are the key impacts on who we can bring in, not the transfer ”kitty”.

Total spend could be as little as 60-75M if it’s all up front, or as much as 150M if it is favourably structured over 4-5 years. Just as an example. The journos don’t know, that’s why these articles are a bit pointless.

Right now it’s all about cash flow impact. If we sell Lingard for 15m all up front and buy Sancho for 80m over four years. It’s only negative 5m cash flow impact this financial year. Again these are just speculative examples. Don’t quote the figures as realistic.

Sergio Ramos, Donnaruma, Alaba, Depay...
I think Depay would be a a good option for us tbh, something a bit different and his game has definitely matured a lot more since he was last here.

I think he'd be open to coming back too, always admitted it was down to his own attitude and that he regrets not making more of his opportunity when here.

He's a more flexible #10. He can play off of the wide areas as he's a good dribbler, can operate the ball in tight spaces, and make good inside runs. However, he's been at his best through the middle where he can run into space and attack the back line with speed, especially on the counter. Out wide, he's a bit easier to close down as he typically cuts inside.
We do need another wide option and I guess he'd also cover Bruno if Lingard and Van de Beek go.

Think he’s a hybrid type personally. Reminds me of Gerrard or Kevin. Great engine and size. Think he’d be best as an 8 in a 3 in the PL personally.
In that case I imagine he'd be seen as the Pogba replacement.

Hes a crock with off field issues, has years left on his deal and they’re actively trying to sell him. So yeah he can replace Pogba, he’d fit right into the role, hell he might even take Jones role if we can move him out... ’If‘ he can get his head right and recover from his 2 ligament ops, then he’s potentially a great player. But on the other hand.....
