Different situation.

Pep criticised the doctors practices and came out basically saying that they're losing games because he's not getting players back.

Jose went bonkers because Eva ran on the pitch to give medical support because Hazzard (or Oscar) hit the deck... and was even called on by the ref, twice!

Not happy to leave it at that, then he suspends her and relegates her to the training compound to think about what's she's done like a naughty school girl, ahem! :nervous:

Anyway, that, to me, was a man not completely in touch with his faculties. Pep's actions, where understandable, if not justifiable.
Pep isn't a doctor, he shouldn't have a say when a player is ready. They were both in the wrong

Apparently the doctor is coming back when Pep leaves so he can't be that bad at his job either to get sarcastically applauded at like that

No. But doesn't make Pep a loon. He has made a poor error in the public eye.

Jose just looks batshit,

Funny how people are trying to soften the fact that Pep made a whole medical team resign because of his antics.

He belongs in the looney bin as well.

Yeah, Pep goes batshit crazy quite often, but apparently that is because he cannot control his emotions (which I think there is something on that). I remember him getting crazy on Howard Webb for not giving a pen to Barca against Bayern (when they were winning 3-0 or so) which resulted with Webb sending him off. Next to Klopp's behavior last season in UCL (and Klopp admitted that he was a donkey in that case), it might be the most disrespectful behavior of a manager to a ref I have seen.

The Mourinho problems in comparison are that they looked more calculated and made to generate hatred. Mourinho literally enjoys playing the villain, while Pep generally behaves well bar those moments when he goes crazy.

Frankly speaking, I don't mind that much either of them for doing so. Manager's first duty is to win trophies and play decent football, the other things come after that and are near negligible in comparison (unless the offenses are very big: racism, rape, threatening other people, result manipulation etc).

So Pep is an unconscious tosser whilst Jose is a conscious one?

The only difference between the two in my eyes is that Jose doesn't care if people like him or not whereas Pep is very concerned about his image as a dignified genius. Either way they are both egomaniacs.

For what it's worth, when you employ someone you outline the job role and your expectations of them.

We'll employ him to do the job we want him to do and our expectations will reflect that.

I can't imagine any of his previous jobs outlined a necessity for bringing through youth or considered 3 or 4 seasons away.

Here he'll be revered for developing young players and I think he'll be motivated by that.

His ideas are getting really old and lately he's been stirring up more shit at his clubs than making something worth lasting.

Just look at what the idiot is doing - players at both Madrid and Chelsea wants him out so bad they're even ready to sink the whole club just to make sure it happens, and then the medical staff is just a weird extra. How the feck do you even do that??? This man is a pure cancer and I'm not happy at all hearing we're about to feed his ego. If he comes here I want his mouth shut 99% of the times and just let the football do the talking. I'm not impressed at all.
Bravo. There's about 4 of us.

Cheers mate. Absolutely incredibly silly post, no idea what he was thinking.
I think the newbies must have sprung a leak, I fail to believe so many tubes have been let loose in this main forum by choice. Pedantic little shits, seizing on one little thing that someone has said instead of reading into what is actually being said. This place is going to the the pits.

That video is hardly indicative of him being crazy. I mean, Sanchez just came back of playing 90 minutes of an unimportant friendly with Chile. He was young and didn't use his head, played too physical in his half hour cameo with Barca already up 3-1 in the Camp Nou. Nothing wrong with a manager shouting at his player for that.

Not being crazy. Going crazy.

I think that these kind of things are always best done behind the scenes. No need to embarrass a young player in-front of the entire stadium and who knows how many viewers.

It wasn't that big a deal, since he actually talked about it straight away in the post match presser. Managers shouting at their players is normal anyway.

LvG asserted similar sentiments when he first came.
The main difference between the situations is the media storm created by the Jose incident because the recipient of his ire was an attractive female. If it was just the physio (does anyone remember his name?) and not Eva do you think the story would have gotten any publicity?

Fecking hell there's so many of you bastards wanting that prick in now. I really want to go on a rant about how hypocritical and fickle the lot of you are but I'm tired, so I'll just stick to short snide comments like this one, to vent my disappointment.

Fair enough van gaal is shit.

Calling him out on not sticking to the clubs mentality & ethos.. And then hiring mourinho is daft..

We have to resort this to win? Looks like our fans have the same mentality as Mourinho.. Win at all costs. Let's buy Costa too. Let him spit around.

I'd agree with that
but ..
He was creating a shitstorm on a weekly basis this season.
If he wasn't throwing his own players under the bus he was going on a 10 min unprovoked rant about why he shouldn't be fired.

Chelsea were a total circus this season and he was the source of the overwhelming majority of the crap coming out.

Mourinho post inter would have definitely tempted me, i just think Real broke him a bit.
He definitely needs to curb his behavior a bit imo.

A lot of people wanted him anyway, after Fergie and now too, because he is the best option available. Dont see anything wrong with that. Hypocritical and fickle?

I'm afraid Mourinho was my first choice to replace Fergie in 2013. I just felt he was the best man especially to step into Fergie's shoes, as he'd relish it while others would fear the role. We're not in the same situation, but I think both United and Mourinho need each other right now.

I just hope that if we do appoint him, we use his time here to change the club structure.

LOUIS VAN GAAL refuses to believe Manchester United betrayed him to line up Jose Mourinho for his job.

Mourinho expects to be made Old Trafford boss in the summer following talks after he was sacked by champions Chelsea earlier this season

But under-fire LVG cannot imagine the Special One has had discussions with United chiefs.

He said: “When I know there is such a nonsense created about me, then I cannot believe there is already a relationship with Jose Mourinho and Manchester United either.

“It is the same. I cannot believe that because I have seen what is happening in the last two months and it was difficult for me, my wife, kids, grandchildren and friends to cope with that.

“But it is not the first country — in Spain and Germany I had to cope with that.

“It is the football world nowadays, it is a pity but it is like that.”

Mourinho has been waiting for the United job — and has been ready to take it — since getting axed at Chelsea in December.

Quotes from LvG in the Sun tomorrow denying the Mourinho thing
Of course, he is going to deny it, until club says something. Likely, he doesn't know much, and even if he knows that he will leave in the summer, it wouldn't be beneficial to talk about that.

He was universally disliked on here 6 months ago. Take a look at the first poll. Now 80% want him in. What changed in that time? He led the champions to 16th place and was fired. He was laughed at by everyone after that meltdown inerview and on many other occasions.
And after all the moaning on here about football being as important ,if not more, than results etc...

So who did/do you want instead? Pep and Mourinho are both lunatics, so is Simeone.. Who is left? :)

He was not "universally disliked on here 6 months ago". In fact, he had been the most popular choice to replace Ferguson. Some still have understandable concerns about his behaviour and, in football terms, his recent meltdown at Chelsea but it tends to be only a few "United Way" types who truly loathe him. In simple terms, he represents the best available option for getting United competing for the big trophies again and, in a less tangible sense, adapting to life without Ferguson.

Di Marzio says Mourinho is likely for next season, alongside the Atletico DOF.

Like the others, says no agreement reached yet.
