Your first point is probably true. A double deal with Semedo being valued at 60m and Lindelof valued at something daft like 5m. That has been done before. Refduces how much Benfica have to pay but they risk it going to court.
The other point isn't possible EPL rules prohibit 3rd party ownership. So, Man Utd would be buying him outright.
I meant that he has done it with the new contract with Benfica, so that he gets a percentage from the sale from his ownership. Although I just realised that if they are selling him for a reduced fee anyway it doesn't really make sense

We should move on from this deal if Benfica want us to pay the sell-on clause. Absolutely ridiculous if true.

Agreed, the reported fee was ridiculous enough as it was.

Personally I would rather we stick with what we've got in defence, and then look again in the summer.

Great news! But I don't know anything about that site. Is Sport Witness a reliable source?
They just collect and pass on info from other media, throughout Europe. I like them though. They filter out the cheap gossip and tabloid shite.

Did we cave in on the sell on then or why would Benfica agree to sell already and not later in the window?

Is this guy potential like Bailly or a fully developed incoming? If potential, how does that affect TFM. Surely one of Jones rojo and Smalling would also be sold?

Expressen is one of the two most sold evening papers in Sweden together with Aftonbladet, therefore might not have the credibility of most morning papers, but still. According to them, the sporting director of Västerås is "hoping" they can reach a conclusion with Benfica since there now finally has been contact after being ignored for a long time. They report that they might have to settle for less than 20%, but that they won't bend over completely just because they're a small club from the nordic region.

Didn't think we really needed him, but I'd prefer him over Fonte every day of the week. Once Rojo gets his inevitable red card for a two-footed challenge, I'm guessing he'll slowly become a peripheral figure once again, our 4 CBs Bailly, Smalling, Jones and Lindelöf fighting for the two positions. If we decide to play 3 at the back in some games, Bailly-Smalling-Lindelöf sounds ridiculously strong physically!

Still hoping TFM is seen as a future DM, here's hoping he'll get his chance in the cup games coming up!

Sun saying we are switching targets to Manolas instead of Lindelof. Possibly true if Benfica are asking silly money, but more likely a negotiating strategy. But I wonder, who is better between them right now? And which has the more potential?

Yeah, that's what the picture seems to be hinting at, open suitcase, no desk, art work on the floor. Very interesting that this image comes out the same day the news broke that Benfica had agreed a deal with Lindelof's old club regarding the fee.

A shame it wasn't a gif so we could see Lindelöf's celebration scoring a header himself from a Blind corner against his mate in charge of Liverpool two seconds later.

Judging from the rest of her twitter, she'll be a full-time attention whore if he comes here. She even posted a whatsapp convo of him telling her not to post something "funny". Imagine her upturn in followers posting all their personal life!

€350k a season salary after tax is pretty low for a signing who is supposed to cost us a record for a defender.

That's about 20k a week. Highly doubt it. Even Romero is on 25-30k

Lindelof's old club has actually confirmed they've agreed the fee with Benfica, more specifically their chairman.

Confirmed: Västerås chairman B.Å.Nilsson has told O Jogo that they've an agreement with Benfica over their cut in a potential Lindelöf deal.

Västerås chairman Bengt-Åke Nilsson: "Benfica accepted our terms. We've an agreement and we doesn't have a problem with Benfica anymore."

Västerås have agreed to receive a far smaller cut than the 20% they originally were entitled to from a potential Lindelöf transfer. With Benfica & Västerås finally settling their dispute, said to be the biggest obstacle in Lindelöf's move to MUFC, things could accelerate.
Man United pressured Benfica to accept Västerås' terms, as they threatened to pull out of the Lindelöf deal if nothing happened. [O Jogo]

If the Vasteras issue was the stumbling block then this deal might be closed rapidly. Which would rule out Fonte and Manolas. Wonder though if they've missed their chance already.

This is a strange one alright. Lots of sources are saying it's practically done and yet nobody on here seems overly convinced

Then again, BBC are the most reputable ones to chime in so far, and they've said it's off. So that probably contributes

Would much rather us get Manolas, very good player and weakens a direct EL rival.

Somehow I couldn't be less excited about this potential transfer. Nothing to do with the player, who I know nothing about. It's just the exorbitant price for a 22 year old with 30 senior games under his belt, a 22 year old CB being pretty far from our biggest need right now, Benfica being the thundercunts they are, and CB's in general just don't get the muppet juices flowing, unless it's someone like prime Baresi/Nesta/Rio.

Its probably because the transfer just makes no sense. He's not better than the CBs you have. You are not in a need for a CB with five decent ones, and especially three who's done a great job. He is a great talent, but not in any way a finished, established world-class player. He may become one, but i don't think buying him now in January is the best way to make him one.

Talking about the Benfica-Västerås situation. If the transfer is still on, then Benfica has obviously slowed things down by purpose to threaten Västerås with no money at all if the transfers not happening. If it would have been like in Lindelöfs contract, Västerås would have the right to around 10 million, which would make the fairly small club the next richest in Sweden. Incredibly a lot is at stake for them. So when Benfica suddenly say that the transfer may not happened with no money to Västerås at all, they probably gets very keen on making a new deal so they could at least get some of the money they are entitled to.

its like Garay, he ends up in Russia just people to forget about him that once he was world class talent he wasn't.I have no idea if he's good or not, just doesn't seem cut above any of our current options so why to spend money on him?

How is his surname pronounced, Swedophiles?

My preference is for either Linda Lurve or maybe Linda Loaf.
It's not "Linda", but rather "Lind-e" where the "e" is pronounced like the first "e" in "extremely."

It's a bit hard to describe how "ö" is pronounced through text. Löf is pronounced kind of like you'd say "love" but with an "f" instead. I.e.: "lofe" (it's NOT pronounced like "loaf).

I suppose the closest I can describe it is: Lind-e-lovf

You'd really need to know how to pronounce "ö" to say it properly though!
