Given that we're part funding his wages, it would be perverse if he scores against us.

Anyway, all the best Wayne, hope you manage to bag a few goals against the other top teams.
Recent reports stating that's not true

We are? Why? Ridicilous.

Anyway, when can we expect official announcement from Everton, and us as well.

I might not have liked him that much as a personality, but I just loved having him playing for us at United. Total hard working team player, played with his guts, regularly scored in the 'big games' and had an aggressive drive to win, which is getting more rare these days with the musical chairs of players moving clubs so much. Gave all his top years to us and scored some amazing, important, exciting goals - enough of them to make him the top scorer at United. Wish I could shake his hand, give him a hug and wish him the best of luck. He deserves it.
Rest assured, the club that unites most of us here will realise your desire with a golden handshake. The club ambassador thing is as well still on the cards, right?

I dont get it either.
It's a relatively cheap, relatively low risk move to bring in someone with an incredible amount of experience, ambition and, ultimately, talent. He's someone that can easily inspire the young kids coming through even if his performances aren't inspirational. You need only look at the number of new players that comment on Rooney's willingness to offer support and advice to see that, and these are elite players. Imagine what it could do for someone like Davies to play alongside a player that scored this goal for his boyhood club when he was 5 years old.

The possibilities of him having an Indian summer are slim but possible - most people, yourself included, wrote off Giggs a number of times only for him to play an essential role in another title win. If he doesn't have an Indian summer then he'll still be a significantly better player than many of his team-mates. If he falls apart then he'll retire early with relatively little damage done to Everton. It's not like he's thrown his toys out of the pram as he's been phased out of the United team by a 35-year old Ibrahimovic. He's been remarkably professional.

We are? Why? Ridicilous.

Why do you care? You already know it's happening. The practical implications of when it happens are non-existent to you - he won't be on the pitch for over a month so who he plays for makes absolutely no difference to any aspect of your life. Why is it something worth spending your time thinking about?

All gone quite eerily quiet. Rooney left Everton at 6pm; would've expected an announcement by now?

I really feel for the guys conducting the medicals. They must be shocked at the fitness results and will continue trying until it looks ok.

It's a gamble which sense depends by large on its costs. If Everton, on their part, are going to pay him 200k wages for the next 2 years it will most probably be a very bad piece of business. I'm not sure that even the greatest advice coming from a 32 year old player, who performs really badly in games as well as in trainings would reach the audience and Rooney doesn't seem to be a fount of wisdom.

I had my reservation for rooney over the years, now that he is leaving i have nothing but respect and admiration for the legend. Cracking player to watch. God bless

If we pay part his wages, there would be a conflict of interest for him to play against United.
I can't imagine that it will be a regular payment thing. It'll just be factored into the transfer fees or paid as an instalment.

I think he means that we wouldn't pay him to try to/score against us.
There's no variable. It's not like we could withhold payment if he scores a goal against us.

Rooney had his faults and dips but he also has my full respect. I like the way he handled his last 2 seasons at the club and eventually his departure. Shows a lot of regard for United. I wish him nothing but success at Everton.

Any other behavior wouldn't have been good for his image. Deep down, he must be angry tbh.

Wondering why this transfer hasn't completed.
Pretty likely some of the terms in Lukaku's deal are influenced by Rooney going the other way. We're waiting until that's all confirmed before we finalise Rooney's departure.

Think we are not going to fully release Rooney to Everton incase the lukaku deal doesn't fully materialise and we end up with nothing. Once lukaku is finalised I expect Rooney to be transferred as well.

From GOT forum:

Completed tomorrow or maybe Monday with the kit launch.

Apparently he told the kids he was signing autographs for that it was being confirmed Monday. All done and dusted.

Personally I don't think the clubs wanted to announce the Rooney and Lukaku deals on the same day. Maybe they wanted to space them out a day so it wasn't so obvious they're linked.
I can't see the logic there. Are you saying people will forget about the other transfer and fail to connect the two events if they delay it by a day?

I don't see why it's in anyone interest to portray it as seperate deals unless there is some form of accountancy wizardry going on regarding the fees.

As it's obviously a part exchange in spirit, I've got to say I'm pleased to have finally witnessed one. I've seen them discussed as option for years and years but they never materialise.

So he's going to join the Lannisters?

What's with all the smoking jokes? I knew he used to smoke some time ago, surely he hasn't done it recently though?

I feel sorry for some of the Everton fans out there that'll think he'll make an impact. They are in for some shock.

Surely he's not going to be their replacement for Lukaku. It would be a huge step backward after making some impressive signings elsewhere.

13 years. As I said above I was at his debut. What a night that was. I left buzzing about the new player we had signed. The next 10 years were amazing then like flicking a switch bang he lost it.
Yeah tbh I've noticed him in Everton after he scored that famous goal against Arsenal, thinking that it would have been wonderful if he signed for United, and he actually signed, what a wonderful feeling back then

Well hey, I'm just guessing. Chances are I'm wrong of course. But it could have been something they agreed on. So the announcements don't overshadow each other maybe.

I can't imagine Ed was too pleased yesterday that his marquee £75m signing was overshadowed in the news by Rooney returning to Everton for a medical.

Angry at who , himself ?. He alone is the reason he is finished at 31/32 . At Everton he wont start regularly and will end up going to China or US next year .

I really hope he is successful at Everton. His record at United speaks for itself.

If he would have looked after himself properly he'd probably still be an important player here and have a couple of years left at the top level.

As it stands it seems unlikely that he'll even be good enough for Everton. Still, hope it goes well for him.
