Jesus him and Moyes must have really not got on. All it takes is a minor note to say thanks for his time (not that I particular like Moyes at all). Maybe the stories of Giggs mentally checking out during that season (as a coach) are true.

It's entirely his own fault he's a bit part player in Wales' football history. 64 caps over a 16 year career is rubbish when he easily would be the first name on the team sheet and constantly pulling out with suspect injuries just to make the next club game is shady. Contrary to popular opinion the Wales side of those years weren't too bad.
Brilliant Utd player nonetheless. The poster boy of wing wizardry as a youngster. I don't recall a teenager making such big waves as he did in that manner. Reinvented himself as a good forward thinking midfielder when needed and a testament to his talent that he held his own in big games.

Always a shame for a United legend to go but can't help but feel this is for the best for both parties. United want Giggs to be a future manager but can't justify it when he doesn't have enough experience and Giggs wants the job too. By stepping aside he can start to forge his own path and if he does turn out to be a top manager then I'm sure the United job will be there for him.

After all Moyes didn't even bother thanking his players in his statement when he left us.
Then the official United statement also thanked Moyes just for his hard work because really there's nothing else to thank him for. And hard work should be there anyway on top of the talent, no one should be thanked actually for hard work alone, as that's the least one is expected to do when earning several millions a year.
Legend. He is one of the big reasons I became a United supporter. Given so much pleasure and joy down the years.

That statement by Moyes showed what a petty little man he is.

LVG said a lot of ridiculous things. The fact that he said R.Giggs (who has no prior experience in management) would take over at MUFC manager in 2017, was just another ridiculous thing he said.
I think it's great that we have a complete change to the MUFC management, for what will hopefully be a fresh start.
And regards Giggs: good luck to him. I wish him all the best in his career and hope he makes a success of that.
That's pretty much what I think happened.
Why would he want to thank Moyes if he felt Moyes didn't contribute much to his career? He felt SAF and LVG were helpful and he thanked them, he didn't think Moyes was, and he excluded him. Good for him.
Sad to see him leave, but it was time.

There is no way on earth the thought didn't cross his mind though. That's the point. It's piss easy to just put his name in there but he chose not to.
It's not hugely dramatic but to me it suggests Moyes was far from Giggs' cup of tea, as they say.
His stock seems to have fallen as quickly as Keano's... Great player for United, should've moved away from the club, his comfort zone, a few years ago.

He worked under 2 guys with monumental records, so referenced them. It'd be a bit embarrassing to then add "also thanks to Moyesie, who erm...was good in a mediocre way for years"

When the dirty washing came out it was supposedly Giggs saying 'whats the point, he doesn't listen to anything' etc. Think it got to the stage they wouldn't sit next to each other on the bench anymore

What a servant to the club. He joined as a kid back when it was Jesper Olsen running down the wing, and I was just 17. Now I'm 46 and he's leaving us finally. Sad, but the right decision.

A United legend and one of the best wingers I've seen in my lifetime, also a pretty good CM in his latter years. Definitely the right time to make his own way into management though in my view, and I hope he starts in the Championship and does an Eddie Howe, the PL is utter madness right now with the money flying around and not an ideal environment for a first job.
I think he stayed two years too long. He should have moved on as soon as he retired from playing. The club was going through the biggest change for 27 odd years and it was never going to go right. His playing status is untarnished, but I can't help feeling the last three years have damaged his immediate memory, which is unfortunate considering his contribution to this club. However I do think in years to come the memories of his role as assistant manager will diminish and it will be his legend as a player that will grow and take precedent of those memories of him.

Love Giggsy but his Tommy Doc/Russell Brand type love life have made him a toxic option to be the manager at a 2 billion! £ club.

Giggs was my favorite player when I started supporting United as a kid around 1991. All the best to you Ryan I hope you forge a career in management. But still I think that as good as he was as a player he will not become a really top tier manager. He lacks in leadership an charisma for really top tier management.
I agree. I also think that fan's feelings about Ryan, that negativity about his personal life and his role as Assistant Manager, is kind of reflected that the most loyal and arguably the most influential and skillful player United has had for decades only has 46 pages as a tribute! However, maybe I'm just being cynical.
