Stoke 1:1 Man Utd
He's so bad on the ball it's almost unbelievable how he made it to this level.

Bad enough that he starts, but also captain today

Smalling is 27 and plays like a 19 year old, he hasnt evolved one bit.

He's getting away with it so far today.

Just hope his composure is a bit better in the second half.

Gets beaten by Peter Crouchis hardly a terrible or unexpected thing. Some of you are utterly embarrassing.

He made one mistake the whole game, which lead to a poor shot from 20 yards out. He hardly put a foot wrong apart from that.

He's quicker than Jones and Rojo. He's harder to dribble/run past than Rojo and Jones. He wins more headers than Rojo and Jones. His positioning is also not worse than those two either.

He wouldn't be smashing balls out of play when in 20 metres of space, he's like a 10 year old having a panic attack.
Yes, his distribution is poor. No problem with commenting on that. But complaining about him struggling against Crouch (he won a fair share of the balls against him) and not scoring a header is ridiculous, when he is by far our best defender in that regard.

Rojo and Bailly are better than him. His ability on the ball is so bad it invites pressure.

But mistakes are only pointed out when its Smalling you see. When Rojo and Jones both make a mistake against Origi, nobody wants to talk about that.

All in all Smalling was a little under par today.

Rojo has been fecking shite for most of his time at United. But Smalling us not allowed to miss a header against Peter fecking Crouch.

Again, on the ball he was shocking.

Slow, ponderous, uncertain, negative and constantly hoofing stuff out when he was in an oasis of space.

Dominant physically for the most part but when we don't have to defend very much he is a liability and hampers us.

Should be sold and replaced with a dominant experienced defender.

He's not good enough.

Are you joking? Of course he is, stop being so soft. No problem with him not winning some headers, it's more than expected vs Crouch. But at the same time, the one they scored from he was 5 yards off and didn't even pressure Crouch. Better to just not go for it in that case.

He didn't miss the header in the goal. He went way out of position for a header that he wasn't even close too. Looked really bad in that instance but it didn't cost us a goal. The goal was a fluke.

It was worse when Stoke got their only shot on target. Soft header straight to Shaqiri giving him a 1v1 opportunity.

A bad aspect about Smalling is that despite his height he is useless up front. He's just so bad at heading. It's like he doesn't understand that there's more to it than letting the head make a connection with the ball.

Last season when everyone was hailing him as being brilliant I just couldn't agree. I think everyone was just happy he managed to play 5 games in a row without being injured.

He is a coward. Any bit of pressure or rough treatment sees him panic and make really stupid mistakes. He sometimes bursts out of defence leaving 2-3 opposition players in his wake, meaning we have a really good chance to counter, only to stop dead look around and pass it diagonaly backwards to the other cb or even sometimes the Gk. Infuriating!

He is the worst of our cb and I even include Blind in that position.

Only one bad moment from him but he dealt with Crouch nicely. Well played!
