For the umpteenth time RR has said we need to show more physicality. It's just a nice way of saying our players need to stop being lazy arses and start putting in a shift.
Not good reading but is this why we lost? We dominated the game with 67% possession but as usual, we struggle to break teams down with a low block. As De Gea said, "we don't score, we don't even create proper chances to score". You could argue that we don't do enough running off the ball when in possession, which would obviously up our running stats, but I believe it's because we lack quality and the structural play to create chances against organised teams. De Gea went onto say "we're not good enough, that's for sure".I am so angry.

Without enough movement it is easy to stay organised. Against lazy attackers every defense looks organised. Not good reading but is this why we lost? Difficult to make top 4 eh Dave? You must be joking. He's clearly not happy but his anger is on par with Mata's hugs. Toothless.
De Gea says it clearly they had more desire than us. Fitness and mentality are linked in high level sports.
10 km is shocking though especially considering they had a midweek game.
I dont think our players are lazy off the ball - not in possession anyway. Rashford is constantly running in behind but no one finds him. To me, it's more of a structural problem that has been an issue for years now.Without enough movement it is easy to stay organised. Against lazy attackers every defense looks organised.
I would pay a lot of money to hear his sincere opinion on this lot of players. For the umpteenth time RR has said we need to show more physicality. It's just a nice way of saying our players need to stop being lazy arses and start putting in a shift.
Rashford makes one type of run which usually requires a top class pass to find him. Bit like the Bruno one today. We all know the run.I dont think our players are lazy off the ball - not in possession anyway. Rashford is constantly running in behind but no one finds him. To me, it's more of a structural problem that has been an issue for years now.
I think they are but it's especially bad when they are defending. Hard to rely on anything but the eye test to prove it though.I dont think our players are lazy off the ball - not in possession anyway. Rashford is constantly running in behind but no one finds him. Are you a City fan? Just asking as if this is an outside point of view it’s good to hear. Good post. Agree 100% of what you said.Gonna be honest. I've never seen a group of players as unwilling to work on a pitch as this United side. No energy on the ball, no energy off the ball. Players don't make runs they just stand around waiting for someone to do some magic or for Fred to do their defending for them. Its genuinely disgraceful and for a long time was enabled by many in the media sticking up for them.
Gary Neville: Rashford can't press, he's not that type of player being an example. Shit like that has convinced them they don't have to do the ugly stuff.
He has two legs, he's young and he's fit, of course he can press Gary, he's just fecking lazy.
The amount of times one of your players will have the ball on the wing and the others will just stand there, not underlapping or overlapping, not busting a nut to receive the ball is disgusting. Whoever comes in, is gonna have to fire out a lot of your squad. Rashford, Ronaldo, Pogba (literally the opposite for France) are talented but super lazy, all need to leave.
Matic, Mata and Cavani are practically finished from age. Maguire, Shaw, AWB, Lindelof, Bailly, Lingard, Telles, Jones, McTominay and Dalot aren't good enough for Man United.
There's at least 16 players in your squad that shouldn't be there. Probably would have been easier to name the players who should stay. DDG, Telles, Elanga, Sancho, Varane and Fernandes (if he starts trying to play no.10 and stops trying to play referee again.) Whoevers in charge of recruitment shouldn't just be fired but also banned from ever coming within 10 miles of Old Trafford again.
Yup, being bluntly honest but one thing I always admired about United under Sir Alex was even when they hadn't the best team, there was a never say die and never surrender attitude. I wouldn't say worse but its going to plateau for a bit unless the Glazers decide 200m a season as a budget or somethingI agree with all of this.
The rebuild required now is off the charts. Ten Hag or Poch won't even see us lift a trophy because the level of outgoings, paired with our inability to sign enough players, will mean it will get worse before it gets better. And I don't think any manager will survive what's coming. The one after that might reap the rewards of solid groundwork, if that even happens.
When I read things about Ten Hag wanting to assess the squad himself next season, I just feel sorry for him. Because we all know this unsuspecting guy that is on the rise as a manager, is about to shoot himself in the foot and ruin his reputation in the process.
