So all the refs were in agreement that the goal should stand, which is exactly why it wasn’t allowed to.

Clear as mud.

In another thread, the Premier League has increased revenue by a huge amount, allegedly TV or something. TV? Yeah right. We know where that money is coming from.

Thought the only big mistake today was the Diaz goal. Not sure why the outrage about all the rest?
Well the first yellow on Jota was pretty ridiculous…and the match overall was officiated poorly. Just used to it at this point, it’s been a farce for a while now and no accountability.

They whole thing is a joke.

3 decisions wrong in the Liverpool game. Simon Hooper is just an awful referee. VAR deliberately showed the worst screenshot of the Jones tackle to make sure he saw red.

At least 1 of Villa's goals shouldn't have stood.

Questionable decisions in the Utd game.

Luton scored from a freekick that wasn't a freekick.

City got a free kick and scored from it, Wolves player was carded. Exact same situation at the other end of the pitch just before, no freekick and no yellow card.

That non handball penalty decision in our game was nearly as bad but it’s being ignored.
They clearly didn’t even bother checking either, it was waved on in seconds.
Ball had traveled a long distance and the defender used his outstretched hand to deflect the ball out of Rashfords path which would have put him in on goal.

No, the linesman called it offside so the ref's initial decision was that the goal shouldn't stand.

Why he’s even flagging in the first place needs looking at. What happened to leaving your flag down on the tight calls so var can do its job?

Exactly, thank you. He wouldn't have flagged a similar situation if Son scored that. Something's not quite right. Then Darren 'makes a mistake' straight after, or something. Yeah, all above board.

That's what he did. He thought it was offside but left his flag down so play could continue, in case he was wrong. But once the goal is scored he then still has to signal if he thinks it's offside, which he did. You could possibly criticise him for thinking it was offside at all given it wasn't that close, but he did the flag part right.

And tbf to the linesman, it's not his fault the VAR made an absolute hoor of things.

Fecking arseholes. All of them agreed it was a goal and still couldn't communicate that. Fecking firing offence.

And why is that cnuting linesman getting off Scott free? Why raise the flag after playing on in such a tight call? Let VAR do it's job. Cnuting cheats the lot of them. Arab money at play.

We have history with both the linesman and Darren at VAR from before (just saw some stats in other tweets). These cnuts are going to games with specific Arab orders. Cnuts.
Arab money, and Arab orders? You're just lashing out, there is no way you think that is true.

Handballs by Arsenal players aren't penalties this season either.
Without question there is a destinct bias by refs and VAR favouring London clubs it is blatantly ovious this season. God forbid I am supporting the scousers but the ref certainly had a cockeral stamped on his forhead in their game today.

 The amount of times I’ve read this. It’s just a video replay, the lines and freezing is no where near accurate enough.
You didnt even need any tech or lines for the Pool goal today and still the VAR guy said “check complete”

Exactly. Either they replay this Spurs game (can of worms I know) or they allow Klopp 2 minutes of screen time calling each ref involved in the game cnuts, bastards, mother feckers, clear Arab money grabbing cheats, etc.

But, hey we got an apology.
They can shove that apology where the sun don’t shine. These types of mistakes are insane. On-field errors can be forgiven to a certain degree.

But these morons have all the tools at their disposal and still make this call…that just means they are beyond incompetent or simply some shady stuff goes on with match fixing or whatever else. No other logical explanation.

The first red card I agree with. The first yellow for Jota was…sketchy at best and his second foul was his own stupid fault.

But that goal being disallowed…there should be actual consequences to this degree of fecking up instead of a week or two holiday they usually get. Those bums should be fired.

Liverpool are going to get even more help from the refs than usual now.
They will get every single marginal decision from now until the end of the season. Honestly this is probably the best thing that could have happened for them.

How have they not managed to come up with extremely clear communication instead of this vague 'check complete' which can mean either on or off?

It couldn't happen to a better team but it's awful officiating.

am I missing something, but that was a red card for Jones, don't know why there's this "harsh" narrative sounding it.

As for the offside goal, total disaster from VAR

A team of highly trained and well paid officials doing this when everyone watching on the tele could see it was perfectly onside is the best argument why var is terrible. I mean, what’s the point of it when this still happens.

Liverpool and their fans will dine out on this for at least 5-30 years.

Also EtH needs to start making noise about the shit after shit decision we’re getting from VAR. I still can’t believe the handball incident today wasn’t even reviewed.

This happening to Liverpool for once is hilarious but the hilarity will wear off very quickly as they’ll now benefit from every decision from this point on. The officials fecked up big time, not because they made the wrong call but rather who the wrong call ended up costing.

