Why is averyone just assuming that Mendes himself leaked this news, the only news was this it was someone in Mourinho's camp.

I think this distracts from all the people unhappy with LVG so it does him a favor. People maybe start to rewrite history. I don't think it's a bad thing as I think he's known for a good while. It might even have been tied into finishing 4th. Irrespective, it won't stop LVG enjoying the win. Why should it? There would be speculation on his future anyway.
Apart from nearly every question fielded to him in post-match press conference being about his future due to the leak.

Good to see the morality brigade out in force.

I couldn't care less about the timing. It makes the cup win even better.

It needed to happen and it puts a lot of us out of our misery (worrying about the disaster LVG/Giggs scenario).
Indeed. It's pathetic.

There's only one United!
Dear José. If you're coming over to us at United, you must be able to do better than what Lvg did for us.
That's the challenge now.

What's done is done. I don't really care that it was done after the FA cup final because van Gaal really should know by now that he is gone.

Well done for the FA cup final, but in no way does he deserve not to get sacked.

Roll on next year.

Since when did football fans care about who leaked stories or what's the best way to tell a manager he's finished?
It was the same with Moyes.

As long as it's the right decision for the future of the club, that's all that matters

God Pardew looked like such a fecking moron when he danced. I'm glad to see it'll be etched into history, the utter twat cnut.
That look at the camera makes me think he somewhat staged it. "We'll win and they'll ask me to do a dance at the open bus parade... Hahahah Banter"

This! Made today so much better having Mourinho pretty much confirmed after the cup win. What a day!

I don't know why Mendes has decided this news should come out this evening. What does it gain him?

Don't think anyone can blame Mourinho for it, I can't see him wanting this news leaked today specifically, because of his respect for LVG and for United.
If its a case of say, finalising potential transfers quicker or commitment From De Gea etc with the accelerated announcement then shit yea I'm all for it. But something tells me its a dick move from Mendes.

All this focus on 'class'. Some of you belong over on RAWK. We are a football club who want to win trophies and we were never liked under Ferguson so who cares now.

The deal isn't done if you believe Sky's reports. They say that Mendes will fly in from China on Tuesday to have talks with United.

Didn't want Mourinho but I will back him. In the end it was more or like anyone but LvG, though. Will be majorly pissed if this means limited game time for Rashford.

Now im just guessing here, but does it seem out of character for him to want to be the big story even after we've won a trophy?

His ego will get such a boast when he looks at the papers tomorrow morning...
I don't see it at all. He doesn't need to detract from LVG and from United tonight, it's going to be the major headline until the Euros start regardless. I'd believe it if we were managed by Wenger or Benitez.

It seems more likely that one of Mendes' entourage let something slip.

I just worry about the youth players. Rashford is a cracking player and if he goes on a bad run for a few games and gets dropped for a ready made player then he could find it difficult to make it back it. Also with Lingard, wonder if Mourinho will rate him
I would rather the club has the dilemma of competition for places, if Rashford keeps his performance up he will get plenty of chances. Mourinho is not blind to talent but if Jose buys world class players to make us a top side again I will be happy. It's bullshit that he simply doesn't play younger players, Martial is young there's not a chance in hell that he would say "tony you are dropped because you are young, brilliant but young, so I don't want you".
Lingard is a good player but not a starter for me if we have serious hopes of winning major honors. If he bought a top class right sided player and that meant Jesse had to be on the bench, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest as the only two players who currently deserve to be played week in week and would get into the top sides in Europe are De Gea and Martial.

You had about 2 years adjust to the feeling under Van Gaal.
Must have missed the years under Ferguson too. He was such an angel. Or the manager we all wanted, Guardiola, certainly never acts up.

Jesus some of the reaction in here, it's not like the club has been always clean and dignified in the way they do things. It's part of the modern game.

Just said on Radio 5 that the club have "sacked Van Gaal despite him winning the FA Cup". Really classless from all involved, I would be glad to see the back of Woodward too.

Glad Paddy gave the club a piece of his mind in spite of him being an employee. There's a right way to get rid of someone even as bad as Van Gaal.

It's as close to official as it can be. Reading between the lines, Mendes has told everyone it's done. The BBC don't lead with speculation on the front page of their website.

There were rumours all week it could be confirmed as early as today that Mourinho was taking over. I doubt this is all Mendes.

He might have deserved to be sacked but it wasn't the place of Mourinhos people to announce it. They could have gave him today to enjoy the win, maybe its timed so he can say goodbye to the players and fans before they all leave for the Euros. Who knows, but the situation should never have been handled that way.
