....and Solskjaer has won it!
Shadow Policing Minister Sarah Jones outraged by PMs press briefing and guidance not being followed.

However, when moving on to schools bringing back year groups from 1st June, she has just said that her child has already been at school because her partner is a health worker. She is working from home it seems. Didn't the guidelines say, when lockdown first started, that front line workers' children should be at school if there are no alternative care options? Work from home if you can was the advice.

Ha, that too. Believe me, I do not intend for my assessment to be taken as some sort of sympathetic reading of Johnson. It's the fact he's in the firing line for someone else's actions, and he resents it. That's how I viewed it anyway. He comes from a position and background where he cannot fathom why he should be accountable to the common person for his own actions, so being in this position for someone else must be particularly grating.
Yeah, I think that’s a fair take. Thing is, Cummings doesn’t have a leg to stand on. And the fact Johnson has backed him so brazenly just goes to show how in his thrall the upper echelons of the party are.

I suspect he can't be sacked because he knows too much about the Vote Leave campaign and its ties to foreign countries, particularly one where he used to live.

The press were woefully unprepared for this briefing. Fairly crap questions, not concise enough.

Peston is a fecking shambles.
Peston looked and spoke like he was hungover from a massive Saturday night bender involving liquors and powders!

Good thing Brexit took the UK out of the hands of unelected bureaucrats.

The 'natural Party of government':

5 Prime Ministers in 6 years:

2015 - David Cameron
2016 - Theresa May
2019 - Boris Johnson
2020 - Dominic Cummings
2021 - Moyes

Sir Keir calling for an inquiry

Hopefully he grow a pair in the 3-4 years that'll take to publish its findings.
Kier Starmer should seriously retire his status as ‘Sir’. It’s absurd for a serving Labour leader to insist on being called ‘Sir’! Just sounds so wrong.

Cummings is the sole reason for a BrExit led Tory Government. Without Cummings the whole thing would never have happened and the entire movement falls apart without him.

He asks not to be called Sir so dobba thinks it’s a slight on him to be referred to as such.
Got it! It’s a very effective slight!!

Point remains, Keir should retire the honour, or at least ask for it to be suspended. As it can always easily be used to manipulate people against him.

Watching this press conference and I can’t believe what Boris is saying. It’s surreal. You actually voted this man PM?!?!
Well we have Trump in charge of the most powerful country in the world, is it really that surprising that people tend to vote for absolute feckwits? :wenger:

It's almost as easy to return a knighthood as it is to not bow in front of jug ears for it in the first place.
It’s the highest honour a person can receive in this country so there’s no reason for him to return it. It’s recognition for his service to the public. Your republican fantasies are a minority position in this country so trying to slight him by calling him Sir is pretty useless.

Well, all I can think is that Cummings has so much dirt on the Government that if he's sacked, or pushed out, or forced to resign, he'll spill goodness knows what, which will destroy reputations.

He's already shown himself to be totally unscrupulous and not to give a flying feck, he'd probably enjoy it and look forward to huge sales of his sordid memoirs.

They managed to shut JRM up, because they thought, quite rightly, that he was damaging the image of the party, but they are incapable of controlling this absolute fecking cnut of a man. (I think that's the technical term.)

It's simultaneously the highest honour in the country and a slight. What a world.

The true relationship needs to be unearthed. I cannot believe a PM would sacrifice his availability for a mere advisor.

A slight in the eyes of a fringe minority to which you belong. The Express and Mail might deride him as a champagne socialist but they preach to a choir. I think the majority in the UK believe in aspiration so Kier shouldn’t shy away from the fact he came from a humble background to reach the top of society through hard work. It’s a narrative that will resonate with the majority, in my opinion.

A UK Government spokesman said: "An unauthorised tweet was posted on a Government channel this evening.

"The post has been removed and we are investigating the matter."
Unauthorised tweet you say... well who didn't see that coming. Account was hacked, post was made... very convenient that.

I think it’s because Boris knows he doesn’t have the intellect or muscle to govern without Cummings.

Its becoming increasingly clear that Cummings runs the country with the PM and cabinet to do his bidding. Remember that 45 MPs wrote tweets yesterday in his defence!

He's only an advisor on paper, in the real world he is the Evil Emperor and Boris is Darth Vader (a fat small donkey looking motherfecker version)

A fringe minority that includes both me and the bloke who doesn't like being called it, but not enough to turn it down or return it.

Anyway, we're distracting away from the forensic genius watching Johnson flap around in today's briefing and deciding the best route is to give him every right to say and do nothing for the years an inquiry would take.

He doesn’t like being referred to as Sir because it comes across as too deferential. Plenty of people accept the honour but don’t use the title. I don’t see a conflict in accepting the honour but not wanting to use the title in everyday life, none at all.

Whereas bowing in front of a man, deemed your superior at birth because of how magical his parents' genitals are, to accept it...

If he gave it up the Mail and Express would spend the next four years talking about how he was a commie who disrespected the Queen. It would be a pointless own goal, especially as he’s not a Republican so giving it up wouldn’t make much sense anyway.

You know why the ceremony is as it is. In fact you know the answers to all of the points you are making.

I think you are trolling for shits and giggles. I suggest you move on as you have more than made your feelings known here.
