Bullshit. No matter who he played for, he was a great player during his best years.Scousers are the biggest hype men going. If he'd played for Arsenal he'd just be another good player imo.

I wouldn't read too much into those comments, he also said Ronaldo, Giggs, Scholes and Cantona were the only world class players he ever managed. Which is obviously bullshit and contradicts the numerous times he described Keane, Giggs, Schemeichel, Vidic, Ferdinand, Stam, Van Nistelrooy, RVP, VDS, Evra, Irwin etc etc. as world class players over the years.Fergie was right, he wasn't a 'top, top player', and as good as he was as Liverpool captain, they don't appear to be missing his presence in that role either.
Bullshit yourself, it's an opinion. Good player at a near to top level, not a great in mine. Surrounded by shite helped his cause too.Bullshit. No matter who he played for, he was a great player during his best years.
Okay, let's agree to disagree then.Bullshit yourself, it's an opinion. Good player at a near to top level, not a great in mine. Surrounded by shite helped his cause too.
That's cool with me, not trying to change anyone else's opinionOkay, let's agree to disagree then.
Look at his attitude, the kissing of the camera, the speech. I don't think he would've wanted to adapt. I think he enjoyed being the centre of attention, he wanted to be Roy of The Rovers. I think he was a good midfielder but in no way was he ever world class, he was the tier just below (which is no bad thing)Or he'd have adapted and changed his game (like Henry did at Barca for instance). If he played like a hero wannabe at Liverpool, it's because he was allowed to, at another club he probably would have played differently.
I'm sorry, me neither. Apologies for jumping at your post like thatThat's cool with me, not trying to change anyone else's opinion
No worries man xI'm sorry, me neither. Apologies for jumping at your post like that
this. obviously you lot are biased - but as a neutral - he was a brilliant player at his peak. Stayed loyal to his club too just like Giggs, Neville etc.I wouldn't read too much into those comments, he also said Ronaldo, Giggs, Scholes and Cantona were the only world class players he ever managed. We can hate Gerrard all we want, and i think he's a tosser. But he was a top player for a long time. He wasn't the best around, certainly not in central midfield but he was a brilliant player and one of the best in the PL era.
As long as you understand how wrong you are, that's OK.That's cool with me, not trying to change anyone else's opinion

These are really good points, while he could be pretty damn indulgent at Liverpool, plenty of the time it was because his team wasn't very good. Had he moved to a better side I'm sure he would have performed to a high level in a more team orientated fashion.Mourinho tried to sign him three times. He'd have been dynamite ahead of Makelele in the same way that he moved up a couple of gears when freed up by Hamann/Mascherano/Alonso etc.
sure. PL great with 0 medals, spent most of his time in a side that struggled to compete in anything big apart from about 2 seasons. OkkkkAs long as you understand how wrong you are, that's OK.
Apart from when he was all ready to sign for Chelsea until actual threats of violence stopped him? More cowardly than loyal imhothis. obviously you lot are biased - but as a neutral - he was a brilliant player at his peak. Stayed loyal to his club too just like Giggs, Neville etc.
Considering your other posts in the thread I'm not surprised you think that.Apart from when he was all ready to sign for Chelsea until actual threats of violence stopped him? More cowardly than loyal imho
Out of interest, would you consider Bale world class?sure. PL great with 0 medals, spent most of his time in a side that struggled to compete in anything big apart from about 2 seasons. Okkkk
I still can't fathom how he got away with that. Now he can concentrate on twatting DJs for not playing Phil Collins.
Well it's hardly the dictionary definition of loyalty, staying out of fear.Considering your other posts in the thread I'm not surprised you think that.
Yeah, it was against all odds.I still can't fathom how he got away with that.
I don't see enough of him to say really. Can probably probably have more of an effect on his day than Gerrard in terms of actual football as opposed to leadership thoughOut of interest, would you consider Bale world class?
The bolded phrase is never, ever correct.Good player but highly overrated, el hadj diouf is right after all. All the Gerrard fan boys have hyped him so much over the years, he would just be a good player in a great team that's it
Moronic post. What about Shearer, Le Tiss, Zola, Ginola, McGrath etc? Credit where it's due, he was a fantastic player. If Pogba turns out to be as good we'll all be creaming ourselves.sure. PL great with 0 medals, spent most of his time in a side that struggled to compete in anything big apart from about 2 seasons. Okkkk
Indeed - the problem is there are so many childish people around.Moronic post. What about Shearer, Le Tiss, Zola, Ginola, McGrath etc? Credit where it's due, he was a fantastic player. If Pogba turns out to be as good we'll all be creaming ourselves.
I'm on the wind up to an extent, if you can't tell by now, but I do think he's very overrated. Worst player out of those, for sure, and I standby that he wouldn't be seen as anywhere near as good if it wasn't for scousers. Pogba will be a much more useful player game in game out if he keeps improving.Moronic post. What about Shearer, Le Tiss, Zola, Ginola, McGrath etc? Credit where it's due, he was a fantastic player. The ignore option on here was invented purely for posters like you - thankfully other more sensible posters have the option to update that accordingly - like I have just done.I'm on the wind up to an extent, if you can't tell by now, but I do think he's very overrated. Shearer has a title though. But good point regardless.Moronic post. What about Shearer, Le Tiss, Zola, Ginola, McGrath etc? Credit where it's due, he was a fantastic player. If Pogba turns out to be as good we'll all be creaming ourselves.
ignore me then, i'll miss ye. Implying i'm immature at the same time as threatening to ignore is a good 'unThe ignore option on here was invented purely for posters like you - thankfully other more sensible posters have the option to update that accordingly - like I have just done.
Words fail me - "Worst player out of those, for sure, and I standby that he wouldn't be seen as anywhere near as good if it wasn't for scousers"
One for discussion with your fellow school mates I imagine.
I still can't fathom how he got away with that.
Yeah, it was against all odds.
Henry was also a big arrogant cock but it never prevented him from being a team player. I think we really do underestimate the adaptability of these (good) players.Look at his attitude, the kissing of the camera, the speech. I don't think he would've wanted to adapt. I think he enjoyed being the centre of attention, he wanted to be Roy of The Rovers. The original dabber.Bye bye Slippy G, you'll be missed.
