Not directly, but Chelsea not getting a pen versus Barcelona in 09 cost United the Champions League.
In light Barca being accused of paying refs at that time, this game looks extra suspicious.

That was the first one that came to mind. What a bunch of absolute scumbags Bosvelt and the Feyernoord bench were after the tackle as well. Fergie rightly called them out on it as well. The Shaw tackle against PSV was equally bad. When I have had time to think about it - Paul Bosvelt only getting a yellow for that "tackle" on Irwin - might possible be the worst decision involving United. Most others you can sort of explain away, the ref missed it - the linesman was in a bad position etc - but that was possible the most red card in modern day and age that wasnt given
Probably the worst refereeing performance in the history of the game if we're being honest. I really didn't want Chelsea to win at the time, but by the end of the game I was seriously rooting for them because of the clear injustice of it all.In light Barca being accused of paying refs at that time, this game looks extra suspicious.
Yeah, UEFA looked after the Spanish top two on the regular to the point where Alex Ferguson got a fine for questioning their impartiality. In light Barca being accused of paying refs at that time, this game looks extra suspicious.
I hindsight given the physicality of the league and some of what you could get away with at the time. Cantona's red card vs Palace that resulted in the kung fu kick interaction was a quite harsh. Barely touched the guy and he went down like he was shot.
Cantona had a target on his back in those days' him and Di Canio.
Referee Stuart Attwell was about 5 yards away with an uninterrupted view and let play go on for a good while, before realising that McTominay needed treatment.A random one that sticks out in my mind is when McT didn't get a penalty for being full on assaulted by Kongolo when we played Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford.
Can't find a video of it but here's a pic to rejog everyones memory

Christ, I'd forgotten this. Wasn't it the '98/'99 season and right at the end. Remember thinking it might've cost us the league.Against - Denis Irwin's ludicrous second yellow card from David Elleray at Anfield in the mid 1990's, for making a genuine attempt to keep the ball in play.

It looks a worse decision to me over the time, almost a foul on NaniI remember that tackle being a lot more innocent than it actually was. The mind really does play tricks![]()
Or ended up at United, how small things can change the coursePaul Scholes goal against Porto the year they won the UCL. 3 players were clearly playing him onside. Think we would've won the UCL that year, Mourinho might not have gone to Chelski etc.
The worst thing about this was the cheating by Son. He remained on the floor feigning unconsciousness for several minutes. THFC medics ran on with oxygen believing a serious head injury had occurred. Replays showed there was either no or minimal contact, consisting of the lightest of cheek brushings. That McTominey eye-poke decision at Spurs a few of seasons ago was quite ridiculous I remember thinking. Led to a good goal by Cavani being ruled out for a ‘foul’.
Rashford's goal against City last season. Onana not getting sent off in his PL gameScholes getting a straight red for punching the air after the 100th time he was fouled without the ref whistling.
Yesterday’s offside is about the only thing I can remember going in our favor.
One game that always sticks in my mind was in 2012 at SB.Scholes getting a straight red for punching the air after the 100th time he was fouled without the ref whistling.

Getting banned for PL games for a red card given in a pre-season game is up there for meRoy Carroll is probably the most egregious decision i've seen given in our favour.
The worst decision that i've seen go against us was an off-field one. Banning an in-form Rooney right before the Manchester Derby FA Cup Semi in 2011 for using "foul language" after he scored his hat trick at Upton Park. The most ridiculous decision ever and conveniently-timed to give City the upper hand in that Semi. Still irks me to this day.
Tonight has to be up there. We had 100 players offside.
I think it looks worse because there was 3 offside , Maguire is offside but it’s not as bad as the media are making it outTonight has to be up there. We had 100 players offside.
We’ve had some proper shit calls cost us in Europe over the years. Not hard to see us being on 5+ CL titles if a few of those weren’t given.Paul Scholes given offside against Porto when he scored a perfectly legit goal.
And this is what annoys me. If we’d lost 1-0 to that exact same goal, the headlines would be about little old Leicester making United looks like twats at home - there’d be no mention about it even being ‘contentious’. Yet the other way round, and it’s all the media will talk about this week, and we’ll probably pay for it with more shit decisions against us for the next year.No denying the offside, but the headline on skysports.com is a disgrace. So definitive. Any other clubs and it would be described as "contentious". The bias against United is insane.
The worst I can remember is the European Cup semi-final against AC Milan in 1969. We were 0-2 down after some dodgy decisions in the San Siro. United, playing in white at home, tore into the Italians. Their goalie, Cudicini, was bombarded with shots. Best slipped Bobby in on the right and he hammered in a goal. 1-2 on aggregate. Then Denis Law put the ball over the line and turned away, arm raised, but a Milan defender - Hamrin if memory serves, hooked the ball out from the goal and the French ref waved play on. I saw the ball cross the line. Law saw it cross and so did the rest of the Stretford End. The ref must have seen it. Milan held out to meet Ajax in the final. We were robbed by a bent decision. Law wrote later that we would have probably beaten Ajax, who were on their way up but not yet a powerhouse, in the final. Milan beat them 4-1.We’ve had some proper shit calls cost us in Europe over the years. Not hard to see us being on 5+ CL titles if a few of those weren’t given.
Jesus, never heard of that. In the modern era we’d probably have two more CL titles then with goal line tech and VAR ruling Scholes onside against Porto. Can’t think of any ties we’d have lost off the top of my head, but then that’s usually the way. I reckon Nani against Madrid plays out the same way nowadays. The worst I can remember is the European Cup semi-final against AC Milan in 1969. It made it worse too that the exact same thing happened several times the following few years and they were all yellow cards. Every time I saw it, it made me rage again at that red card. Fergie had played a blinder first three halfs of that tie and it was his last chance. It’s probably not the worst but Nani’s red card v Madrid for me. I was in the stretford end that night and I think it was one of the best atmospheres I’ve been to and I was confident we could do it.
I’m still not over it 12 years later
