Yeah, Hitler and a football manager, totally comparable.

Talking about world class points.
I was being wilfully ridiculous to make a relevant point. Establishing the narrow parameters of the discussion means we aren't allowed to talk properly when considering the respective records of each manager. To limit discussion of Mourinho's behaviour to a six month period is frankly laughable and utterly disingenuous.

You laughed at Kenny because he couldn't get anything right at Liverpool, yes. You're not laughing at Klopp now, you're just annoyed by him which is a totally different thing. You don't get annoyed by irrelevant things, so clearly he's doing something right.
KD couldn't do anything right??? Feck me he brought you finals a trophies virtually every season. Confused!

"telling off Conte" he made a remark about Conte show boating at 4-0 on the touchline.

As for his touch line bans what have they been for? Kicking a water bottle? Discussing referee performance?

Hardly Hitleresque.
Who said it was Hitleresque?

The Conte one was wilful distraction at the 4-0 at best and very sore losing at worst.

We could expand it to a 1 year but he wasn't in a job until 6 months ago, so what would be the point?

Is Mourinho not afforded, or even allowed to move forward from the past? I find that idea more disingenuous.

You were the only person to mention Hitler.

And the Conte one is what managers do after heavy defeats, they all distract, are sore losers, take the pressure of their players. Klopp does the same.

To limit the discussion to Mourinho's six month period with us is totally fine since he so obviously has been craving this job for so long and also probably is very attentive of the reservations some people in central positions at MUFC and even fans had about him.

This PL season both Klopp and Wenger has been way more OTT than Mourinho. If Mourinho had been whining about refs in post match interviews like Wenger and hounding fourth refs like Klopp he would have had a ban.

I reckon even the hissy fit Klopp threw at Mourinho on the sidelines during out match would have secured Mourinho some bad press at the very least, and perhaps also disciplinary action.

Fact of the matter is that we are seeing a totally different Mourinho so far in his spell here, and pulling out old episodes from his tenure at Chelsea or RM just isn't relevant to MUFC Mou.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
Jurgen is a massive personality, a carefully cultivated massive personality.

Definite similarities to how Mourinho was when he arrived at Chelsea, for me.
Klopp doesn't compare to 'Special One' era José, not even in the same ball park.

José turned up and swept English football off it's feet, charming/trolling to the point of hypnotism, winning back to back leagues, ridiculous unbeaten home record, domestic cups.

Special One era José was basically the arrival of a Master Wizard.

Klopp is a good man manager, but his only real mastery is as a 'fan manager'. What I man by that is that he's skilled at cultivating a '**** of personality' at the club he manages, and at Liverpool he's found a doting wife of a fanbase, to the point that it could be slightly dangerous for Liverpool if he under-achieves.

As I said above, in LvG's 2 seasons after taking over Moyes' mess, he got top 4 and won the F.A Cup, while being largely criticized by the press and by his own fanbase.

Klopp must get at least one of these this season, and even then, he wouldn't have matched LvG's time at United.

After 50 PL games in charge, he's got a worse record than LvG...

Klopp really does need a good shower and shave, and maybe put on a crisp suit for matchday just once.

He looks like a Big Issue seller - there is nothing wrong with this by the way. It's just that he represents the second biggest football club in England - he could make an effort now and then.

But surely we are allowed to discuss the man properly rather than simply his tiny United tenure. Does this statute of limitations also apply to his winning of trophies? You have to go back to 2015 for his last one. Is that permissible to discuss because it's more positive or are we operating on the basis that his trophy haul is irrelevant?

He was excellent but he was also the only chequebook manager in town. Comparisons to the current PL is apples and oranges. His hand was far stronger than Klopp's current context.

I didn't say that, I'm simply asking why you're insisting his past behaviour is still relevant today.

He's been banned for kicking a water bottle and criticising referees - are those the actions of a mad man with no respect or restraint? No of course not.

So why carry on with the rhetoric based on his actions from years ago? What purpose does that serve if he isn't acting in the same way now.
All that highlights is a growth of character and maturity in Mourinho, which benefits everybody, doesn't it?

