We should find out soon,
What he's going to do about Roon.
It would be quite a boon,
If he changed his tune,
Having offered him a silver, Chelsea-branded spoon,
He may well end up selling him to the Toon.

Would he not have dispelled the rumors if they were not true at this point? Particularly with the recent Bedy comment, it's not like he doesn't know about that. Is he just keeping his cards close to his chest due to respect for LvG?

After thinking about this further, it seems pretty obvious that LvG has got the message that he will manage to the end of this season, and then Mourinho will come in. At least that is what it would appear, seeing how LvG is so calm despite the terribleness of our team at this point.

Interesting. That's a big hint. Who else is looking for a new manager besides us?
Not only that but he mentioned every other transfer rumour and ridiculed it but totally ignored the United rumour.

Says he'lll only join a new team at the right time.

Then says the right time is the start of next season.

It appears more and more likely that the deal is for Van Gaal to now see out the season and then leave. So its just 3 more months left.

If those quotes are true I think that's a very big hint to all following this narrative. We can stop speculating now and just wait to see what happens come end of the season. I guess out of respect for LVG nothing will be announced whilst he's still in charge.

Jose Mourinho says he does not know about becoming the next Manchester United manager, but is hoping to be back in football this summer.

Earlier this month, BBC Sport reported that the Red Devils had held talks with representatives of the Portuguese boss.

Mourinho, 53, was sacked as Chelsea manager in December, seven months after winning the Premier League title.

When asked if he will replace Louis van Gaal, Mourinho said: "That's the one million dollar question."

Speaking at a school in Singapore, he added: "Nobody knows and I am the first one not to know. I read so many different things. One day says yes and one day says no. One other day says I go to China, another to Italy, I go to Milan and people say I'm going back to Inter.

"I look to the future with more enthusiasm. Now I enjoy my quiet life in this period when I'm not working in football and I hope in the summer I will be back.

"The reality is I like football so much and I miss football so when I get the chance to come back I will come back, but I have to wait to see what happens."

The Red Devils are currently fifth in the Premier League, six points off fourth place, and went out of the Champions League at the group stages.
Sounds like we're just doing the opposite of what City did with Pellegrini and Guardiola. At least that is what I hope.

Real question is who are Mourinho's backroom staff (except for the guy with the infamous hat) and are they any good?

I like to think our current goalkeeping coach and the guy next to LVG with all these stupid complex set plays actually do a good job and will stay.

They won't stay, Mourinho will bring his own entourage. Rightfully so imo.

Interestingly the BBC have now amended their published quotes to remove the "One day says yes and one day says no. One other day says I go to China, another to Italy, I go to Milan and people say I'm going back to Inter." line.

I'm not sure mou has a goalkeeping coach and with lvg retiring we may have a chance at keeping Frans Hoek. He will definitely be bringing Rui Faria and the like though to whichever team he joins, no questions about that.

If we're not careful, another club will step in a take Mourinho before we get our act together - there are a lot of big jobs up for grabs

Arsenal may be in the summer
Chelsea are (OK, Jose probably not in the running for that one but you never know with Abramovich)
Bayern Munich
Whoever's coach goes to Chelsea (e.g. Juve / Roma?)

Munich have Carlo. Arsenal won't be.

what clubs?

Real / Barca are happy
Bayern are lined up and Dortmund second (plus I don't see him going there anyway)
PSG are 24 points clear in the french league and might have a decent run (might be the favourites if the owners are fed up with Blanc but not at the moment)
Italian league just isn't what it was
Chelsea (obviously no), City (no), Liverpool (no), Arsenal (not going to happen as the board won't appoint him nor pay him his salary).

United really do seem the only club in the running at the moment in my opinion

If Allegri goes to Chelsea then I see Juventus in the running.

Other than that, where does he go?

I've no idea myself.

lol Roman ain't bringing Jose back.

none of those are realistic (and Munich already have Carlos). it's kind of a perfect scenario for both of us, we need him, he needs us.

They've also now removed:

I'd amend that somewhat. He needs us as no other massive clubs want him. We don't need him there are plenty of other options!

Who are the options? Aside from Giggs, Neville, Butt and Quinton Fortune. And obviously David Moyes.

I'm a tad worried about Juventus if Conte goes to Chelsea.
Doubt he'd betray Inter. He's wanted this job for years and was sacked by Chelsea twice which gives him leeway to come here but he left Inter on good terms and never pined for the Juve job, even if there were competition if he had two concrete offers he'd pick us due to how much he wants the job.

Poch, Giggs, Blanc, Simeone and others have all been named. As others have pointed out there are not many clubs who want Mourinho.

Chelsea - just sacked after the worst season from a manager in prem history
Real - already gone after being booed out of his last game
Liverpool - hate him and won't hire him
Arsenal - hate him and won't hire him
Barce - hate him and won't hire him
Bayern - used to nice attacking football and won't hire him.
Juve - don't want him.

Is there any set of fans besides Chelsea fans who don't hate him?

Yes, of course there are. Hate is a strong word. I think that his record against Wenger really turned the Arsenal fans truly bitter towards him. Our fans have never spoken too bad of him, helped by the fact that SAF seemed to talk kindly of him.