Ten Hag would be the first time we've appointed a modern manager in his prime after Fergie retired. Relax. When I read things about Ten Hag wanting to assess the squad himself next season, I just feel sorry for him. Because we all know this unsuspecting guy that is on the rise as a manager, is about to shoot himself in the foot and ruin his reputation in the process.
This is so spot on and yet some of us have been saying it for 5 years or even longer but were branded 'negative'.Gonna be honest. Yeah not to be an asshole but after a certain point its become surreal instead of funny. I remember City losing 8-1 to Middlesbrough in Sven's last game before the takeover. It was the most annoyed I ever was watching City and I've seen us in league 1 with a team that barely knew how to kick a ball. No one gave a feck and they were smiling and jogging around. This is so spot on and yet some of us have been saying it for 5 years or even longer but were branded 'negative'.
Watching United for a City fan must feel like how it felt for a United fan to watch Arsenal towards the end of Wenger's reign and them getting 8-2'd.
Couldn’t agree more mate. Spot on word for word.Gonna be honest. I've never seen a group of players as unwilling to work on a pitch as this United side. No energy on the ball, no energy off the ball. Did Gary really say this? Why on earth would he say Rashford is not that kind of player?Gary Neville: Rashford can't press, he's not that type of player being an example. Shit like that has convinced them they don't have to do the ugly stuff.

Constant movement and running creates gaps in low blocks. That's how city and Lpool win.Not good reading but is this why we lost? Because Neville is a fool.Did Gary really say this? Why on earth would he say Rashford is not that kind of player?
I have no idea, I believe it was after or maybe before the derby game. I couldn't believe no one called him out on it. Salah isn't a natural presser like say Mane but he still presses. Maybe he didn't wanna knock the lad as he's struggling but I just remember thinking, if he's made press or sit out like Aguero was, he'll soon start to press.Did Gary really say this? Why on earth would he say Rashford is not that kind of player?
yes because we were fecking around with the ball among our defenders, while they ran back into position.United had more possession, is that a symptom of that I wonder? Does the team that has less possession run more in the game usually? And if so what would the normal km difference be?
Yep spot on. Said the same during the match.Gonna be honest. I've never seen a group of players as unwilling to work on a pitch as this United side. No energy on the ball, no energy off the ball. Gung ho Bruno always looking for the spectacular rather than the best for the team. Noticed several times he messed up good opportunities by rushing or doing the wrong thing when he had a moment to think about his options..I dont think our players are lazy off the ball - not in possession anyway. Rashford is constantly running in behind but no one finds him. To me, it's more of a structural problem that has been an issue for years now.
There was this moment. Rashford was 5 yards away from the passer. He just jogged towards him while he weighed his options comfortably and then passed without ever being worried about Rashford pressing him.I dont think our players are lazy off the ball - not in possession anyway. Rashford is constantly running in behind but no one finds him. To me, it's more of a structural problem that has been an issue for years now.
Why are you trying to shoehorn a comment about the womens team into every discussion about the mens? Your fawning looks a bit silly and its completely out of place. The one thing that you don't have to worry about with our women's team is work rate, they all run their socks off for the badge, they are the true inspiration here, the men's side could learn a heck of a lot by watching all of them.
Yep, agree here…it’s just tragicYup, being bluntly honest but one thing I always admired about United under Sir Alex was even when they hadn't the best team, there was a never say die and never surrender attitude. Lazy may be the wrong word. They are just unwilling to work hard. They need a kick up the ass from Roy Keane.I dont think our players are lazy off the ball - not in possession anyway. Rashford is constantly running in behind but no one finds him. To me, it's more of a structural problem that has been an issue for years now.
For all his flaws Ralf is the first manager in years to try that approach and we’ve seen Rashford put a shift in during a few games this season.I have no idea, I believe it was after or maybe before the derby game. I couldn't believe no one called him out on it. Salah isn't a natural presser like say Mane but he still presses.