So you're happy to draw that conclusion from a six month stint? There's no part of you that thinks you're massively overstating all of this? He's been relatively sanguine for a few months and you're talking about personal growth and maturity while wilfully ignoring a lifetime of ill-repute. Ok.

Growth has to start from somewhere doesn't it?
If you changed your habits and character over the course of 6 months its better than staying the same and not improving isn't it?

If Klopp goes on to achieve less than LvG by the end of the season, then I'd take LvG.

If Klopp wins the league, or gets top 4 and a domestic cup in one season, I'd pick Klopp.

But I'm not saying Klopp is a shit manager, am I? I'm saying that his actual achievements (thus far, none) are being blown way out of proportion, and I'm talking about your situation with him.

I think Rodgers was hard done by your fanbase in the end, and I think Klopp is being talked about in some circles as though he's virtually a Liverpool legend - but he's done nothing.

He's done worse after 50 PL games than LvG, 7 points better than Rodgers after 50 games, and won no trophies.

He may fix that this season, but if he doesn't, you need to put the club first, not the manager you're all worshipping in a '**** of personality'.

Klopp is playing to the fans, he has recognised that key element of the scouse psyche is the victim mentality and Klopp is cultivating an idea that himself and LFC are once against the victims.. He is a one man click bait.

Turning into a poor mans Conte. The latter seemingly can be a passionate nutter on the sidelines without being a total goof with the press.

Don't know about the ban and its not often I agree with your posts but Jose does seem far more chilled even during his bad spell, seems content and really happy.

Speaking of "immaturity and lifetime of ill-repute," can we have figures of fines handed to Klopp in Germany and instances of him insulting media and blaming referees? I have read that there were many such.

lol, the thread title. Did he really say that? What a whiny, cringeworthy wanker.

He needs to get banned or fined like Mourinho so he can stop talking and moaning too much. I must say that he talks and moans more than Mourinho did in his Chelsea's day but FA doesn't seem care of what Klopp does.

I wonder how many people on here actually watched the interview and saw the quote in context before commenting. Straight after he said it he said something like "but...ok try to answer serious...." and then gave a proper response.

Klopp only has to open his mouth and some oppo fans lose all sense of rationality - it's beautiful to behold.

so if you make a joke about it followed up by 'no seriously though' it is okay? mourinho would get a fine for a comment like that.

I am sorry but this is a joke. He won two titles with Dortmund and turned them into an European powerhouse again while, before him, they had not been on the map for more than ten years.

Depends on your perspective. There is a long tradition of Liverpool fans claiming the victim status. In all this I, of course, exclude Hillsborough which was a truly horrific event and the subsequent actions by the filfth, the government and the scum were abhorrent.

For years it's been attributed to Liverpool due to Hillsborough. That was what the victims stuff emanated from. That's the genesis of the label. Nothing else. Now that's been proven to be utterly false people think it ok to engineer other 'reasons' for its use. Fact is, it's a relic of Hillsborough and shouldn't be used casually as a stick to beat Liverpool with. Even if you use it in a totally unrelated way it's not appropriate as it's too synonymous with the lies and heartache around an event where innocent people died.

The list of Mourinho's incidents, subsequent bans and what various football organisations would consider harmful statements is a very long one.
He carries bad reputation with him, sorry but that's just how life works.
If you constantly act like a prick, then people will judge you to be just that even if you'd suddenly try to change your attitude towards them.
A wife won't just forgive all the beatings and abuse to a husband of 40 years, if he suddenly one day comes home and declares: "I've changed!"

Klopp is just saying stuff that wind you up, and you lot hate getting wind up about it, that's the real issue.

Why not? As bad as it was under LvG we still managed to win an FA Cup which is more than what's Klopp's managed to do at Liverpool. Two cup final defeats for Klopp since joining.

Vitesse, KSV, Rangers,
Then you get that plonker Lawrenson speaking on the radio about Klopp.....saying that if you offered ALL the other premier league clubs supporters Klopp over their current manager, then ALL of them would say yes please.
The scouse gut churning band wagon is in top gear

I disagree with your opinion. But it is massively OT and could drag this discussion down so I will not respond further.
