This is the kind of thing that makes me hopeful that some of the younger generation take more of an interest in politics.

My generation has been fecked over and I hope some of us want to do something about it.
The data almost certainly doesn't exist, but it would be interesting to see if the turnout for the first time voter generation in 2010 went up or down last year, post-tuition fee lies.

Same, Lib Dem are lacking much identity or conviction. But they have the potential to pick up votes especially disillusioned younger voters.
The Lib Dems are the last I'd have on a list of potential parties for disillusioned younger voters, considering their role in making them disillusioned in the first place.

Those people are in the extreme minority.
Yes I think that is true.

I do not rule out them being right, though, in the long term. The EU could fail altogether, and it might even be replaced by something better, that works for more people.

My own father is one who voted this way. He is an enormously intelligent man, more so than me, and he did not vote out of his own self-interest, nor because of any immigration issue. He voted because he thinks the EU had time to prove itself and failed, and because he thinks the country can do better as a more self contained and more focused unit. He can see how the EU has failed in important ways and he sees its collapse as inevitable as it will not adjust quickly enough to the predominant and growing sentiment against it.

For now at least, I do not agree with him. I think it is too much of a risk and frankly we lack a party that can rule the country in such a way as to reap the rewards and progress in the right way. I also think there is a fair chance the EU will continue and ride out the current storm, emerging stronger and more united with a slightly diminished group. But I am not certain at all.

In the mean time, my brother is looking to move to Ireland!

Good bye Britan. I really feel sorry for you. Betrayed by the far right wing and neoliberal stupid people, and even an act of national terrorism didnt changed the feelings of the majority of the people. Good luck for all of you, you will need it.
Btw: I read a comment, that the parents of somebodys girlfriend votet leave cause they "had colonies before the EU" (wtf?), seems that now the Kingdom is melting down as Scotland and Northern Ireland werent so stupid to vote leave and now wanting out. Congratulations parents, you will loose a lot more than just your colonies.
I will miss you, no Erasmus anymore for you, no freedom of moving, working, living in our beautiful continent anymore. Only your little sad nationalistic island.
Mind your words mate. I voted remain but don't go slagging off our country. Plenty of yours come to visit, live and work here. They also seem to be more than happy to do so. So perhaps there's something very beautiful about this island with its world heritage sites and the like.

There isn't that much I can think of to make me happy about what my country has done. At the very least at least you lot will stop blaming us for everything that goes wrong in the EU. Now the real divisions between Germany and France will surface and neither will be able to use us as a convenient fig leaf. Good luck with making German fiscal discipline work with French keeness for the ECB to float the EU economies more.

I dunno if this has been posted, but...
I've been saying this since this morning. The House of Commons should vote this down. Labor MP's might be ending their careers by doing so though as most of them are based in the areas that have voted leave. People in the areas that voted remain should write their MP's and try to persuade them to vote this down.

Nonsense

Greeks, for all the anger at the EU stull want to stay in both the EU and Euro
Maybe youre too thick to make sense of it.

Greek politicians want to be in EU. Most Greek people want to leave and default/devalue.

Like me. The way Corbyn dealt with this referendum is a betrayal as for as I'm corncerned.

Leave lot have no intention on explaining how it's going to work, nor alleviating the fears we have. So they may get on with the shit show while the rest of us watch with close attention and quietly consider our options away from the UK.

They can get fecked with their "let's come together" bullshit. I'm not xenophobic, not uneducated and I'm not a fecking little Englander who can't stand up for myself. I have nothing in common with these people.

And get this, I'm not rich, nor even middle class by my wage. I'm kind of broke - doing a PhD and have no guarantees of anything in terms of a career but I like having options and this vote has just fecked people like me right over (from a working class background).
My advice for you is get your PhD and look for a country with a high standard of living, Australia, Denmark, Norway are three.

I'm probably doing the same after this year, I'll repay my loans from abroad, the way it's going after the referendum as a British National I don't feel welcome in my own country right now.

MPs voting against a referendum is pretty dodgy IMO. A lot of people would get very angry about that and spill their tea.

If my experience wth the lib dems is worth anything they'll campaign to remain the EU, get a sniff of power Leave the EU and round up EU nationals and put them in gulags.

Thats my experience of the Lib Dems. I do not trust them and I'll never vote for them in my life.

There'll be a brain drain of sorts. But no idea how big. Academia is absolutely bricking it, especially science.
In one moment of brevity on Friday, Tim Farron sent out a press notice saying he is 'standing for the 16m who voted to remain'. The man has delusions beyond his party's pitiful handful of seats.

Lammy is a Labour MP, dunno if his constituency voted Remain or Leave though.. he's in Tottenham, so perhaps Remain. If he's doing this at the peril of his political career, then kudos to him!

I don't have to respect shit

I am just saying the government has to respect the vote. Anything else would be a huge affront to democracy.

Also those who think a revote would come down on the Remain side are I think sorely mistaken. There might be some Leave voters who would change but half a million? I doubt it.

Yeah vote for me and I'll cut your University Fees. They vote them into Government and they raise the fees.

It's easy for David Lammy to make that comment given that London is so heavily remain. That's not going to be the case for Remain MPs where the constituents voted for Leave

David Lammy's constituency overwhelming voted to remain. Why should he not do everything in his power to kill it?
What should the SNP MPs not do everything in their power to kill the vote?
What he says is true.
If there was another referendum today and people knew nothing would change on immigration, Remain would win convincingly.
Or if people knew the £350m and NHS was bullshit.

The contempt users here have for a democratic process (it was a fair vote, no matter how terribly set-up) is frightening.

J K Rowling said it best “We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy." The easy thing would be to vote this through but it's not the right thing to do.

Leave won on the basis that we could stop immigration from the EU. That is a lie.

I think it's more desperation at the crazy outcome rather than anything more insidious tbh.
Ya, I just thought this contempt was a 3rd-world thing and that you enlightened whites* knew better.

*ha!

The desire for a benevolent strongman and "these people don't deserve the vote" are very common sentiments in India.

I think those people would vote the same way again.

The campaign was nonsense from both sides and I think it made little difference to the prevailing sentiment, however misguided you and I may think it is.
