I don't think he would, because most of our young players can potentially play his style but they need to learn it:

-------------De Gea
Darmian-Smalling-newplayer-Shaw
-------Schneiderlin-B2B
Winger-------Herrera-----Memphis
-------------Martial

Who is he going to sell from them? We lack the old/leader players and he will have to create them.
Pretty sure he'd have Rooney in his starting lineup.

The trouble is I dont know if he can adapt because he has been using the same principles and the same way of playing since he first started. If players didnt change their game to suit Mourinho then he sold them. It wasnt a case of Mourinho adapting to his squad but the other way round. One of the best examples of a very good player who couldnt adapt his game was Joe Cole. I mention this as just one example because Mourinho doesnt change to suit his players, he changes players to suit him.
He kind of adapted his system for Ozil, Ronaldo and Benzema. The one thing Mourinho never changed is his love for experienced players and grafters.

I can't stand the man, but I'd certainly rather have him than Giggs. I'd probably sooner stick with Van Gaal than either of them. Guardiola would be the dream appointment.

Mourinho has no class whatsoever, which is something you need in any united manager, and for all the stick moyes and van gaal get, both have conducted themselves really well here.

We also need someone that believes in the value of entertainment, and while mourinho is capable of setting his teams to play entertaining football, he always prefers to be on the safe side of things, that's just how he is and there's no changing that.

It's getting tiresome to argue that we could win trophies playing a good brand of football, it can be done, that's a historic fact, so we don't need someone like mourinho to win trophies again, we could find someone else capable of doing both.

Well is it really a question of "wanting" him, rather than if he would be the right one?
My first choice is Pep but i´d take Mourinho over LVG, Giggs or Ancelotti next season in a heartbeat.

Jose Mourinho to Manchester United: sacked Chelsea manager targets United as his next destination
EXCLUSIVE: The Independent has learned Mourinho's representatives have reached out to United because it is a role he covets above all other

Jack Pitt-Brooke, Miguel Delaney

The former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho is targetingManchester United as his next managerial job, The Independent has learned, and intermediaries have already taken the first steps in trying to make it happen.

Chelsea sacked the 52-year-old on Thursday, but it is felt that could finally open the way for the Portuguese to get the post that many feel he has long coveted, especially given the ongoing dissatisfaction at Old Trafford with Louis van Gaal.

Sources close to Mourinho say he has already received job offers for the start of next season, but his representatives have also reached out to United because it is the role he has coveted above all others, especially since it became clear that his second spell at Chelsea was coming to an end.

The issue of whether he would be a suitable candidate for the job has long caused debate at Old Trafford, and some key United officials wanted Mourinho to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson when the Scot retired in 2013. Mourinho was open to the possibility, but United decided to appoint David Moyes, and Mourinho returned to Chelsea.

If that happens, Mourinho would almost represent an ideal option in terms of his profile. It would also end criticisms that United have somehow missed out on three of the biggest managers in the world – Mourinho, Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp – in the two and a half years since Ferguson retired.

On the Portuguese’s side, there has been some discussion over whether Mourinho could do with taking a sabbatical, and a period of taking stock after the scale of the decline at Chelsea.

His representatives are all aware of his long-standing desire for the United job, however, and the situation would be aided by the strong relationship between the Old Trafford executive vice chairman Ed Woodward and Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes. The latter has already started sounding out potential employers for Mourinho.

The Independent reported in October that contact had been made between Mourinho’s camp and Paris Saint-Germain and Internazionale.

During his time in charge of Chelsea, Mourinho is understood to have become angry with the response of the players to their alarming slump in form – but also was hugely frustrated with the structure of the club. He privately expressed that their round-table transfer policy was inhibiting, despite public attempts at a united front.

Nevertheless, Mourinho returned to Chelsea’s Cobham training base today to say goodbye to his players, while his lawyers finalised severance terms with the club. The owner, Roman Abramovich, was also in attendance today, watching the players train. He spoke with Michael Emenalo, the Chelsea technical director as well as certain first-team members including Branislav Ivanovic, the long-serving defender.

He'd most likely just sell the players who don't fit in for him - like with Mata, De Bruyne, Lukaku
De Bruyne and Lukaku wanted to leave.

