Surely the fact he's rattling goals in should mean he's given a chance.
In fecking Croatia...

Eduardo scored shitloads there and then couldn't hack it in the Prem scoring wise.

Obviously then he broke his leg and the rest is history but he hadn't exactly been getting a goal a game before then.

Eduardo was really good before that horrible injury, really started to flourish.

Also Modrić was playing in fecking Croatia before Spurs so there you go.

Situation sort of reminds me of Diouf when he banged in a bunch while on loan or Tosic when he was loaned out and then sold. People were nuts over them but now you never hear anyone saying they wish we still had them.

Wait he was on a loan? I thought he was sold to that croatian team.
Him banging in goals can only be good for us (if he's still on contract).

We can say it's in an inferior league but that's not his fault. The goal doesn't move and you still have to finish your chances. Would have no problem seeing him in pre season. He's very young and you just never know. Diouf wasn't that great but Tosic could have been a good player for United. Had great technique but maybe not suited to our style at the time.

He should maybe get a few pre season games but he is going to have to impress massively to get a real chance IMO. We aren't going to have long to judge him in games while playing Rooney/RVP and also giving Wilson game time.

I think for him it will be best to carry on what he doing, do well and then maybe move to a bigger league to be first choice.

He has been a consistent goal scorer throughout his (short) career so far.

Be stupid not to give him a real shot considering he hasn't been given any kind of chance at all over here.

Zagreb has an option to buy him though, which they'll probably try and use. Then it's up to Henriquez to make a decision.

I'd be perfectly happy not signing a striker if it meant giving Henriquez a chance. I think he has it in him. Ruud Van Nistelrooy lite, with some added pace.

Any quotes from him recently? Would give us an idea on whether he intends to stay at Zagreb long term or whether he wants to try and fight it out at United.

Dinamo coach, Zoran Mamić said as the answer to some speculation about him going to Juventus or wherever that if that's true they'll need to pay 20 mil.
I don't know how he has come out with that info or ammount since as far as I know Dinamo didnt buy him.
Mamić lies the second he opens his mouth so its probably that again.

I really can't see him coming back here unless of course Zagreb can't afford to buy him or he doesn't want to stay there.

Are you insinuating that a good loan is useless? Most just want him to be given a chance after banging 25 goals in 34 games.

I was pretty excited about Angelo when we signed him. I remember we had to act pretty quickly on getting him signed up as other very clubs were starting to take notice of him, yet we weren't planning on signing him until perhaps a year later. Perhaps that may have been a bit of a drawback, as it seemed to stall his career for a little bit. The loan to Wigan was a terrible one as well, barely got a sniff.

Still, I'd rather he was given a chance rather than going for someone like Danny Ings, who we still seem to be linked with.

We signed him as soon as we could and we had an option on him since he was like 14.

I was aware an option was in place for some years prior. Maybe I'm wrong, but I remember reading at the time we weren't planning on bringing him to the club so soon, but City started looking at him so we took up the option to buy sooner than planned.

Wow, ten goals, that's worth the millions he's pocketed this season, he's been vastly disappointing since the end of his first season and I wouldn't object to giving a youngster who is hungry for a chance his spot rather than put up with his underperformance for another season

None of which makes Angelo better than van Persie.

Seems to me it's a no-brainer that we at least give Henriquez a chance to perform with the boys during the USA tour. That is, assuming we have zero interest in keeping Falcao and for whatever reason we have zero interest in bringing Hernandez back.

The RvP situation is more complicated as it may well be no club would be interested in picking up his wage bill. But if we can sell him too -- and no one will ever forget his role in our title run a few seasons ago -- then we can do both Benteke and Henriquez.

Keep the boy, James Wilson.

Problem solved!

Not necessarily plenty of players are never given a chance at the highest level because those who judge talent can actually tell.
Those same type of people also said Peter Beardsley and David platt weren't good enough for utd, everyone can be wrong occasionally.

I think that's fair cause he looked a mile away whilst here.

Seems like he's scored 100 penos this year... could be useful

The matches he plays in are so funny, they have about 30 fans in the stands with armed guards everywhere

People often forget that he joined the club at age 18-19 from a different continent. Did people expect an immediate impact ? He is one of those player that lives from behind the zone passes to utilitize his pace. 34 goals in 69 appearances at a tender age of 21 is not bad at all. I will not jump on the band wagon and advocate for a first team spot, but it would make sense to make him a part of the US tour so that LVG can assess what he is all about.

Those goalies are worse keepers than me.
And I'm scared of getting hit by the ball.

It's different for strikers.

Plus it was immediately obvious how good Modric was/is. Not so with Angelo.
How was it 'immediately'? It was 'only' Spurs that showing interest from PL. And it took him a year or two before he looked that good.

And now they will judge whether he is good enough to stay. Not every young player we sign is going to earn a chance. That is just how football works.
If our talent scout is that good, our academy won't be this 'shit', not producing first team for a long time.
