If this guy thinks Fox has gone too far then wow
Full email is better

On March 1st, I informed Fox that I would not renew my contract. The purpose of this message to all of you is twofold:

First, I must thank each of you for the cooperation and support you’ve shown me over the years. Those working off-camera, the bookers and producers, don’t often get the recognition you deserve, but I want you to know that I have always appreciated the challenges you face and the skill with which you master them.

Second, I feel compelled to explain why I have to leave. Four decades ago, I took an oath as a newly commissioned officer. I swore to “support and defend the Constitution,” and that oath did not expire when I took off my uniform. Today, I feel that Fox News is assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law, while fostering corrosive and unjustified paranoia among viewers. Over my decade with Fox, I long was proud of the association. Now I am ashamed.

In my view, Fox has degenerated from providing a legitimate and much-needed outlet for conservative voices to a mere propaganda machine for a destructive and ethically ruinous administration. When prime-time hosts–who have never served our country in any capacity–dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the FBI, the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller–all the while scaremongering with lurid warnings of “deep-state” machinations– I cannot be part of the same organization, even at a remove. To me, Fox News is now wittingly harming our system of government for profit.

As a Russia analyst for many years, it also has appalled me that hosts who made their reputations as super-patriots and who, justifiably, savaged President Obama for his duplicitous folly with Putin, now advance Putin’s agenda by making light of Russian penetration of our elections and the Trump campaign. Despite increasingly pathetic denials, it turns out that the “nothing-burger” has been covered with Russian dressing all along. And by the way: As an intelligence professional, I can tell you that the Steele dossier rings true–that’s how the Russians do things.. The result is that we have an American president who is terrified of his counterpart in Moscow.

I do not apply the above criticisms in full to Fox Business, where numerous hosts retain a respect for facts and maintain a measure of integrity (nor is every host at Fox News a propaganda mouthpiece–some have shown courage). I have enjoyed and valued my relationship with Fox Business, and I will miss a number of hosts and staff members. You’re the grown-ups.

Also, I deeply respect the hard-news reporters at Fox, who continue to do their best as talented professionals in a poisoned environment. These are some of the best men and women in the business..

So, to all of you: Thanks, and, as our president’s favorite world leader would say, “Das vidanya.”

I can't remember why I joined this war.

This Cambridge Analogical story could be the smoking gun we are looking for to tie this all together and bridge the Trump campaign to the Russian trolls . Kushner at the very least will have a lot to answer for as he was in charge of all of this
The thing this whole story about Cambridge Analytica tells me is that if they could use Facebook to make these profiles I'm certain Russian counter intelligence was able to do the same. This might have been a war on many fronts and Facebook allowed it all to happen with their lackluster attitude to protecting the privacy of their users.

Still the question remains if they were really involved with Turmps team or did just support the candidate they knew would cause the most unrest in the US society.

Load of bullshit from him.

There's a BBC video of an interview with the lady who ran the PR side of the Trump Campaign who explained that Facebook sent their own guys down to the offices to work with Cambridge Analytica and Trump Campaign analysts to extract everything they could from the datasets they had harvested from Facebook.

When asked why Facebook would do that she said "we were ploughing 10's of millions there way making 10's of thousands of adverts every day so they were doing everything they could to help us, that included sending their own guys in to help us"

The idea that Facebook is somehow a victim in this is farcical.

The state of this, he hated it when it wasn’t his idea and then loved it and came up with the expression when he heard the reaction.

“A couple of you are a little marginal about this, but I came up with this expression, it’s called ‘drain the swamp,’ right, drain the swamp. And I hated it, I hated it. And it was a speech during the campaign, and it was a term that was actually given to me, usually like to think them up myself, but this was given to me — which bothered me too. I never like that.

But they had this expression ‘drain the swamp.’ And I hated it, I thought it was so hokey. I said, ‘that is the hokiest, give me a break, I am embarrassed to say it.’ And I was in Florida where 25,000 people were going wild, and I said, ‘and we will drain the swamp’ — the place went crazy. I couldn’t believe it. And then the next speech I said it again and they went even crazier. ‘We will drain the swamp… we will drain the swamp,’ and every time I said it I got the biggest applause. And after four or give times I said, boy what a great expression, I love saying it, it’s amazing.”

It really does feel like we’re all just living in some insane film plot at the minute. The entire web is so huge and yet so intricate.

When the eventual screen play comes out, only 3 or 4 seasons of 12+ episodes is going to suffice.

There are some who believe this was leaked by the WH so Trump will have clear "cause" to fire Sessions for the same misconduct that Sessions alleged against McCabe. Trump appoints new AG to shut down the Mueller investigation.

Not sure if that would work as anything Trump does to remove Sessions, however legitimate, will immediately be seen as an attempt to obstruct justice by having the next unrecused AG fire Mueller. I still think Trump will try at some point, but process is at the moment sufficiently advanced to where any attempt to stop Mueller will be broadly viewed as Trump shutting down an investigation that is getting too close to the truth (obstruction of justice).

I hope you're right but considering how silent the majority of Republican leaders were when Trump attacked Mueller over the weekend, I have next to zero faith that they will do anything to stop Trump shutting down the Mueller investigation. I'm just too jaded at this point.

Republicans were actually fairly vocal - Flake, Rubio, Graham, Corker, McCain, even McConnell and Ryan said Mueller should continue his job. Now that they are on record, they wont be able to back out if something happens.

Besides, Trump's getting blocked in as he has fewer and fewer people he can nominate from (ie. his circle of loyalist/friends) -- or people he can rotate around from other departments considering the swamp folks he has 9who have been pissing taxpayers money away.)

Can anyone smell the burning of evidence? :nervous:

Could also be a police effort to evacuate the building and ensure evidence isn't undermined. Considering the police are the only ones allowed inside the building.

Something obviously questionable about publicly announcing you'd be seeking the right to go through all their data days before you actually do. Surely they've already gotten rid of the worst of it

Dowd's gone

We're pretty close to the big event now, I'd imagine. Everything is falling into place for Trump to make his play.

What's likely behind this? Has he had enough or has he been pushed?
He obviously disagrees with the direction Trump is taking the legal strategy in, with the hiring of Di Geonova and his recent unhinged tweeting about Mueller.
