I know, I was replying to the other guy who seems to be defending the notion that he came here for the money because he didn't say anything publically.
Oops - I was just backing you up, not trying to correct you - that Pogba obviously really wants to be here and him not publicly courting for the move was not because he didn't really want to come - just that he couldn't do it.

Does anyone still reckon he'd pick Madrid, Barca over us?

He seems ecstatic to be back.
Well if in 3-4 years, United have hardly challenged for the league, haven't done much in Europe, then I expect he would be looking for a move and understandably so.

I think we need a tidy midfielder. Someone like Scholes or Fabregas. I think Pogba might become a very good midfielder, he is not currently based on Euros, but with his long legs I don't think he will ever be considered a real tidy player with the ball. Our best midfielder with the ball is Carrick, a 35 year old and that could be a problem.

The other worry I have is while Pogba is strong and can cover a large area, I don't think he is quick over 10 yards or less. In other words the spine of our team is sorely lacking in quickness: Carrick, Schneiderlein, Fellaini, Pogba, Herrera, Rooney and Ibra. Teams like Liverpool, with quick players all over, will have a decided advantage.
I was looking for the white text, but seems like there is none.

The first bold part shows you have not seen enough of him. Him not being good/tidy with the ball is the biggest joke I have read on here.

Can people not do the 'f*cking' thing, it went really, really badly with Schweinsteiger.

this is the first signing since Van persie that's a genuine statement signing.
To be honest the last two summers have also been good. But it has gotten better each summer. I was so thrilled with Falcao and Di Maria and then Morgan and Bastian. They were also good summers for me.

I don't feel excited about the fee (although recent release shows numbers that is more acceptable), but feck me if I don't get the excitement of seeing POGBA in United shirt. How can you feel anything but happy to see one of the world best (young) central midfielder playing for us.

And seems like he actually wants to play for us also, which is one of the most important thing

It might not have worked out, but signing Di Maria was huge. He was credited for being the guy who won the CL for Madrid, even without being Bale or Ronaldo.
Still pissed off with that, I feel LVG just never gave him a chance to work out. Maybe Di Maria never really tried, meh.

The more I digest this transfer, the more it strikes me as an absolutely mammoth deal. Not only in the context of the money involved or the fact he's returning to us, which are both momentous, but the pure marketability of it.

From the very start, this transfer has felt different. The social media focus has been relentless and Adidas have clearly had a vested interest in it from the beginning, which has put a real different spin on proceedings.

It's theatre now but I like it.

How is juventuz reacting to all this?
Livid. I never seen fans so bitter. They claim he is overrated now and that they got 125 million euros net for him and were really smug, then Juventus themselves broke that they are only getting 105 +5 and Juventus were the ones paying Raiola which means they spent more on 28.5 year old lard higauin than we did on Pogba. They are basically in riot mode. Its glorious :lol::lol: . If he was so overrated why are they going titts up

It's a sign of things to come. I think over the next 10 years we are going to see Adidas signing up hot young players and grooming them for us before similar transfers with the same fanfare being made.

That's probably half the reason that Real Madrid are pissed off by this. It's them that does transfers like this, it's them that holds transfer records, they're the Adidas darlings are here we are swinging our bollocks around like an absolute thoroughbred while the world's media fawns over us. I have a feeling Mourinho is here to knock Real Madrid off their fecking perch.

I thought Di Maria was a bloody statement to be honest
Di maria would have been a proper statement signing for me had there been any willingness on his behalf at all that he wanted to be here, let alone the fact he was shuffled out by the club he wanted to be at, and the club he wanted to go to couldnt afford him that summer.

Thats not to say he wasn't the calibre of player to qualify, but for me, Pogba and van persie both had that desire to be here, and we got them from clubs desperate to keep them.

But fair.

Pogba fancied Real Madrid more, not just due to his ties with Zidane (who also wanted him) but because of his bad memories at United. However, in the end Mourinho won him over. After all, things are usually achieved by those who do the most to achieve them.
From AS...let it go

What a summer for both the Manchester clubs. Our derby is going to be as big as the Classico this year.

It also works the other way. We learn from our mistakes and hopefully we don't let a Pogba situation develop ever again.
Then let's hold on Januzaj and only let him go on loans if he needs more time to develop. The kid has mad talents and potential, we can't just get rid.

Just been sent a photo by the missus of my son in a Pogba shirt

As an old(ish) fart, I often feel disconnected with where football is going and feel a bit weird about our new galactico policy. However, it's easy for people like me to forget that there's a new generation of fans out there, who have been crying out for a bit of razzmatazz at United. My lad is 7 and mad about United (the power of brainwashing) but has struggled to find positives while watching us play these last couple of seasons. Which made me hate Van Gaal with a passion. He's besides himself with excitement about this deal, though. He's been on a soccer camp during the school holidays and all the kids his age are doing dab celebrations and think Pogba is cool as feck. Such an inspirational signing for the kids who are just starting to fall in love with United. We've been painfully short of star quality for ages and he has it in spades.

I don't want to get involved in a long discussion about this, as it is pointless and silly.
But when a player is looking for a move, he begins to say nice things about the new club he wants to be at.
ALL players does this. Ronaldo did this when he wanted to move to Madrid. DDG did this when he wanted a move to Madrid. Even DDG's girlfriend was doing the social media rounds. Bale couldn't wait to move to Madrid and he did not hide this fact, before he moved to Spain.
I could go on, but you get the point.

Pogba kept his mouth shut.
He was contractually and by Law told to shut his mouth and couldn't say anything. Keep up with all the updates going around.

And beside it's much more respectful to your soon to be former club to simply shut up and wait for the move to happen, and it's actually very smart given things can collapse and you might find yourself back where you were attempting to shit.

And I don't remember DDG saying much in the whole Madrid saga, he was pretty quiet which was very smart of him.

That's awesome to hear. Can't believe your lad is 7 year old already. Still remember the whole forum sending you congratulations when he was born.

I'm not sure if it's new, as we've always went around breaking transfer records, but probably not with this much hype and publicity and the whole media circus. Great to hear about your boy though, my parents weren't footie fans so I hadn't discovered the club until my early teens, so it's great to hear kids being integrated so early in their life. And though we did play some dour stuff under LVG, at least your boy wasn't spoiled by the Fergie era. For me it still hurts knowing he's retired.. when he was here, his arrogance and confidence rubbed off on us, and we felt like we had a God given right to win every match and go nuts blaming referees and opposition players when we don't.

I know this video has been posted but i strongly recommend people with doubts to watch it. It's not some scrabby 5 minutes highlight video.
I can't see how he's going to be anything other than a success here. I watched him in the reserves but this player is unrecognisable. He has elevated his game so much.
Is there a more complete young midfielder. Strength, pae, skill, balance, technique, grace, guile, toughness, passing(long and short)...this guy has it all. Look at how players are bouncing off him.
