I would be looking for 16 or 18 points from this next run. We have a chance to build a bit of momentum after the international break.
Have you ever got a prediction right ?

Any defence we offer will be better than what Skrtel, Lovren and Sakho can at the moment. Game was over after 10 minutes, just watched the rest of the game to see if Lallana and Lambert would look any better. Lallana is definitely getting here, Lambert is done. Much like a 50 year old Gerrard.
Not being funny bro, but you aint spent well and Suarez was ded good.

Maybe Brenton should set them up more defensively. They're awful at the back right now and their defenders can't deal with their adventurous attacking style.

I actually thought today was a slight improvement on their last two performances, which were awful. They at least had a bit more tempo today.

but they were still poor. That defending was shsmbolic at times, but were used to that. The real problem was that they really didn't look like scoring the goals they needed. A few chances here and there, but for most of the second half when they were chasing a goal, they were being held at arms length. They weren't hurting West ham at all.

Balotelli looks like a mistake. his style of play is slowing Liverpool down. He's not making those darting runs that we saw from Suarez last season. Instead balls are being fed into a static figure on the edge of the box where the game then slows as he decides what to do, so other players runs are wasted too. I think he just looks like the wrong type of player for them.

Tricky times for Liverpool. Three poor performances in a row, and three defeats in four league games.

That said they have Everton at home early next week. Pretty much guaranteed three points there tbh.

He was awful today, but he wasn't the only one. He's still got a lot to offer us. Playing with Lucas doesn't help him.
He had it easy last year in terms of playing once a week. Not the case this time around. Rodgers needs to monitor him closely because he is struggling big time. I know it must hurt to see him play so bad, I was the same when Giggs started to look his age, but the manager needs to act decisively.

P.s fair play for being on here after a result like that mate. You will get some stick tonight.

Don't be a twat. I've been on here when we finished 8th, lost the league title, etc. I'm hardly going to jump ship now. I expect things will pick up soon anyway, and we'll still finish ahead of you.

When is the next international break?
I don't want to make any bold statements and I'm sure Liverpool will improve, but we will do well to finish below a team with a defence like Liverpools. That's something that can and should improve with coaching, but Rodgers looks like he neglects that side of coaching.

He predicted them to pick up about 57 points against the bottom ten sides or something. Don't quote me on that, just paraphrasing, but it was something similar.
I did. We picked up 5 or 6 points less IIRC.

Do I need to dig up the race for the top four thread though ?

Did wonder whether teams would suss Liverpool out after their end of season template.

Villa did a job on them last weekend, and West Ham pretty much did the same. Get a goal early and soak the pressure.

Bit early to write them off,Its only 5 games.
In which they've lost 3, okay one was against Man City but I thought they performed well in that game. The other two defeats they've looked below average and the loss of Luis Suarez is evident, the loss of Dan Sturridge is also apparent, for me Mario just doesn't care enough.

I know we haven't had the greatest of starts ourselves but with our new signings I generally believe we have a better squad with less games than Liverpool, we should be finishing above them on paper but I believe in LVG and the squad and they'll get it done.

Barney, the gigs up. Gerrard has been woeful this season and its not his spirit but his legs that are gone. Skrtel, Lovren and Sakho will start looking more solid as defenders once Gerrard stops playing.

Quote me on that. We can't keep using Lucas as his sidekick backup excuse.

An absolutely awful display. Don't know why we start with Lucas and Gerrard.
Anytime we have started Gerrard/Lucas together in the past year we have been utter dross in Midfield, too slow, no aggression and with Lucas at the base of the diamond, no penetration either.
West Ham's midfield played great in that first half but BR handed it to them on a plate - the difference when Lallana came on after HT and started driving us forward was obvious …. and painful to watch Lucas in comparison.

As an aside even Beglin also said that Lucas is not a patch on the player he was before his injuries.

Again BR was at fault for the defence. Lovern+Sakho were OK last week and there was no need to bring in Skrtel who was utter shite from beginning to end.

It’s difficult to find any positives from that performance but I’d give the ratings as follows :
Ming (5), Moreno (6), Sakho (6.5), Lovern (6), Skrtel (3), Manquillo (until subbed : 6), Gerrard (3), Lucas (3), Henderson (6), Lallana (6), Sterling (6), Balotelli (6.5), Borini (5).

Rodgers (3/10) : only for the two subs; switch to 3 at the back and the Lucas/Lallana sub at HT).

Obviously losing Suarez was going to be a big miss but with Sturridge out too we have completely lost the focus and speed of attack from last season meaning we certainly can not afford to play Sterling deep.

The front two should have been Balotelli & Sterling (as I said before the match), we should have stuck with Lovren+Sakho and not dicked about bringing Skrtel back in, and Lucas should be nowhere near starting for this club, it should have been Lallana in there – all of the above as I said in pre-match comments.

Suarez would have been in the stands for this game. Without his money we'd have Moses and Aly Cissokho playing alongside Skrtel and Sakho.

Is that clear enough?

As hilarious as this is, think we're being a bit premature about Liverpool falling out of top 4.

We're yet to play a potentially tricky away fixture tomorrow and it is still only September. If they continue to underwhelm until Christmas while we rack up the points, then I'll start laughing.

Can is a nothing player. So you dont have much options. You could drop Headless Henderson back. :D Joe Allen is another option.

One could argue it is the coaching that's the problem not necessarily the centre backs.
Go back a few pages and you'll see that is exactly what I said too. I also think our goalkeeping coach of the past few years (Achterburg - who came from that bastion of superb goalkeepers, Tranmere).

If we win or draw tomorrow, I'm pretty sure it will be the first time since the first day of last season that we would be ahead of Liverpool in the table.

What a strange year its been.

What was the reasoning behind going 3 at the back? Don't think it helped them at all. Only Sterling looked arsed enough to do something.

Really think they could do with a proper holding midfielder in January. Gerrard has generally upped his game when it comes to passing but doesn't quite have the legs on him to shield this fragile defense. Lucas looks a shadow of his former self and Lovren needs to really improve. They could really do with a Mascherano/Alonso in midfield and a Hyypia/Carragher at the back. 8 goals in 5 games is simply inexcusable.

City and Chelsea are locks for it. Arsenal always get in there too. We are only going to get better as the season progresses. We will be in the top 4.

In fairness to him, as ridiculous as some of his predictions were, he was almost spot on with that one.

Crushing Souls.
They've replaced a dynamic and relentless striker with a physical and half assed one in Balotelli and a journeyman in Lambert. Mignolet is a mid table keeper and Gerrard is done.

You dropped points to Hull, Villa and Crystal Palace just off the top of my head which fell short of your prediction and actually gave yourself a chance of salvaging the title on goal difference against the latter opponents. Terrible predictions.

Lallana's impact is being overstated by Sky.

One pass to Moreno aside he barely did anything effective. Pretty player on the ball, but I just don't think he's a game changer for a team like Liverpool.
Actually I think you are missing the influence he had, basically as soon as he was in possession he looked to drive forward, whereas Lucas would generally look sideways and slow play down to a snail's pace.