Jose wasn't the only Chelsea manager not to give Lukaku a chance. He was signed when AVB was there. Di Mateo and Benitez didn't play him there too. Same with Sturridge.

Don't want him anywhere near us. His negatives far outweigh his positives. Plus he's an absulote Cnut. Would rather Giggs, and that's saying something.

Those reports that he's made contact with the United camp about becoming the next manager probably suggests that he's always wanted the job.

Jesus I don't understand people on this forum.

2 and half years at Chelsea and two trophies. What a shit manager!
Jose should have replaced Fergie. I would have him here, all the talk of his negative football, I doubt it would be an worse than what we been already fed by Moyes and LVG at times.

There are various pros and cons to Mourinho managing United. The biggest con for me is his reluctance to play youth players. I'd rather stick it with Van Gaal to be honest. At least we'd have a young-ish squad with some experience by the time he leaves.

Yup. Mourinho's record with youth is the biggest worry if he is appointed. That and picking up fights where there exist none. The siege mentality he tries, he goes overboard with it. SAF knew how to use the siege mentality and where to draw line. Still, when we are appointing next manager, if Pep and Ancelotti are not available and we are in need of someone with lots of experience and proven record, he has to be the choice.

Some people "worry" about Mourinho's "negative" tactics! Have we been playing with "positive" tactics during the past 5 years? Yes, 5 years.

Some other people "worry" about youth development! Can you name ONE young player from our academies, developed by SAF, who is currently playing for us? One good player please? Nobody? Not one of Fergie's young players was good enough for Man Utd?

So... what are you talking about?

It also reminds me the appointment of Moyes.

Then, we had many fans that were "worried" that if we appoint Mourinho he wouldn't stay long. They were soooo happy that Moyes would stay here for 20 years. Well, at least 20 years!...

I really hope that our Owners have one and only one criterion for our next manager:

Is this guy going to bring us trophies?

Everything else... doesn't matter. Really!

Caf has gone full retard no question about it. You'd think this was a Moyes level manager we were discussing.

Jose should be no.3 or no.4 on the list of ALL managers we could look to bring in.

Stop being so fecking spoiled and look at the mans record. He's a winning machine. We could do with that right about now.

I voted No, not right now at least.

I think he needs to take some time out.

United is held to a higher standard so if he really covets this job he has to respect that, and respect the traditions.

So if he was to become manager I would only want him to do so on the basis that he grows up a bit and stop blaming and insulting everyone.

People keep wanting Ancelotti yet have it against Jose for not selecting youth is strange.

Ancelotti has managed Juve, Milan, Madrid, PSG and Chelsea. How many youth players has he brought through? Not many.

I'd take him in a heart beat. Don't want 'Pep on tour' coming to a big club near you' and neither another manager who wants Utd on his CV. Jose is fired up and on a mission with something to prove. He attracts big names and tactically is up there with the best. If he came here, it's the eqivilant of signing Messi or Ronaldo in managerial terms.

Maybe they want a manager who'd actually address those problems that they've had with current managers?

Hodgson had Liverpool playing shite football. That didn't mean I was happy for our next manager to play shit football today, it made me want a more progressive manager even more.

Same applies with youth.

He got rid of Raul @ RM.
He didn't get rid of him. He was honest to him though, and said that he will probably not play as much as he would want to (Higuain and Benzema were younger and better players than Raul at the time). It was after that conversation that Raul decided to leave as he wanted to play more. He could have stayed if he wanted to, but he preferred to leave so he could play more. Raul later said that Mourinho wanted him to stay but that he preferred to leave. There was no getting rid of anyone.

I'd take him if we can't get Pep. He's having a mental break down but think he could win us the league as quickly as this season if we had to bring him in now.

I don't think the disaster at Chelsea was all his doing for what it's worth. Completely unrelated, but how much of a part has John Terry played at Chelsea this season? He's been suspiciously quiet. Is he injured?

In a fecking heartbeat.
I don't need to big him up. We all know what he's capable of. I think he would relish the chance to manage us and at the moment he will be as hungry as ever. He understands how we are run as a club and not a circus which is why I think he is fit for us.

The best news in a while will be us appointing Mourinho.