That Liverpool discussion is incomprehensible. It has to be the death of var as we see it currently. Get a specialist team in who aren’t utterly incompetent and make this work properly.

The assistant is meant to flag if he thinks it’s offside once the goal has been scored - presumably so VAR do a really thorough check. The main error doesn’t lie with him.

Totally the wrong call but of course it is Liverpool who get an apology.

We have had:

- The Spurs handball
- The Garnacho goal wrong angle
- Hojlund goal v Brighton only 1 angle
- Evans goal
- Palace handball and studs up challenges today

And no apology.

And let's not forget the absolute nonsense week of media scrutiny about the Onana incident which ignored Wolves keeper doing the same thing previously, and us not getting a similar call earlier in the game.

It actually annoys me that ETH and the club aren't screaming from the rooftops about this because fecking Klopp is, and would be.

Literally, I wonder why there isn't more outrage at the handball not given against Utd. The player literally looks behind him at the ball as it approaches the penalty area and blatantly outstretched his arm to block the ball while making it look accidental.

The fact that someone has the ability to look at that on a screen multiple times and not even recommend a review is mind-boggling.

Not to mention todays handball travelled 30 yards and denied a goal scoring opportunity.

Suppose now it's okay to use your hand so long as your facing the other way.

I disagreed with the referee's decision immediately when it was called offside. Joke of a refereeing, but the fact this is happening to Liverpool, just made me laugh my head off.

Liverpool get more favourable VAR decisions than any club in the league and yet the moment they get one bad one they’re up in arms. They ought to be grateful, they’ll be getting soft decisions for the rest of the season off the back of this. God help the next team they face.

"check complete, offside" or "check complete, onside". How hard would that be?

Even after they fecked that up, when he saw that the goal wasn't given and Spurs were getting ready to take their free kick, why wasn't the guy screaming in the refs ear that it was a goal?

Quite spectacular incompetence.

Watch both red cards against Liverpool get rescinded on the review of the review. VAR in general sucks. Why didn't we get a penalty in our favor when the ball hit a player in the hand, when they awarded one against us via VAR when a player nodded a ball into the turf and it hit Eriksen's hand? Both players knew nothing about the ball before it hit their hands. The offside call for Liverpool's goal, what the hell was that? I'm glad it happened, but it's a bullshit call. I think eventually they're going to have to limit VAR to red card fouls, like they did today, because offside and handballs and all that shit is just beyond them.

Just seen MOTD. That non offside must be the icing on the shitcake that is the refereeing in this country. Absolutely shocking. To be honest I've had doubts about a few offsides we've seen. We just can't trust anything they do.

As I said, they're supposed to use the first frame available to them in which the ball has been clearly played. So I don't know why you're saying the bold as if you didn't expect to see the ball having been played in the frame they used. There is indeed room for difference between that frame and the hypothetical perfect frame that would exist if the camera framerate was better, which is why they have the MOE Garnacho fell outside. You can feel free to complain that the MOE doesn't sufficiently compensate for the gap in frames if you want, but it is what it is. Until the tech improves, they can only work with the frames and MOE at their disposal, which they did.

And they didn't use the wrong part of the body. The defender's shoulder was further forward than his head because his upper body was turned. Again, that's something they're able to easily determine with the scope lines they use, and in this case I thought it was pretty clear just from looking at the image. Though given at least one poster tried to tell me it was physically impossible to have your shoulder further forward than your head, I'm not surprised there's an unwillingness to accept that.

There was no conspiracy or error in that offside call. You don't have to like it, you might think there is room for error in the system, but it was completely consistent with how offsides are supposed to be applied. In fact we've had much tighter calls than that go against us in the past.
Justify it in which ever way helps you sleep at night but the wrong decision was made due to the incorrect use of technology and human error. No different to Liverpool, save for the apology.

-Hojlund penalty v Arsenal
-Saka on Bruno studs into a planted ankle worse than Jones' tackle today
-Two penalties against Wolves

My concern is now FA rescind Jones' red card when we lost Casemiro for 5 games (including game sent off in) for a much lesser challenge.

Will they go and award us retrospective points for last season? The Emirates game we would have won with Casemiro in the team springs to mind. Palace away points dropped to a free-kick taken over twelve yards further forward from the "foul" it was given for is another we missed Casemiro for.

Still no explanation why no lines were drawn. Even if they thought he was onside, why were the lines not drawn to confirm that case. Neville says they get a preview of decisions before the live audience and the lines were never drawn, and it was said check complete. How can that be without an actual check, with the lines drawn?

Something seems very strange here.

They don't have to go through the full process if it's quickly apparent that the player is obviously onside.

Tbh I start to think if we replace the VAR guys with some random fans from the stand it'd be better. Even with all the bias.
