This formation would get ripped to shreds in the pl though
Because you said so? Worked perfectly fine in the world cup for Netherlands. All depends on how your manager plays them and how the players perform. Juventus won the title the last few years using it.

They also beat Chelsea with it. Which is a PL team.

Great game. Even young looked good. I just wish for more. Herrera great game. Fotmation wise it was a perfect game. 3-5-2 is a great way to use our players. I just wish for more.

mutv commentary mentioned not to be buying jerseys with these numbers as they're only temporary.
I know, I was just answering the other guy's question on what they were wearing tonight.

I'm pretty sure Herrera will have 21 when the season starts. There was a story circulating that he met up with Angelo Henriquez and asked if he could have the number 21, and they agreed to it. As for what number Shaw will get, who knows. There are more lower numbers available now than probably have ever been available at the same time before.

He has a point though. LA Galaxy managed to get through in the first half. Imagine what a world class opponent will do. Also note, The Netherlands played 5-3-2. United played 3-5-2 today. It's basically the same but the aim of the latter is to put early pressure. United did that excellent in the first half.

Though, it's all new for some players aswell so in time if they decide to stick with 3-5-2 it'll become a lot better. Herrera was amazing, clearly the best man on the pitch by far. I thought Fletcher wasn't mobile enough, seemed like he was unable to keep up with the high pace game United were going for. Shaw looked a bit nervous and out of place. He'll grow into it eventually, it's mostly new to him.

3-5-2 and 5-3-2 isn't really that different, just the wing backs are either more advanced or further back if you want to be more cautious. And La Galaxy got through us like once. In our first friendly, lacking match fitness, I'd say we did brilliantly on both ends to limit them to basically 1 half chance and then obviously we were great going forward. It's new to all of them so it'll take a bit to get used to and fully adapt, but the quality of opponent doesn't really matter for the formation to work or not. As netherlands showed in the world cup.

Just woke up and saw the 7-0 final score. How was the performance then? Lol. How did the new boys get on?

Woke up 30 minutes late but thankfully it was already recording. Team played well as a whole but Herrera was definitely the standout. So was Reece James later on:lol:

Boom! Herrera was lovely. Youngy looks like a player again - everyone was good Yeah it's "only LA" but we couldn't even beat a Singapore Select last preseason

The type of football bodes well for the future. We'll get better too :)

Negative tactics vs positive tactics!

Happy i stayed up for this game!

I knew Herrera was good but if this is an indication of what's to come.. He was great, just great. Dominating midfield. He had an aura of authority i didn't know of. Telling people off if they were out of position. Tactically astute. Knew what to do with the ball before he received it. Passed, took a new position, got the ball back. Always searching for the killer through-ball. He deserved a goal and nearly got it with his first shot but it didn't really matter. He was involved in many goals, indirectly or directly, getting 2 pure assists for Young's goals. Can't believe we actually have a proper midfielder now, finally people! Would almost not be bothered if we don't get Vidal (Nah, let's have him please :)).

Reece James! Were did that come from? No need for a backup to Shaw then. Great work rate and followed through in to the penalty area on several occasions.

Others with good performances: Rooney, Mata, Young (will make it easier to sell him to QPR/Villa/Newcastle/Take yer pick).

Let's see what we can accomplish against better opposition. I'll enjoy this feeling of rebirth for a bit first.

Morning lads. To those of you who had the legs to stay up and watch it fair play. Without seeing any of the game just the positive posts, it's definitely refreshing to wake up to a positive cafe. Out of interest does anyone have a link to hi lights or the full game.

If we do the same to Madrid () ill be extremely impressed.

I just finished work so i'm about to watch it on MUTV, I'm still looking forward to it even though i know the outcome!

If I'm correct, and I like to think I am, this was the setup on paper. (correct me if wrong). Imagine if you swap Fletcher with Vidal, Valencia with Rafael, put Hummels in there instead of one of the defenders.

If you excuse me I will go and perform the dance of joy.
